Looks good.

Obviously Belfry is king until someone derails that train. Corbin justifies their #2 spot virtue of the win over Central Friday night. However, even as a Corbin follower I feel you could put Corbin, Central and LexCath in any order 2-4 and make a legit case. After those 4 teams I think it drops off a bit this year.

Caldwell is a team that needs to be watched closely.....

I think Caldwell's schedule is hurting them. They have a good shot at taking another loss this week.

They haven't taken a district loss, which is really the only thing that matters in the end. I'm sure plenty of people will talk about how a certain level of difficulty in a schedule is needed for the playoffs, but I'm not a firm believer in that.
I don't think early, non-district losses really hurt anybody, unless players get injured. Then you've got a problem.

I don't think Caldwell is in the same conversation as the top 3-4. Lost too much last year. This will be a semi-rebuilding year. Should bounce back in 2017

Ever get the feeling that something(s) that are completely unexpected are going to happen? Everybody thinks the top 5 (including myself preseason) is set in stone. Not sure that's how it's going to play out now. Just an observation.

The Caldwell County vs Franklin Simpson game was called at halftime because of weather. We still don't know how good they are.

Snake, I think you misunderstand my intended meaning. I think the tougher schedule will help them in the long run. I just think for the time being, it hurts their chances of moving upward or maybe even staying in the top ten. Especially since there is a high likelihood that they are gonna start 0-3.

Don't sleep on Fleming Co.. I think they'll knock Russell off this year and win their district and could pull out a win or 2 in the playoffs..

Well....we do know they weren't good enough to lead Franklin-Simpson by half-time.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

What was the story behind that? I know it was weather, but was it raining/storming at kickoff?

If it was like here in Mayfield, which is only about 45-55 minutes away, it was probably stopped due to lightening. The rain followed the delay.

It's a David vs Goliath type situation no doubt.

We will be ok if we come out with the same intensity level every game like we did Friday night these guys were pumped and ready and it showed

The key play of the game came when Caldwell won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half.
Doesn't do you any good to defer to the second half when there is no second half. :big grin:
I felt like Caldwell was just beginning to figure out some things on both sides of the ball in the second quarter, but those two Franklin fumbles also played a big role.
I would have liked to have seen the second half just to see how that would have played out. But there was no way with the lightning and rain that the game could have been restarted before 11:30 or midnight. And Franklin still had a 2-hour bus ride home.
There was actually lightning off in the distance during the second quarter, so the game could have been stopped even sooner, according to today's rules.

You should read his newspaper articles. Especially when he talks about mayfield. He loves to twist things to make Caldwell look good. I've even seen false information printed in the times leader.

I'm sure some of the big 6A schools in Louisville and Bowling Green and South Warren would be favored against Belfry but the Pirates can play with any team in KY this season in my opinion.

I think they could play with anyone, but bowling green and trinity. Trinity especially would be to much for belfry, but there is no shame in that.

Thanks guys for the compliments but they can only put 11 guys at one time on the field and when we're playing to our ability I think our 11 is as good as any of them I would never count them out against any of them

I would say at this point, Belfry is a head and shoulders number one... that might be an understatement. Corbin is clearly number two and Central three. Lexington Catholic is over rated, and Boyle County is name only. Could possible be Waggener out of the west this year? I still say they have to beat Central to do it but 3A is looking weak considering the monster at the top of the mountain.

[QUOTE=bac...Adair co looked really good at times friday night we had 2 of our speedsters break long runs (lasley) and (melton) with Lonnie Grant, and Cam Lasley doing their things. We get our leading receiver from last year back in 2 weeks (Brabson) and top returning linebacker from last year possibly this week (Rodgers) my opinion Coach Stephens gets the kinks worked out on defense we have a shot at beating teams 3 thru 8 but we will have to wait and see how the d improves. I will say this oir offense is pretty good.

3A is way down. Lex Cath and Boyle are not nearly as good as they normally are. Who comes out of the west is anybody's guess
