Area teams Ashland, Russell, and Raceland play great ball around the area and then come up against Belfry, JC, and Paintsville and get blown out almost every year. We have Ashland losing 51-0 in 3rd, Russell losing 36-6 at half, and Raceland losing 14-0 at half. These 3 area teams losing 101-6 at half. We have to start playing better ball vs. these Three teams and at least make these games interesting.

Feeder program, feeder program, feeder program

Belfry and JC have excelled in KYMSFA playing statewide competition..Ashland forfeits against Belfry instead of playing them.

The NEKY have to evolve their feeder system but it is also cyclical

Belfry drives to 1 and fumble on 1st and Goal Russell returns it deep into belfry territory
#22
Interception by Woolum in the endzone
#23
The first couple of plays for Russell and Interception and quick TD, Then Russell went out quick second time and Belfry runs the punt back 60 yards and that quick it was 14-0. Then a big run of 60 yards on third drive and another score to make it a quick 21-0. You can't play that way against a team as good as Belfry. Coach Maynard was trying to open it up on that first drive but you can't throw a quick Int. and then TD against this Belfry team. If they play solid like they have all season to be 11-1 this game could be closer. The Defense for Russell has been awesome this year but you can't give up Interceptions in red zone and Punt returns 60+ yards and expect the Defense to hold up. These area teams come up here to Belfry, JC, and Paintsville and its blowout after blowout. Where does these three teams come up with so much talent. It seems like they each have 5 or 6 strong running backs to go along with excellent QB and receivers and their D line and O Lines are huge. Russell has seen this for the last 7 or 8 years and you would think eventually that Russell will be able to knock off Belfry.

Hats off to the Pirates from Cougar land. Belfry has been and is continuing to show much of the state what football is like at their school. Its not just a game for these young men , its a way of life. Good luck Pirates, hope you win it all.
