Which of 2-4 will come out of west to face JC?
10-24-2016, 03:24 PM
Did Rockcastle County drop a spot by beating and shutting out Knox Central?
Edit: Just looked back at last weekseason and saw that they stayed at 5 this week. No movement, not a drop.

What did last years look like at this time?

South Warren, Johnson Central, Shelby Co. Hopkinsville , John Hardin..
Same schools might be a little different order.

I would rank Rockcastle #3. The strength of 4A this season is in the east. I think that Johnson Central's biggest challenge will come from either Rockcastle or Wayne County. If Franklin Simpson struggles at all with 1A Russelville, it should end the talk of them being ranked over JC. No team on FS's schedule measures up to Capital or Belfry.

I agree with Hoot! The real championship will be between Rockcastle and JC in the state Semis.

I don't think South was number 1 I believe JC was same thing this year .JC loses to Belfry and FS goes to number 1 .then South beats FS South ends up #1.

South has to get past Hoptown to do that. Two things concern me about South:
1) Litten's health. When he's not in at QB, they are a much different team, and much more prone to turnovers.
2) Pass defense. Teams are having definite success against them through the air. A key component of some of their closest games (and loss to Franklin-Simpson) was the pass. Greenwood didn't do a great deal on offense, but two of their biggest plays came on passes. Almost 30% of Franklin-Simpson's passing yardage on the year came against South Warren. And Hoptown is a much better passing team than any team South has seen.
Get past Hopkinsville, South still has to take down Franklin-Simpson on the road. That's a tough back to back. We'll see what South has this time around.
As for other statements about the strength being in the east, I think the strongest team is (Johnson Central). Otherwise, the strength is in the west. five out of the seven teams rated 2-8 are in the west. At worst, I'd call it a push past JC, and there's no way I'd call the east semis "the real state championship". If Johnson Central doesn't win that game, I'm confident your champ does not come from the east.

Far as secondary in playoffs you will see a completely different look I believe with Ford at safety and Litten and Hayes at corners and a3-3 look SW is big enough up front to stop the run .Against FS will all know if Litten stays in that game SW wins .So let's get the playoffs started SW healthy first time since game 2.JP2 will be a real test don't know how Smith will play it.

I'm not really speaking to Litten's current health, but whether he can remain that way. The last two years, he has missed several games, and this year has especially been difficult for him health-wise. He takes a lot of hits running that offense. That's more what I'm speaking to.
John Ford is a heck of an athlete, and I'm interested to see what change he brings to the team. He is a year removed from competitive football - that's a tough spot to step into.

I would not go as far as to say the East semi is the championship but if one of those teams beats JC I wouldn't hand the West team the trophy either.

Litten was ready to play against Allen co and WC that was coaches decision in three years he would of missed 2 games also this is a different O line since FS and they have made some nice running lanes.Early in year Smith was experimenting with line and Litten paid the price making something out of nothing and taking some unessesary hits .Also Ford will get in playing mode very quickly the kid is pumped to get back on field !

I said I'd be confident your champ doesn't come from the east. Confident means exactly that, confident. It is not the same as saying no chance. Rockcastle County in particular has made a habit out of proving people wrong this year, and has probably been the best success story in the class. Wayne County is likewise formidable. I simply believe that the west representative would be the favorite in that scenario.

As in different personnel on the line or a change in performance? (Or both?) I see Coil in place of Blick at center and Lacey in at RG in place of Wilson by the AC/S game. Is that what you are referring to?
In either case, we really need to see it against a team that is up to the challenge to know. They may be making some nice running lanes, but it was against Warren East, Allen County-Scottsville, and Warren Central. East and Central are allowing almost 200 yards rushing per game and over 200 yards rushing per game respectively. Three of the five teams that have beaten AC/S went for over 200 yards on the ground. These are not comparable opponents to a Franklin-Simpson team that has allowed 299 yards rushing through 9 games. Not per game, through 9 games. Now, I'll grant you, we don't know for sure what Hopkinsville can do against the run. They dominated Graves County, who don't really commit to the run. They gave up just over 100 yards to Christian County, easily the best team on their schedule, but Christian County likewise doesn't commit to the run the same way. So we'll see on that. But looking better against East, AC/S, and Warren Central mean very little to nothing to me.
And again on Ford, I wouldn't be surprised if he does get going quickly. I'm just saying, he's going to be immediately in the fire after a year off of football, against a team very talented at passing the ball. I don't think you're giving that game due consideration, simply looking at Franklin-Simpson, and assuming you'll win that one too. Jalen Johnson is certainly the best QB South will have seen in years, since at least Bouchard of Daviess County in 2014. Honestly, he may be the best they've ever seen.
10-25-2016, 11:27 PM
those are two also Hardcastle and French is getting better and as good QB Greer is very talented and SW done a good job with him like I said in another post JP2 will be a big challenge Brooks is a highly rated duel threat QB .and they are big upfront .i posted earlier if South wins against JP2 they will win state .that means changes are working and SW is healthy.
