Im pretty sure that Nathaniel could have broke the state record for passing yards and TDs in a game tonight. Regaurdless of who we have played, he has been lights out for the most part. Cam's TD reception in the 2nd quarter was incredible. Ball was intended to be over his right shoulder, had to look for it over his left, only to catch it over his right, between two defenders. There was one place that the ball could have went for Cam to catch it and Nathaniel dropped in that spot like he was flipping a penny into a fountain at the mall. Valley proved something tonight. You can put 8 in the box and force us to throw...400yds and 6 TDs later, you still get beat. Nathaniel throws and Cam runs the fade as good as anyone in the state imo. Now, flip that and put 6 or 7 in the box and play cover two or zone. He and Cherry will pick you apart in the flats. Then you expose yourself to all that is downhill Bailey Walker and our OL. For the first time in a long time, I think we can win in a shoot out, higher scoring affair. Or we can lull you to sleep and grind it out. With that said...

Special Teams was an absolute joke. Defensively we gave up one TD and a handful of yards. Our special teams has to get better and its not really the kicker. Its coverage. Something has to be done in that area. Other than that, we are starting to mesh offensively, the defense is stout. Just sluggish at times. But again, we played pretty poorly and still hung 62 points on the scoreboard...hard to gripe too much lol

Congrats to the Rams on a dominating performance. As was stated above the special teams need a lot of work but overall I liked what I saw. I really liked the air raid offense tonight and it added a new element to our offense. If they can pass consistently like they did tonight teams won't be able to load the box like they have been doing and it will help open up the run more. This is the most diverse offense that I have seen from a Raceland team in several years and they are going to be a tough out for the rest of the teams on their schedule.

Congrats to Rams. Where did the passing game come from.
#7
Raceland will not be challenged until Paintsville..
#8
Just hope the coaching staff can keep them focused until then

The passing game has been there all year.
270+ against Greenup
300 against Assland
435 tonight

That really is outstanding numbers. Got to be some school records broken in there somewhere.

Plain and simple explanation...hard work. Nathaniel worked his ass off in camps, with Hoof, and with the recievers, they watched a TON of film, Idk if I have ever seen a turnaround in a player like we are seeing in Davidson right now. Right now there is not a throw he cant make. We could have scored 100 and he could have had 600 yards passing tonight if we wanted to. John Cherry is a beast in the slot Cam will beat u down the field. Heck we dropped 3 TD passes tonight. Right now we dont have any issues offensively. Defensively, we look good, outside of our DBs get a little confused at times in coverages, but id say 6/10 pass plays are knocked down and they do cover and tackle well. Just cant breakdown and give up big plays.

Special teams needs to get cleaned up but we looked tough on offense. What was kind of odd for me is it felt like I just blinked and we had scored 42 points. Been awhile since a Raceland team could put up points this quick.

I think of Raceland as a line up behind a behemoth line and run right at you and dare you to stop it.
#13
Won't know what this team is made of until they play Paintsville.

Bailey Walker is averaging 125 yards rushing/game so we are capable of doing both.

Congrats Rams! I'm Not looking forward to next week lol.

Passing game has me thinking a little better about Raceland. :pondering:

436 and 7 TDs is probably a school record. Idk of anyone doing anything over 350 maybe. Idk if anyone has ever scored that many TDs in a game for Raceland either.
#18
Passing TD state record is 9 i believe. Nice to see all of Nathaniel's work paying off.
#19
Congrats Raceland

Though the score doesn't reflect this, Valley really isn't a bad team. They looked really young and it was obvious that graduation hit them hard. They have a few pretty good playmakers and if they can get their defense on track they should be pretty good again in the next couple of years.

WOW! Congrats to Raceland. This has caught my attention and I'd say it caught some Tigers' attention down here in the mountains.

When I see these kind of numbers at the high school level first thing I think is the QB is throwing short passes and the receiver is doing the rest. But we are throwing the ball deep and on the money. If Nathaniel keeps this up in my mind he will be the best QB to have played at Raceland

That is a pretty large compliment considering Aaron Pettrey and Scott Grizzle set the bar pretty high with Coach Vanderhoof's Air Raid offense.

You left out Tyler Boyles, one of the best we've ever had in RAM Land in terms of the total package at QB.
#26
^^True....but I've watched all three play.Im old hehehe
Petrey was mostly screens and short passes(Tim Couch style)
Grizzle threw a good ball but really didn't go through the progression a lot. It was we are throwing it here get rid of the ball.
Nathaniel has really good accuracy on his deep throws and good touch on the short ones. I'm really impressed on the way he goes through the progressions and checks down when the a receiver is covered to find an open man

I, too, have seen all of the above mentioned QBs play and I agree with Ram Dad that Davidson is the best QB Raceland has ever had. He didn't look that way last season, but he has improved significantly from what I have seen. In my opinion, his play gives Raceland a real chance at the state title this season. Now it is up to the Ram coaches whether or not they will simply put the game in his hands when it's time to play the better teams in the playoffs. It always seems the Raceland coaches tend to outsmart themselves in the big games by trying some trick plays, etc.
#28
^^^lord i could not agree more. In the past with kids like Boyles, Carson Christian, or Nathaniel (last year) or Messer at WR/QB, the trick plays and reverse pass stuff was just part of the offense. But what made it work was the QB was running alot so the LBs had to respect that Iso or Delay up the middle. Which opened up the edge on reverses, then the reverse set up the fake reverse and the reverse pass. We are a more "pro-style/west coast offense" than we have ever been. This year, Nathaniel has ran when the pocket breaks down or no one is open. I bet he hasnt ran on a called QB run 10 times this year. Its time to put thise plays to rest, atleast this year. High Flying and ground and pound when need be, is where our money is at. Hats iff to the staff for sticking to it for the most part.
