Good job by the Russell freshmen.
Yes everybody played.

Sounds like Malakai Anderson will be a good running back for Russell the next few years.

He will be a Raceland Ram before it's all said and done.

Very impressed with Anderson and Griffith for Russell. I don't know if Anderson is the RB of the future because he is so tall. If he grows much more, then I would imagine him being a receiver or tight end and a defensive end on that side of the ball. Really good player, though. Definitely the star of the game. Stump seemed to do well for Russell as well. Good play calling on both sides of the ball by the Russell staff. I thought they thoroughly out-coached the Ashland staff in this one.
Ashland's Carley and Hester played on offense only and they are really good. They produced the only offense Ashland had. They needed them on both sides of the ball, though, if they were going to compete because none of the other Ashland defenders could tackle Anderson. Ashland needs to find a way to develop some line players over the next few years. I know John Stone, the center on the high school team, didn't play, but the ones who played tonight better start hitting the weight room and track in the off season.
As for Anderson becoming a Ram, I certainly hope not. He's been at Russell his entire life and TJ has some decent teams coming up with Jachimczuk, Conley (Nick's younger brother), and these guys like Anderson and Griffith. Both Ashland and Russell, though, need to find a way to get bigger, faster, stronger, meaner line play to offer some hope of beating Belfry and/or Johnson Central in the future.

You have a couple of really solid groups coming up for Russell with this freshmen class and the 8th grade class right behind them. Physical maturity and continued time in the weight room will improve the line play. This Russell freshmen line is actually pretty good all the way across on offense and defense.
I've said it before they are a very solid and steady group. Not spectacular but they are all athletic and smart. Just a really good group of kids.
