From what I have gathered, John has been asked to step down as head coach. If it happens or not, I don't know, but in the end, I think he will have no other choice but to step down from his position. So my question is, if John steps down, who would be the front runners for the head coaching position?

Do you think they would hire his brother James?

That would be like jumping out of a bon fire and into the top of an active volcano. But knowing Floyd County that is what will happen.

Hager would be a great fit IMO. He's already on staff, knows the kids, seemed well loved by the folks @ Sheldon Clark, and has a proven track record as a Head Coach. Quick Trivia: Who was the last Coach on this side of the state to beat Haywood in the playoffs?

What do the people of Prestonsburg want? Didn't the Blackcats make it to the semi-finals a few years ago, and almost beat DeSales? Its just a rough stretch.

You ask a good question, I can only guess from some rumors I hear. I don't think its as much the Win/loss record as it some other things people don't like.. Now that said, Prestonsburg folk are a fickle bunch:argue: I grew up in east point and went to school there..It was a very "clique'ish" school even as high schools go back then.. Most students had nicer rides than the teachers and some parents had unbelievable influence...
Im not saying Prestonsburg dosnt have a right to be angry at some of the things Ive heard(I think they do if they are true) but Prestonsburg boosters and parents have had a long history of getting what they want and they just flat out don't like it when they don't :eyeroll:

I haven't heard or seen black at alum On here in forever. Did something happen to him?

He still supports his Blackcats but I think he's one of the good guys who's just so tired of the seemingly never ending drama out of Prestonsburg. I'm sure we will see him back on here soon.

If it hasn't went through then there is no use in doing now especially this late with only 2 months to go til kickoff...

man I hope that the season is at least decent this year. For the players anyway. I get so tired of hearing all the "stories" coming out of the blackcats program these days, the dissent and "political intrigue"..:HitWall:

That's what people get for listening to Paintsville people. If youre in Prestonsburg, just stop by they are out there every evening. Lift wights first, then they hit the field.
They prolly have about 28 solid attendees the whole summer. Thats pretty good in my opinion
Its not about quantity, its about quality and I believe the less players you have the more time you have to coach...

Who's the top contributors this year. With the loss of Frasure, Little, Ray and Stanley; that's 90% of the offence and defense. With the schedule I see 5 or 6 wins but not sure how exciting we will be to watch. Thoughts?

Looks like 33 on the roster without freshman listed. That is after taking off the Roberts kid that transferred to Pikeville.

I watched meet the Blackcats last night on the local TV station. I counted 2 freshmen, 7 sophomores, 10 juniors and 6 seniors. I think some from last years roster were carried over that are either not playing or wasn't there for meet the Blackcats. Anyone know who the key contributors are and the actual number of players out this year?
