Raceland at Paintsville 11/18
#31
Blue_Bird96 Wrote:True last matchup took OT to decide but we all know the display of Home cooking as admitted by Rams fans. That being said Paintsville will be at LEAST 2 TD's better in this playoff matchup! Paintsville is playing with a fire and focus we didn't see in the first game. Sounds as if Raceland is just not! The Big man pounding the ball through the line has been a great help to take some pressure off KP on offense along with the deep threat of the Allen twins, not to even mention Paintsville's Defense which is the backbone of this Fired up Paintsville team!! Rams gonna find them selves in a BIG Hole in the first half and don't think they'll bring a big enough shovel to dig out of it!!

I agree. Raceland is good, don't get me wrong, but Friday we will see how they hold up when the refs aren't with a bias. Paintsville by 14

Please , you bring up refs after last year .. Ref are terrible haven't seen a good group all year don't expect to see a good one this Friday either

Officiating has been a horrid mess from the NFL on down. WAY too much conferencing, leads me to believe they dont even understand alot of the rule changes or rules in general. I was told by a KHSAA official that a DL or OL can "line up inside the neutral zone, as long as you dont cross the ball"...can someone explain that to me?

The crew that we had last night was one of the worst I've seen all year. They had no control over the game at all and they made costly calls on both sides.

This game HAS to be our State Championship. We must use our line to mash Paintsville and dictate tempo. Our running game has to be effective against a loaded box and throw when necessary. I believe that the Rams come our with Focus and Fire and Desire to win this game to get the monkey off their back. Its hard to beat a team twice in season let alone twice in a month. Much like the Pikeville/Paintsville series last year, it may have took them getting beat in the regular season to give that added motivation. A little revenge in the heart will go a long way. Obviously Phelpls and Morris are going to get theirs, however, stopping the big play is a must. I honestly feel like this one will not be decided in 4 qtrs. If the Rams come out and take it to Paintsville, forcing them to play out of hole, the Rams can slow the game and play keep away. Keep in mind these teams know each other so well, its likely that the coaches will be calling the other teams play from sidelines as both teams are quite predictable. Its one of those you know whats coming just try and stop up kind of things. As far as predictions go I am going to say Rams do what it takes to WIN by less than a touchdown. This game will be a battle. LETS GO RAMS.

Are the two ejections among the costly calls you're referring to? Were they warranted or just the result of poor officiating?

Fairchild's a big loss for the Rams in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

I hear alot of what ifs and whining from Paintsville fans about the refs. Your team and coaches earned the yellow hankies. The results are what was on the field last time you were 6 points better then we were, but it took overtime to get there. Both teams are pretty even and I personally look forward to the Rams giving your team it's first loss and bouncing your Tigger butts out of playoffs

The ejections were a result of the players losing their cool and making poor choices and were justified. The costly calls were poor spots and missed flags. I saw several uncalled facemask and holding calls on both sides. On one of our two point conversions we missed they called the runner short when the ball crossed the plane. They also missed a few late hits on both sides and honestly we are lucky more players weren't ejected because we played very undisciplined and the same can be said for Nicholas County. All in all it was a very sloppy game and they have to get their emotions in check. If we play like that next week we will not win.

I won't make no prediction on this game but I will say this... I've been waiting a while to see a hazard vs Raceland matchup... I'm not saying that's who I'm picking but I've been looking forward to one since 2008.

Best officiating crew I have seen in some time was last night in the Pulaski County/Whitley County game. Calls were fair and correct for both sides. When tempers flared, they went to both huddles and spoke with them. There were no others issues the rest of the game and players from both sides were friendly and respectful during on field activities after the game.

Never any what ifs from Paintsville! We won that game. Just facts about how Lopsided it was called. Blaze was the first to admit how embarrassing it was! Fact is they kept Raceland in it! We won't need OT to decide this one! We won't even need 4 Qt's! TIGERS will have a strong handle on this game by mid way through the 3rd! Paintville D was good in the first go around but their exceptional now! With the horrible officiating it appeared evenly matched! Different game, different field, higher margin of victory!

I look for this game to be an all out war once again. Really looking forward to watching this one. Best of luck to both teams!

I Have a question about a call last night Racelsnd punted I didn't see the Nicholas co player call a fair catch but either way the ball hit the ground he fielded it took two steps them was hit by Raceland player . 1 if he did call for a fair catch and starts to run that should've been a penalty on him but Raceland was given a 15 yard penalty . My question is once the ball hits the ground is the fair catch still in effect next if he starts to run why is that a 15 yard against the other team

Along with that when they threw the flag I thought it was against the Nicholas player bc he threw the ball and started screaming at the official

Yes ejection was due to a bad decision for sure. NC was by far the dirtiest team we have played all year. I can't say I would have acted different. If you have access to film watch it. NC player was in top of Fairchild punching him in the side. Don't know too many kids that could not lay there and not react to that. It's always the second guy who gets caught. Big Week Rams lets kick some butt......

He called for a fair catch. It hit the ground, he attempted to field the ball and run after he got possession. That in itself is illegal. Once he does that, the raceland cover guy tackled him. Had he caught the ball and been hit while standing still, its a PF on the cover team. But its my understanding that if he does what he did, its a penalty on the recieving team. So i am as lost as u are.

In regaurds to the officiating in the first Ram/Tiger match up, imo, three were "blown calls or questionable".

-The PF call on Pville on Raceland's opening drive was simply a kid making a play and a late whistle, thats on the ref, not the kids playing till the whistle blows. Bailey was on the ground after being tackled, the whistle never blew, he got up to run again, the then got hit right as the whistle was finally blown. Bad call.

-the incomplete call on the 30 yd line near the baseball field side, Allen caught that ball.

-The hold that called the Phelps TD back, was thrown behind the play by about 5 yards. But it happened just as he turned the corner. Imo, that could have gone either way but the flag was late.

The rest of it was simply one team getting caught. Was their a homefield advantage? It looked this way, but imo, there could have been one on any play. It was a rough, physical, chippy game. But imo, most of them should have been let go. The sideline warnings and resulting penalties were all earned and theres not a single fan, player, or parent that can dispute that. Paintsville over came and won, idk why this keeps coming back up. A fan that brings it up, they simply have an inflated sense of fanship lol, nothing wrong with that. But that game was a battle, as this one will be as well. I just wish we could let the games stand as they are. I have always said "dont let officiating dictate the outcome of a game or your performance". Thats my two cents.

Agreed. I can't say that I don't know too many people who would have put up with that either. Nicholas was definitely a a dirty team. I saw one of their players punch one of our guys in the third quarter and he didn't get ejected. After we scored one of our TD's, one of their players picked up a foam cup that rolled onto the field and threw it into a Raceland player's face and was trash talking. Again no ejection. It is unfortunate that Fairchild was ejected for defending himself but like you said the second guy always gets caught.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not but the kid definitely should have seen some sort of consequence for that. You can't tell me that throwing trash in someone's face isn't unsportsmanlike conduct.

I don't care about the penalties cause it's part of the game! What I don't understand is after every flag the refs meet in the middle of the field for five min then go talk to each coach!Throw the flag,Mark of the penalty, spot the damn ball and let's play football!!!!
I mean damn....two hours to play a half cause the Refs wanna talk about everything. What is there to talk about on A off sides penalty???

I say the same thing but dang it if Paintsville coulda done much more that what they did to try to make it where the officials couldn't have taken it! Every big play that coulda separated it got Flagged so it's hard for you to really use that Quote here! Just funny NOW how the officiating of that game "wasn't THAT bad" and must be brought up because of a fans inflated sense of fanship! Lol. The 1 thing both sides agreed on after that one was it was TERRIBLE!!

Also like how the flags on the sideline penalties were all EARNED! :hilarious:! Yea they were and I would hope Raceland woulda had some of the same penalties had they caught the calls Paintsville was catching!

Just don't try to play it off like it was an even close. Looks bad on everyone! I highly respected Orange Blaze for being the first one to call it how it was! Shows He's a straight up guy!

Agree! If you seen a penalty, throw your flag and stand by your call! Just makes it look like your second guessing yourself if you have to get another officials thoughts! If it was an iffy foul then keep your yella flag in you pants and let the play roll! It's getting ridiculous! The big play hardly exists anymore. 90% chance it's gonna be holding or some sort of penalty!

A coach that is 15 yards out of the box, 10 yards onto the field, rippin anyone with a striped shirts a$$, is earning the sideline warnings and ensuing penalties were earned. Never said the yardage was close. Not even in the ball park. It was a horribly officiated game, i said it during and after.

And i would have reacted the same way Chirico did if it were me. Doesnt change the fact that even if they are wrong, the white hat is always right inside their zebra striped and cookie cutter world of insanity lol. Bad year for officials in general.

But to say that Paintsville didnt do a single solitary thing wrong, or atleast act, or imply that the mighty tigers couldnt have done anything to merit the penalties, is no different than what i was accused of.

It was bad, its always bad, it always takes away from the game and it always pisses me off to see kids play their butts off, have a game dictated and mandated by a bunch of egos in striped shirts.

That game is over now and we should focus on the next one. The bottom line is Raceland lost the last time despite having opportunities to win. I have faith that our coaching staff will put together a game plan to allow our boys to be in a position to win this time around. I also believe that our boys will play with an intensity that we haven't seen all year. I realize most of the Paintsville fans aren't giving us much of a chance but I firmly believe that this team will surprise you and don't be shocked if we come down there and leave with the regional championship. This is going to be hard hard fought game folks and I will be very surprised if either team wins by 2 or more scores.

Should be a great game. Hopefully you get a good crew to call it. Always glad to get to the playoffs. Refs from outside our region seem to do a much better job. Crew from Lexington who did Hazard/Williamsburg game Friday did an excellent job.
