Well from what I saw tonight, I think Caldwell could be the second best team in 3a. That is if Riley stays healthy throughout the playoffs. They had us on the ropes for most of the first half. At one point the had the Cards down 21-10 in Mayfield. Mayfield kept their composure and went on a 42-6 run after that. They are very and I mean very explosive. I feel better about the west side of 3a now.

Mayfield had over 600 yards of offense.
Landon Arnett was 17-27 for 393 yards.
Trajon Bright ran it 28 times for 213 yards.
Jordan Harrison had 2 catches for 140 yards.
Jack Murrell had 4 catches for 123 yards.
Caldwell's Shane Burns was 20-35 for 284 yards.

Burns is a heck of a QB, that said, I hate seeing us let anyone throw for 284 yards on us. I loved the Tiger fullback, he was a brute
Good come back by the Cards that started right before the half. We certainly have a never quit attitude. Great adjustments in second half or execution whichever or both it was

Mayfield pounds another pretender from the West.

Fellas, I'm not exaggerating. I came into this game thinking Caldwell may be in the hunt for the west side. I didn't think they stood a chance against Belfry or Corbin. I left this game thinking how much better they were than Corbin. I really think they will win the east and give the Pirates a tough test at BG. Much to my surprise. That is, if their speedster didn't get too banged up last night.

Not sure if I agree that Caldwell is better than Corbin, but I do think they are pretty good. I didn't attend last night's game, but by listening to it it sounded like the breaks all went against Mayfield early on. A touchdown called back for a hold on the other side of the field and way behind the play, another big run that would have been a TD had the runner not been horsecollared at the 5 caused a fumble that Caldwell recovered in the end zone that wasn't flagged. Then after letting the horsecollar slide they call Mayfield for a helmet to helmet hit that kept a drive alive that turned into a TD a play or 2 later. All this was early and Caldwell led at half. Once the 2nd half started, it was over quick once the bad breaks where gone. Maybe the radio announcers where drunk, but that's what I took from the 1st half, and they usually call it like they see it. There was a play in the 2nd half that they said Mayfield could have been called for a pass interferance. It did sound like Caldwell missed some opportunities by overthrowing receivers.

You done lost your got dang mind!
Even 64SUR wouldn't jump on this bandwagon.
Caldwell has a very good Offense but you aren't even going to reach Bowling Green with a Defense that can't stop the run or pass.
This is probably the craziest thing you have said since you proclaimed Tilghman was about to build a dynasty under Coach Rogers
I will say I expect them to win their Region though.. but I don't think they have the Defense to hang with whoever comes out of Region 2 on the road. We are also skipping over the fact Caldwell has a mental roadblock they still have to overcome as well. This team is 0-5 over the past two seasons in games decided by a TD.

Fellas, Does anybody remember the Corbin and Mayfield score. H@LL I forgot :lmao:

I'll say this not saying Corbin is better than Caldwell, but I'm not willing to say Caldwell is better than Corbin either. In both games Mayfield showed they could impose their will at times, but a few plays kept it close. I definitely think Corbin adjusted better at half. I'd probably lean towards Corbin being better, but Caldwell is explosive, and has a good passing game.

Just saying, Corbin beat Central by 1... At Corbin I believe...
Makes be feel a lot better about Johnson Central in the playoffs too, considering Franklin Simpsons beat Caldwell 14 to 6.

That game was called at halftime. Who knows what would have happened in a 4 quarter game. Caldwell was on the 1 yard line at the end of the half.

Now wait just a minute Killbilly. I guess you can tell more about who is better by listening to it on the radio? You were not at the Corbin game and I was. 64, you were not at the Caldwell game and I was. You all have short memories. This is the same coach and the same explosive offense that wasn't gonna beat DeSales in 12, but did, without the very good defense. They should have made it all the way in 13. They lost both qb's in the regional championship with a huge lead on Murray. That sparked the comeback and the Murray come from behind win. Then Murray, who was getting their butts kicked by Caldwell, went to DeSales and may have won if not for a terrible call the refs made that cost them 5 games at the start of the 13 season. Now, 14 & 15 was rebuilding years with a very young qb, who is now ready. Mark my words, they are coming. By the way, they had a key player hurt until recently.

I don't think Caldwell is as good as Corbin, but, they are dangerous. IMO, Corbin and Belfry are the best 2 3a teams out there, but, they both play on the east side of the bracket, so, they both can't make it to state. The west is wide open and, I give Caldwell a really good chance to come out of the west.
Central and Boyle Co are down, ETown doesn't seem as good as last year, Bardstown and Lex Cath are very beatable and while Tilghman is putting up huge offensive #s these past few weeks, they're still so erratic that I don't see them putting together 4 games in a row, so, Caldwell has as good a shot as any, although I'd probably favor Lex Cath if I had to put money on it..

What are you smoking. Caldwell did not lose there qb against Murray in 2013, and they trailed most of the game, Murray just ran it straight down there throats, then got throttled the next week by desales. 2014 is the year Sindelar got hurt against Murray that sparked the comeback, and Murray did give desales a game that year. I'm not understanding the refs cost Caldwell 5 games comment. I think your memory is foggy. As far as Caldwell, and Corbin i won't argue to much with you on who is better since you seen both, and I didn't.
10-30-2016, 02:36 PM
Bright didn't play against Corbin did he? I don't know how much of an effect he would have had but I feel Mayfield would have had an even more efficient offense if he had been playing.
55-I'm shocked you are defending Caldwell, maybe your not as biased as I thought!!!
Mayfield is extemely talented. To beat them you better be able to efficiently throw the ball and limit their big plays on offense. It'll be a tall task. If you can't throw the ball you can forget it, cause they have too much speed on defense to get beat by someone running it all the time. Also, you better not turn the ball over. Cause they won't. Good luck to the Cards. Go embarrass the East again.

Killbilly, as usual, your are all screwed up again. The refs lost 5 games the next season as a result of their blown call in the Murray/ DeSales game. Catch up before you post please.

My bad on the year. I was thinking 13 was Sindelar's last year.
10-30-2016, 05:29 PM
In '13 Sindelar threw 5 picks in a very cold, wet, and blustery night. Murray just rammed it down their throat all night.

It was the 2015 season the refs missed the first 5 games due to the blown call in the 2014 semis between Murray/Desales the way you had it wrote I couldn't understand what the heck you where talking about. You have your years way out of whack. You said the refs missed 5 games the 2013 season. Now where finally on same page. As to this game really glad Caldwell challenged them for a half, Mayfield hasn't been challenged enough this season, hope it don't come back to bite them in the playoffs.
10-30-2016, 11:45 PM
They have been challenged in 3 games now. I think the magical red helmet clad Cards will be just fine. I may have had the years messed up, but the refs had the call messed up.
11-01-2016, 01:52 AM
Cards just keep on rolling. No challenge until semis
