Adair

Casey by 1. Driving towards the rematch with Corbin

For beginners, Adair County is 7-2 with loses to Edmonson County and E-Town. Not sure how they lost to last place Edmonson County, but they managed to do it.
I really don't see Casey County having a lot of trouble with this game. They're at home and they've just faced Corbin, so Adair County will be like facing a Freshman team compared to the Redhounds.
Casey County - 38
Adair County - 21

In my opinion, Adair has underachieved this season and Casey has stayed on par with their schedule. With that said, I'm taking Adair in a close one on the road. 34-28

Chance Melton was injured in the Hart Co game was told he will probably miss this game. If this is true Adair will be in trouble.

I didn't know this. I will take Casey if that's the case. Adair has the athletes though. Could we see the wildcat Friday night? How does their backup look?

Edmonson was the obvious head scratching slip up, but those happen. However, I never expect them to beat E-town & I've been as big of an Adair fan as there has been these last few years (especially 14 & 15). Adair lost some unsung, yet key pieces off last years team that made the engine run. They lost several key cogs in their front 7-8 on both sides.

Let's be honest about E-town, they were very beatable for Adair this year. They're not the E-town of the past. Had that game been played in Adair, I may have taken the Indians to win that one. Their offense is loaded with a capital L when they're all healthy. Anymore than 2 or 3 losses with that schedule is a disappointment in my opinion. This game against Casey is defining for me.

No, but let's also be honest. The talent that Adair has coming through there right now is par for the course on a yearly basis (give or take a little) for places like E-town.
E-town's Junior class & a couple of their senior skill kids were and are every bit as good as the kids at Adair. That junior class for E-town, most all of which has stayed in tact, won their conference regular season as 8th graders (a conference with the likes of North Hardin, John Hardin, Central Hardin and Meade County feeder schools).....only to lose to Bluegrass Middle School (John Hardin's feeder) in the conference championship (rematch. TK Stone beat them in the regular season if not mistaken). You can't win that conference at any point in the season without a dang good amount of talent as you know.
E-town isn't last year, that's for sure. But, they are still very solid. Most, even myself, were taken back by the East Jessamine loss...but, here East Jessamine goes onto win their 4A District. They were up on North Hardin 12-0 at the half (Caldwell County was up on North 14-0 at the half) & a two score TD to a Bardstown team that might be their best in several years are their only losses. As the season has played out, those aren't as bad as what most perceived.

I think the Rebels rebound with a win 34-20.

The fact that E-town went 10-0 in the regular season last year, and did so in a very convincing fashion, I feel like is what most people are going off of. They aren't 10-0, and aren't close to 10-0, so clearly they must not be anywhere near as good as last year.
With that said, I think Adair has missed a ton of the tackles that graduated last year. I mean, how many pieces of their defense did they have to replace? 6-ish? Replacing half a defense is a big deal to anybody, even if you're Trinity.
We need to look at this game for what it is: Meaningless. It doesn't have any impact on either team for the playoffs. It's all about whatever bragging rights might exist between AC and CC. That's it. If both teams stay healthy, or get healthy, that's all you need. Is winning fun? Heck yeah it is! But, I promise you both teams would rather win next week, if they had to choose.

Just out of curiosity, did TK Stone beat this Adair group in middle school? I don't remember them playing. I only ask that because I know where TK Stone has stacked up in their conference at the time and I know where their conference stacks up with the rest of the state at the middle school level.
What about East Jessamine? E-town should have rocked them, let alone won the game. I would even argue the only loss for them should be Bardstown. I think they would beat North Hardin if they played again right now. Both Adair and E-town should be better than they've shown with the schedule they've each played. With that said, who do you give the edge to between Adair and Casey at this point?

They didn't play. Different conferences. The Hardin/E-town/Meade conference is the better conference by a long shot (compared to Green County, Campbellsville, Taylor County, Hart County, Metcalfe County, Russell County and at that time LaRue County was still in that conference).
If E-town and East Jess play now; maybe. But, that was E-town's first game after graduating all of those 20+ seniors from last year that accounted for almost all of their starting positions.
Adair/Casey? I'm not sure. I really love seeing Casey doing what they are doing. There isn't a better guy in the world than Stoney. I'm glad to see him having some success, after a few years of the exact opposite at a couple different stops. If these sites have done anything, it's really made us focus in on the negatives (much like our society as a whole) of coaches, programs, etc. I still think Adair is very solid, and my love for them isn't a secret. I love seeing places that haven't EVER had success have runs where every Friday night over a few year span looks like a rock concert. It's the stuff high school sports are made of. I love what Travis Gay, his staff and this group of kids were able to get started. I love seeing a guy like Clay Stephens who got the shaft (and, a blessing in disguise now looking back on it) by being fired at Warren Central get to land somewhere that was in the midst of winning, is winning now and will continue to be solid (Adair has a good young group coming up through the MS ranks, again).
In '14 when Adair first started this run, Casey upset them (Jordan Lasley didn't play in '14)....then last year, Adair runs the clock on them. This prediction will seem kind of "blah", but I'm expecting a close game. Now, if Melton isn't playing.....then that's a big hit. He'd start and do WELL for most all programs across the state. He's as dual threat as it gets.

I would like to see him break loose with Miller trying to catch him that would end up being touchdown Lasley.

If I recall Miller had one of his temper-tatrums last year when he was held for 6 carries for less than 20 yards.

I mostly agree with this, but to add to some of the history. This senior and junior group from Adair faced Casey's senior and junior group in 8th grade, Adair undefeated, Casey undefeated, and Casey ran away with the game. Collin Miller was unstoppable in that game and the definite heart of Casey's defense, Gary Propes. Gary Propes did not play last year in the Adair game, and Casey's "all world" defensive player that EKU recruited, DJ White was out due to a concussion. Breece Hayes was pulled from QB and a sophomore was through in to QB the team. Adair embarrassed Casey in a game that got uglier quicker than I've ever seen. But, again, in 8th grade, same teams (mostly), Casey beats Adair in 2012. Casey beats Adair when Gary Propes is a freshman and runs a Casey record 99 yard TD, that was 2013. Casey wins in 2014 at Casey's home. Then Adair picks up the win last year. So with a better offensive scheme, most of Casey's seniors from that 8th grade group are back (physically and mentally), and a much improved junior and sophomore group, I expect this to be a competitive game. I call Casey 35 Adair 18. Casey's defense vs Corbin was vastly improved and impressive if you had been there first hand. A late meaningless pick 6 with 30 seconds left on the clock gave Corbin a bigger lead than the game indicated. Also a pick at the end of the first half with Casey trying to get on the board putting them down 14-0 at the half vs Corbin, instead of 7-0 Corbin. These are still 2 very solid teams, and bragging rights will be earned tomorrow.

No doubt. That's why they play the game. I just know it'll be good to see Gary Propes back in a Casey jersey vs Adair, 3 years removed from his freshman 99 yard TD, 30 pounds of muscle stronger. Adair is much better now too, that is the interesting part. Prayers for a tough injury free game.

Casey 36-26 over Adair. Indeed this was a good game of 2 upper/mid tier teams in 3A. Not without some very sloppy play but still competitive throughout. Adair is well coached with some nice playmakers. I was impressed by their coaching staff and some adjustments they made. I was also impressed by the Casey defense's adjustments at halftime that held Adair scoreless in the 2nd half. Casey's coach Stonebraker made some critical calls down the stretch to allow Casey to get the lead and run the clock out late. The consistently great kicking of young first time player Nick Wilkerson for Casey puts pressure on opponents kickers to make their XP's or put opponents into forced 2 point conversions. Good game, good coaching, and some big plays by both teams to go with some sloppy inconsistent play by both teams.

Yes sir. I hope. Can't look into that future though. Get past Powell next week, pray for no injuries and then hope to play well in 2 weeks against the winner of Estill and Jackson. I have no doubt Casey is the better of those first 2 matchups, but anything can happen. Finding a way to score on Corbin's great secondary will be crucial. Casey 100% matched Corbin's physical play in the first meeting and maybe even had the upper hand most of the time, which was surprising. Corbin was huge on 3rd down, and again Casey had some critical turnovers. If they can clean up the turnovers and find a mismatch or something to exploit in Corbin's defense there is a chance. Casey defense is MUCH improved from the mid season point, especially covering underneath routes and the middle of the field. We must keep continuing to improve. Right now still the best season in our non traditional (except a handful of supporters) team. Maybe we can become a traditonal team the next decade or so.
