owsley vs Lee
#1
Should be a good game with a couple of top region player meeting up,any predictions
#2
Lee by 16... Maybe more
#3
Owsley by 8/10.
#4
Snow by 1-4

Call me what you want, but I will be surprised if Lee wins by less than 20. After getting to see more from Owsley County, I really don't feel like these two teams are as evenly matched as most seem to think. Lee County is a much better team and that will show throughout the game tomorrow.

I have to agree. Gibson is impressive no doubt but Lee plays as a team and that's hard to beat

Lee lady cats gets the win over owsley lady owls good job

Lee's Hannah Kash is a very good player. She had 31 tonight for Lee. Can't remember the exact final score but I think it was Lee 69 Owsley 61. Gibson had 28 for Owsley but they did a good defensive job on her.
Lee had more balance in their offense than Owsley. They had several different girls that scored 3 pointers to help Kash in the effort. Owsley is a little young with two 8th graders, a freshman and a sophomore to go along with junior Macie Gibson in the starting lineup, and a couple more 8th graders as subs.

In my opinion the 2 best players in the 14th region reside in the 56th district. Kash is the number 1 backcourt player and Gibson is the number 1front court player. It would be amazing what those two could do together if they were on the same team.

Those saying that Lee is that much better of a team than Owsley are delusional. Gibson had an off night shooting, had nothing to do with Lee defending her well. These 2 teams will meet again on Monday in the All A and with some minor adjustments and good game from Gibson Owsley is more than capable of winning the game.

Where will the All A game be played Monday?

I agree with you that there's not much difference in these two teams. And Gibson did indeed have an off shooting night and still had 28. But I do think Lee is a little older and more experienced than Owsley. Plus, the Lady Owls are going to have to figure out how to stop Kash. Lee goes as she goes. And she is consistent, averaging 26 ppg. She also probably leads the region in steals.
Owsley's chances ride on the back of Gibson, and I have a feeling Monday night that she'll rise to the occasion.

Game Monday is at Lee @ 6. I don't expect Lee to get spotted 18 in 1st quarter like tonight. Should be a good one.

Lee played most of the game with out Henry their senior witch grabs some extra boards to help out and 8 to 10 point a night and team wise they did force a lot of turn over with there speed kash was on point doing her thing ,Tipton 5 or 6 steals and drives,Hogan and Ross pit bull defense style and big 3's help
TEAM is the word
56 games is always competitive and yes monday night will be a tough game for both

Let's don't forget lee cool handed gaurd sara Estes and there bench 2 8th graders Slone and Donation also there 6'2 7th grader Morgan H.

Well everybody is allowed an opinion, and mine is the two best players in the 14th region are Proffitt and Hall at PCC stats don't lie and they are at the top. I will say Gibson and lash are 3 and 4
#18
Gibson is a nice player and Owsley is young but no one anywhere willing to admit how good Lee is. I'm not from Lee co but these girls can play. Kash can do anything and the other 4 girls are great shooters. I think the game tonight accurately reflected the difference in these two teams. Monday night will be the same imo
#19
Owsley had an off shooting night. Lee did not. Owsley missed 4/5 lay ups to start the game and spotted lee a double digit lead to start game. That won't happen again. Each time these teams step on the floor it will be a good one. Both are good teams capable of beating anyone. With that being said the important game is Monday night and I expect a different result. Like boogie said a couple of minor adjustments and a different result.
Owsley by 6/8 Monday Night.

Agreed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Hear is mine. The best player in this region is Gibson and it's not close. Leads state in scoring and rebounding. A true division 1 prospect.

Kash is probably second her motor and basketball IQ seperate her.
#21
I guess I shouldn't be so surprised that Owsley managed to keep it closer than expected at home, but that will definitely not be the case on Monday. Call me what you will, but I know that this Lee County team is an overall better team than Owsley.

Also, for those who seem to think I am delusional, it quite easy to see why I and anyone besides an Owsley homer would think that Lee County is a 20+ point favorite over the Owls. Just take Elliot County as a perfect example. Both Lee and Owsley played them twice this year, once at the JP Deaton Classic and once at home. Owsley beat them by an average of 16 points and Lee beat them by an average of 37.5 points. :truestory:

Lindsey Profitt from Perry County Central is the leading scorer in the state. Gibson's ppg have dropped since the last update on the KHSAA website.

I can't believe anyone would think Lee is a 20 point better team than Owsley. Lee shot well last night, Owsley didn't and it was close. If you were honest about it you would admit that there is very little difference in these two teams and each game could go either way.

Doesn't change the point that Gibson is the best player in the region.

Gibson is best player in 14th and honestly it isn't even close. She can post, put the ball on the floor and can shoot the ball from deep. By far the most well rounded player I've seen this yr.

Last time I checked Perry County Central was in the same region as Owsley County.

Lee has a very good team. I was impressed with their play. I said in another post that they were more experienced than Owsley, and Kash had her way with Owsley's young guards. But Owsley still only lost by 8 as bad as they played. Maybe the younger girls will just keep on improving, as 8th and 9th graders should do with more game experience, and give the Owls what they need for the post season tournaments. The 56th district tournament and the region are what's important. Regular season only gives them the game time practice they need to get ready for that.

Everyone knows Perry is in this region. What does that have to do with anything when talking individual players. I said that Gibson is best player in region. Do you disagree.

I still think Gibson is the best player and college prospect in the region. Proffitt and Hall play on a team that has more seasoned supporting cast than what Gibson plays on. Owsley's younger girls are going to be good in time, but for this season they are forced to play at a varsity status at very young ages, when girls at that age are usually gaining their experience at a JV level. But Owsley is a small school of 200 high schoolers and doesn't have the numbers to pull from to establish their teams like a Perry Central or other large regional schools.
Gibson is constantly the focus of attention from every team she plays against, seeing double and triple team defenses. If she played for one of the larger regional schools she would probably average 40 a game because no one is going to stop her without double coverage. She played very solid basketball last summer for one of the Kentucky Premier teams and will play again this summer. But it is what it is right now. Owsley's younger players are going to be very good with more experience and time, and they're playing as hard as they possibly can. One good point is Macie is a junior and has one more year and will have more help in the future as these girls get better.

Big Hammer has it right. The two stars on Perry Central are the two best in the region.
