Doubtful.
Pburg had one of the highest enrollment averages in 2A in the most recent realignment. They were either 7th or 8th highest

Jus heard that there was a secret committee of Henry & a few others deciding the schedule & designing the uniforms. CRAZY!!!! Jus hire a coach & let them make the coaching decisions. I believe everyone (student, parents, etc..) from BOTH schools should have a say if we're makin committees. How do u get on these committees??? However, the Head Coach should b making these decisions. Make a hire Henry. Jus read that this is a 'turn-key' deal regarding all sports & all uniforms, etc... So are u saying the people constructing our school decide the coaches and uniforms???? I just don't understand? Also read this was all political. But this can't b political because that would infer everyone has a voice & that's definitely not what's happening at Floyd Central. So if you r a potential coaching hire b afraid - very afraid. Looks like a committee will b telling u how to run your team & everything that goes with it. After hearing all this bring Hagar on board because I sure don't think even he'd agree with everyone else running HIS program & making HIS decisions. I'm sure he'd put a stop to a mommy deciding what his boys are gonna wear & who they are gonna play on Friday Night!!!

Looks incredible! Don't like the Jaguar theme though
I personally liked the "Thundering Elk"

Where's the track? Did nobody think about a track team? Doesn't look like there's room around the football field where it usually is located. Just curious

Letcher Central which formed in 2005 still has no track. Cat mascot, royal blue, and went with "central". Harlan County was original. Different color scheme and Black Bears for mascot. You have one opportunity to do it, might as well doit right. No cougars or jaguars in EKy. Lots of Elk though.

Last I heard they cut the track out because of expense and the fact that neither school fields a track team.

So we (the people of Floyd co) spend $50 mil on a school & we can't have a track? Curious how much extra that would've been? Both schools might not have track teams but there's tracks around both schools fields & that doesn't mean this new school might not want more for their students. With the consolidation did nobody think we might have more kids & that would allow us to have more teams for those same kids? With the athletes I think will come through this new school we could have a dandy track team - let's get the kids off the phones & away from T.V. s & other things. Like I said on a earlier post no vision by administrators.

Last I heard South Floyd and Allen Central both have a track and since Allen Central is closer, the track there will be used by the new school.:argue:

Wouldn't you have to cross that huge Abner Mountain?

How is there a schedule when they've not hired a coach or athletic director? Who is making the schedule & how do you find out whose on it? When you ask people at the school board they say no one is hired & there's no committees so who is making the schedule for multiple years?

If I were them I'd be going somewhere! PBurg sounds like a mess right now! I'd say your right! They'll be more than a few leaving! Not too sure it'll be something that is a quick turn around for them or not!

big dawg, small yard Wrote:south central will drop into a 2A as well they won't gain 100 kids by building a new school. kids around the wheelwright area is closer to shelby valley than the new south central school pike county has also agreed to run a bus to melvin to pick up kids that are willing to go to school over there due to that reason
A teacher at Valley Elementary told me that Pike County had declared that no county school buses were allowed to go over Abner Mountain. Said that any school teams that were playing at South Floyd had to take the long way around. This was apparently relayed to the teachers by the principal of the school.
If this is true, then there won't be any bus going over to Melvin every day to pick up kids to attend Shelby Valley.

Well, I guess those kids will be getting up at 5 AM to catch the bus with either school they go to.

I would love for my Dawg's to drop down to 2a. That is the class we had our best years in throughout the 90's. We went to 3a then 4a somehow and now back down to 3a.

Floyd Central is ready to play some Football.
I would hope for the sake of the kids, that a HFC will be in place very soon. Getting the kids who don't play Basketball in the weight room and on the field ASAP there could be a huge benefit.

Me too & the kids deserve it. But, I'm not gettin my hopes up. Everything seems like they're going about it backwards & only a 'special' few seem to know what's going on. You would think they would've made hire as soon as the footbal season was over???

What may doom this program before it even starts is getting its feeder schools organized and interested in football. I may be wrong, but McDowell, May Valley, and several other schools in the area don't even have football teams. I do know for fact that Allen Elementary started a JR. High team but cancelled their season half way through due to not enough kids left to field a team. Any great High School program starts at the youth level. Until this gets addressed, Floyd Central will not be relevant. No disrespect intended, just telling the truth...
