If Paintsville is #4 then the entire Class A must be very weak.

I see Raceland in BG this year vs Russellville.
Paris has a great coach but they take a MAJOR step back.
Fairview will struggle early given they lost so much (Roy, Washington, good linemen) but will be decent late.
Nicholas Co will win their district but the playoffs will end in round 2.

Sounds like someone is jealous. All Top 10 Class A schools could beat Pburg. I've noticed since Chirico came on board ole John wants nothing to do with playing Paintsville. Just go ahead and move your kids to Paintsville and be done with it. That's if you want you kids to play for a WINNER!!!

Pre season polls mean nothing just someone's opinion . I think it's interesting reading them and seeing people's thoughts but at the end of the day they don't mean squat

But does Raceland, for example, deserve to be higher in your opinion, or look about right for the preseason?
Everyone needs to remember preseason rankings are nothing more than just a guesstimate of where teams will stand on opening day. I see 1A and likely 2A (below Mayfield and DeSales) being VERY fluid through the season. Possibly 4A too.

I think Raceland should anywhere from 4-6. Depending on how you are rating them . If they are using last year as an example it would be 6 , if you are looking at what they lost and what this group of seniors have accomplished over the years they would be closer to 3 or 4 . Again this is just my opinion but take their schedule even though it's the very same as last years it won't be as hard bc most team they play have lost a lot . It's very possible Raceland will be 10-0 heading into the playoffs. So to answer your question I would have them 3 or 4 but can see why they would be sitting at 6

This looks pretty close to me

Seems like there is a rift between people resting on last years laurels vs what people return. You have to factor both in. Raceland underperformed last year, from the coaching on down. It will be better this year. Rams and Hazard were both bitten by the injury bug, so its kind of hard to say how good they bith were/will be this year. All that matters to me is Rville, Pikeville, and Beechwood are the top 3 until proven otherwise. Paintsville, Hazard, and Raceland could get pulled out of a hat and wouldnt be wrong or right. Same can be said for Holy Cross, Nicholas, Fairview, Williamsburg and two or three others at 7-10. This is probably the most "wtf is goina happen" year that 1A has seen in the new alignment. Goina be a fun year. Very likely there could be 3 unbeaten teams in the semis. I say 3 bc the best team any one in Single A will play will be Belfry. So i dont see the panthers remaining unbeaten come playoff time. They share a common opponent in Paintsville and Lucasville Valley, with Raceland. Raceland and Pikeville have the toughest schedules in the East of 1A. One more weeks and it all begins to shake itself out!

The change from 4 classes to 6 has really watered down the competition. How many of those 10 teams can actually compete for a state championship, 4 maybe 5?

Mac and team aren't afraid to play to get better.

3 of my teams didn't make it in the top 10 Pineville,Bishop Bosart,KCD. And I forgot about Frankfort and Paris. Want everybody to know I did give Pikeville my #1 Vote for a few weeks nicker:

That team from out of state that Paintsville is playing has 2 valleys and the team Pikeville is playing only has 1. So I'm giving the early SOS edge to Paintsville until I get my scouting reports from Floppy Melons.:ChairHit:

West Carter is a big school and on the rise. Good measuring stick for Raceland right off the bat...

1 Pikeville vs Prestonsburg...Pikeville by eleventy billion
2 Beechwood vs Lloyd...Beechies in a route
3 Russellville vs Trigg County....Rville runs for days and days
4 Paintsville vs Sheldon Clark....this one will get out of hand quickly
5 Hazard @ Pineville...could be a fair match up, until Hazard wins by 21+
6 Raceland @ West Carter...Raceland learned their lesson last year in many ways of schooling. Rams by atleast 4 TDs
7 Bethlehem vs #9 Nicholas County...toss up
8 Paris vs Frankfort...Paris by 14+
9 Nicholas Co @ #7 Bethlehem....see Bethlehem/Nicholas
10 Fairview @ Bath County....probably the best week 0 game
See a common thread here? All the "real contenders", atleast for a substate appearance, should win comfortably. Hazard and Raceland both have bad tastes in their mouths from last year, but started showing growth towards the end of last season. Tbh, I wouldnt want to be the teams playing them early. Pikeville will carry over from last year as well and even without Pugh, may end uo being more versatile and intern making them better. Which scares the hell out of me lol. Paintsville may take some lumps early on, but not from SC. Beechwood is in The same boat. Russellville always has crazy speed all over the field and I think this might be their year to get back to the carpet. Paris will rebuild but should look solid against a team in the same situation. Btw, what ever happened to the Dirty Thirty? What has happened in Frankfort?
In regaurds to the SOS, i wasnt casting the first stone u bunch of hammer heads in bloody water lol. The top 7 have ON PAPER very tough schedules. But realistically its in name only. Raceland's schedule isnt going to be as tough as it looks bc so many of the teams were having "one of those years" last year. U know the type, the kind we RamFans think we will/should have every year lol. Rams better show up every week or its goina be another tear jerker. Man i am glad we are talking football again. We all slacked off, except for Paintsville/JC fans lol in the offseason.

I think Paris loses by 14 or more in week 0. Bethlehem and Nicholas is my class A match up in week 0. I do like that Fairview and Bath match up. If they win they will travel to hazard riding high.
