Magoffin County pulled off one of the best comebacks I've seen in a high school game against Sheldon Clark.

Johnson Central cruised past Paintsville on Tuesday night.

But the main thing is, both teams are going to the 15th Region Tournament.

Magoffin County beat JC 56-54 @ Magoffin on 1/10.
JC beat Magoffin County 84-82 @ JC on. 2/2.

JC is 24-6 on the season.
Magoffin County is 18-10 on the season.

Magoffin County could make a movie about this 57th District tournament alone.....

- Magoffin County is coming off a dramatic win for the ages, a comeback that will be talked about at Magoffin for years to come.
- Magoffin County is looking to win the District on their home court in the first year of their new school.
- Magoffin County is riding the shoulders of their Mr. Basketball candidate and coaches son.
- This is Magoffin County's best chance to go to their first ever Sweet 16. This might be MC's best team in school history and this might be the weakest 15th region tournament ever.
- Magoffin County may have fans come out for this game that haven't been to a high school game in over 20 years.

JC is coming in to this game the villains.

- JC has been the King of the 15th Region over the past five seasons...... Four straight regional championships and one regional runner-up
- Blair & Crace with their hairdo's (I like that they have this gimmick..... it's like their 90's Tag Team Pro Wrestlers)
- Just about everybody from JC's wears their Football State Championship and Regional Championship shirts from almost every sport to the games.
- Our student section chants "Let's Play Football", which, IMO, is awesome.
- Everybody wants to win, but getting a win over Johnson Central is the highlight of some teams entire season. Or even playing us close can be just as big (Believe me, I hear it in person from A LOT of people.) "We had JC down 4 in the 2nd qtr."

I like JC by 9 in this one. They are the poised group that knows how to finish games. They won't let happen what SC let happen late in the game.

This Magoffin team has just found a way to win close games at home this year. If it's a one score game I'm going with the Hornets. If JC can extend the lead out to 7 or more late I think they can win. Another key factor that we saw in the last game between these two was depth. Magoffin can not afford to get Lovely, Mullins, and Russell in foul trouble because there is a big drop off when they go to the bench.

I want to say that Magoffin County did a great job hosting the 57th District tournament. Your school is beautiful and is something your county can be proud of.

JC played one heck of game tonight offensively and defensively. It looked like they were really prepared to take advantage of certain mismatches. They also pressured the ball out of Lovely and Russell's hands all night long. Big congratulations to JC on another district championship! Mullins for Magoffin looked really banged up tonight with two instances where he had to be helped off of the court. He gritted it out tonight but you could tell he was not full strength and MC had a big drop off going to the bench. Hopefully he will be 100% for the regional tournament. I would not be surprised at all to see these two meeting again next week.
