Raceland at Ashland Blazer 8/26

I don't think it matters where you play at in Kentucky. the officiating is just not very good anywhere you play in this area.
#32
Rams defense is too good to get beat. West carter has the fastest guys in the region and they still couldn't rush more then 100 yards. Rams win this one 28-7
#33
I know this will be a tough game. I'm just hoping that everyone will play injury free. I think this will be a lot closer than people expect. I'm picking the Tomcats.

Tomcats 28
Rams 27

Poor tackling like we had in a few stretches can get you beat. Hopefully that's cleaned up by Friday.

Raceland hasn't beaten Ashland since 2008 so I think Ashland always has a pretty good shot in this one. This has always been a tough game for Raceland even in years that Ashland is down.

Ashland always has a shot. They clean up the turnovers and flags, they win. They don't they lose. Cats have no OL or DL going both ways. Should be a good one.

Hate to disappoint but Racelnad don't have any OL or DL going both ways either

History since then
2009 Lost 31-0 Raceland finishes 8-5
2010 Lost 44-7 Raceland finishes 7-5
2011 Lost 58-12 Raceland finishes 6-6
2012 Lost 42-19 Raceland finishes 9-3 but 10-2 with Fairview Forfeit
2013 Lost 35-34 Raceland finishes 11-3
2014 Lost 41-35 Raceland finishes 11-3
2015 Lost 41-21 Raceland finishes 7-5

The gap has closed. The last three years is close and I expect this one in Racelands favor. I think the most points on the board by one team will be 28. I think Rams win 28-13.

Has Ashland settled on a starting quarterback or will Ratliff and Adkins split the snaps?

This kind of proves my point that the years that Raceland competes/beats Ashland, we usually have a strong season. The big difference this year is depth. We have far more than we usually do. That, imo, will be the difference maker. Usually our line starts to get gassed and after 3 quarters, Ashland starts breaking us down. I dont think that will be the case this year. This game may actually be won/loss more by the skill guys than in the usual trenches. Dont get me wrong, it all starts up front. But if our recievers/RBs dont drop 3 TD passes and two bombs that would have set up TDs, we would have hung 70 on Bath Co. Now, with that said, Ashland is a far cry from Bath Co., so it's going to take a team effort. But, the recievers have to step up.

I think they'll split time. Judging from what I've been told Ratliff need to make sure he takes care of the ball more. Heard he had 4 turnovers in their last scrimmage.

These scores dosent show that the gap has closed. It shows Racelands defense gave up a lot of points in every year. And it shows that the so called gap closing came during Messers two years when he almost was the whole show. Last year was back to a three td drubbing.

Actually Ashland was up 14-7 at halftime last year. Ashland had much more speed and depth than last year's team but that should be neutralized a little bit this year based off what Ashland lost. Since Ashland began their streak over Raceland they have won by an an average score of 42-18. Based off of that and playing at home I would say Ashland has to be a slight favorite despite what they have lost.

Although this year should be much more evenly matched than most years Ashland always has athletes and shouldn't be taken lightly. I believe that Raceland has a very good chance to win but it will not come easy. Raceland has to clean up some of the mistakes from last week and finish drives in order to win this game. I look for it to be closer than a lot of people think and it will come down to who can finish in the 4th quarter.

Close game, can already smell the cooking. Not sure how well Ashland can defend the pass (if Raceland catches the ball this time). I believe John Cherry can be the difference maker in this aside from the battle up front. His size, speed and athleticism will give a weak Ashland secondary fits.

The one thing that gets Raceland every year will get them this year.Speacil teams. We don't do them very well.70 kids on a team and we can't fix this???This is a problem every year. Not just kicking the ball either. I've seen years that we couldn't even snap the ball. This has to get better.Mike needs to take it upon himself to change this about his program.

You cry about everything .. Nathaniels been the long snapper since he was a freshman and he's now a senior don't remember to many bad snaps , wait in Ironton when he was a sophomore snapped a ball over Connors head , before Nathaniel was Ashland Joseph for 4 years again don't remember bad snaps .. You might be the most pessimistic Rams fan I've ever seen . I know I know you feel like the Rams let you down over the years but here's a crazy idea why don't you leave that in the past and enjoy what's going on now

I can't speak for Raceland's issues with Special Teams however I can say that from experience, I have called offense, defense, coached every position on the field and Special Teams was by far the most difficult to become effective at. There are so many things that go into a kickoff. Hopefully Raceland can get this lined out.

I agree with kicking , Raceland seems to always have a decent punter but kicking off and extra points have been a issue . The kicker now seems to be able to handle extra points and jarred manis did a good job kicking off last week so hopefully that continues

Can probably count on 1 hand how many bad snaps Raceland has had on one hand. 2 of those was last week on a field goal and an extra point. Over all I would say that's not too shabby. Rams win this one.

A bad snap doesn't always mean it bounces back to the punter or it goes over his head. Its got to have some sip on it so the punter has time to get it off.If more teams came at us and tried to block a punt we would be in trouble.

Nutt...everybody has a part to play.Let me play mine and you continue being a cheerleader.

Zip.

I haven't missed a Ram's game in 6 years and I can't remember 1 blocked punt. Not saying it hasn't happened, but if so, it has been very very few. Run backs on punts and kickoffs have been the only issues I have seen with the special teams other than not having a field goal kicker with distance. Luke Lemaster does an immaculate job kicking extra points and Jared Manis done a very good job with kicking off last week. Also thought Will Hale did a fine job with punting. Nathaniel did have a couple bad snaps last week, but he has been an excellent long snapper in the past and there's no reason to expect that to not continue. They'll all be fine.

I don't think he mentioned anything about the snaps... He could be talking about kick coverage or bad kicks or bad punts or not having the right personel on the field.. You guys are on the same team so no point in getting into over something that little...

Maybe Raceland needs to play there best Athletes on special team.......Just sayin Confusedmoke:

I was speaking more historically I guess..... Not so much about this years team cause I haven't seen them play yet.But yes....we have been pretty bad in this area over the years.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is friends with a person close to the Rams. He said they have a special teams coach this year.
