SV's Jim Hicks gets no asst. coaches for post season
#1
Word from the East Ridge teepee (and Pikeville Walmart) is that Jim Hicks will get no assistant coaches for the post season to be on sideline with him.

He had 3 assistant coaches (Eric, Alvin, and Jeremy) all year but they never would do the required rules clinic online despite numerous warnings from the KHSAA. I heard the makeup fine is a few hundred dollars which I guess they didn't want to pay since they missed the deadline.

KHSAA rules state that a coach that doesn't take the rules clinic can not sit on the bench during the post season in any capacity (even manager or stat man).

This is just another black eye Hicks has given the SV basketball program if he doesn't get any assistants to somehow take the rules clinic by their game time. Sad and embarrassing day for SV.

Hard to believe that they would be that careless. Guess they'll just have to pay the penalty fine in order to be on the sidelines.

Just found this on KHSAA website. Looks like deadline is up but fine would have been $200. Looks like Hicks won't have any assistants for ER game. We can still win but Sad for the program!

HEAD AND ASSISTANT COACHES

The clinic is required for ALL coaches at each school, head or assistant, paid of unpaid.
For member schools, the clinics are located on the School Log-in Page. To access the clinic, go to
http://schools.khsaa.org
and — under the section entitled Rules Clinics — click on the link that says “View Online Rules Clinics“.
October 5 to January 9 – the Basketball Clinic will be online only and may be viewed at no charge during this period.
January 10 to February 5 – the Basketball Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($100) during this period. This late fee will be refunded to new (first year) coaches (first time ever in basketball, not the first year at a school). If this first-year exemption is needed, contact the KHSAA office.
January 6 to February 19 – the Basketball Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($200) per the Bylaw 27 schedule during this period. This late fee will be refunded to new (first year) coaches (first time ever in basketball, not the first year at a school). If this first-year exemption is needed, contact the KHSAA office.
On or after February 19, postseason penalties per Bylaw 27 will apply. For schools not entering the playoffs, additional administrative penalties will apply.

Hard to believe a school with such a great reputation as SV has, would have this much drama going on.

Who is the AD? Doesn't some responsibility also lie there ?

This is an AD problem,

Not sure who your sources are but they are
wrong. If you need a copy of the certification I can email them to you. Quit trying to hurt a bunch of kids that has worked very hard.

Sad times in the Valley if true!

Sad that someone would be so petty and starved for attention they completely make something up like this.

Close friend to coach hicks and his family I wish him the best of luck and God bless him

Source may be on to something. After digging on KHSAA website I have found Hicks has listed himself as head coach, JV coach and freshmen coach and named no other coaches in his staff. Here is link http://khsaa.org/general/resources/membe...ool_id=296.

Again, hopefully SV can get it corrected in time for game Wednesday and put it on the Warriors . Will ER coach McCoy be coaching this one? I know he has been out some time now.

Looks like many people think they don't have to follow KHSAA rules especially Perry county central

Looks like my sources were CORRECT. Hicks and Co. owe me a big thank you from saving him and his program a complete embarrassment.

Looks like they KHSAA gave permission for staff to take rules clinic even though after deadline but have to pay the big fine.

The couple post that were put on here saying this is false, I already have my credentials, etc were fake news!

One question, with all the late fees pouring in yesterday does school tax payer money or personal money pay all these fines? KHSAA loves days like yesterday. Post-Christmas bonus

Just curious why do you have it in for Hicks? Most of your posts include him. Did you have a son that played for him? Just kind of strange🤔.

Looks like the AD would be responsible for making sure this is taking care of too me.
