Ballard Memorial @ Marshall County (9/2)

Ballard Memorial (2-0) @ Marshall County (0-1)

Ballard Mem travels to Draffenville again this year in an attempt to take another game from the Marshals on their turf. Last season the Bombers walked away with a confidence building 26-22 win in a back and forth affair. Freshman QB Erick Marinelli had his break out game throwing 17/23 for 237 yds, 2TD, 0 INT.

This year Ballard Mem returns several nice weapons as they put up big points in their first two games against weaker opponents. Marshall Co took their usual drubbing from Mayfield but truly feel they have made some improvements. They really need this win to have any hopes of being competitive in a very tough district.

Should be a good game. can Ballard's front stand up to Marshall? The Bombers can throw the football, and have a couple of quick wideouts who have great hands. Marshall couldn't stop them last year.

If Ballard memorial has to travel to Marshall two years in a row, then Marshall needs to pay them for playing.

They are getting paid to come to Marshall for two years. It didn't work out like it was suppose to last year.

Wow, the Marshal's must have impressed you 55. I know they battled the Cards in that 1Q and I agree with you that they have improved immensely. I'm not sure +39 points from last meeting with the Bombers though. If they can shut down the BM passing game, get some INT's, and secure the ball that would be the only chance, IMO. I still think this will be a close one.

They did impress me. They are sound and big. I think they are going to win their district this year. I don't think Graves' offensive front can hold up against them.

A better poll might be will a Freshman QB be savvy enough to survive a rather large-bodied defensive assault?

You realize Owensboro and Christian County are in 5A D1, as well. :dontthink

Marinelli is a sophomore, noted as a freshman when discussing last year's game. Sorry for the confusion.

No, I didn't realize those two were in the district with Graves and Marshall. I will say Marshall will be third then. I think Owensboro will beat Christian Co for that district title.

More experienced. Always a plus.
