What does the fan base around LC think we will look like next year. We must find some way to beat Belfry.

I know Timmy Dalton returns, but don't the rest of the key guys graduate?

LC should field a quality team...but I expect a significant step back from this season.
Lots of holes to fill.
I think LC will be closer to Pike Central than they will to Belfry. May be a good year to work in a lot of underclassmen and build toward 2017 and 2018

LC lost a lot of players to graduation but they also have a lot players coming back that had a bunch of playing time. Biggest question marks will be the shoes to fill @quarterback and in the secondary. A bunch of big lineman in this upcoming junior class so I can see the Dawgs getting back to the running game. Sizemore in the fullback spot will be a beast if they use him on offense.

So any news about how the team is looking? Would love a report on numbers, size and excitement level of the players for the new coach. How did spring practice look. I know we have lost well over 30 seniors the last two years, so I know this team is going to be pretty young and with the new coaching this young team could struggle at times, but that is to be expected. I for one am excited about the coaching change and I think after a season or two of taking our lumps we could start seeing some real quality football being played in Louisa again. If anyone close to the team knows something I would love to hear anything at this point!

Dang man it is late May already, football season will be back in action again before we know it. It is hard to believe that 2016 is already half over!

I know we got to have someone on here who knows something at this point!

Somebody's gotta stop the Red Army from Pond Creek. It's up to the Dawgs cause my Red Devils have no prayer. Louisa is a great community that is proud of its football team. Strong ties to the Louisa community hope the Dawgs have a good year!

I don't see LC being able to upset Belfry's apple cart this year. Lost too much on both sides of the ball.
I am hearing rumors about Dalton leaving.......what's the scoop??

2 things are going to have to change to slow down Belfry:
1. Haywood and at least some of the staff will have to resign/ step down/ retire/ cycle out
2. The bridge from Williamson will have to close or Mingo Central be more attractive. As long as kids can come from other parts of the area and pay tuition Belfry will be who they are. They may not be the end all be all they will be this coming year but they are still going to be better than 99% of their competition.
06-23-2016, 07:37 PM
Pay tuition? That is a good one.
06-23-2016, 07:43 PM
That's common practice, I don't know if it applies to Belfry, but it does to a lot of schools.

I will do an open records request and get back to you on this statement. I know for a fact that there are more than 2 kids on the pirate ship that live in West Virginia. Not hatin, just calling it like it is. No big deal, KHSAA allows it all over the state.

Honestly I don't think this team will be worried about Belfry or any other team for that matter. This is a very young team with a new coach and they need to start by building up the program from little leauge up. Every team goes through lean years. I remember in the 90's Lawrence County was the top dog in the Mountains and we had talent everywhere and we stomped on everyone and that includes Belfry and yes those were Haywood lead teams. Belfry is on a great run but all things must come to an end. They have had a lot of talent the last few years but things like other teams in the same county building a good program can change things in a hurry aka Pikeville and if Pike Central can ever get things going it will make a difference also and then you have Shelby Valley with some good success. I also don't think Mingo Central is doing so bad right now and I think they got a stadium and facilities that are new and pound for pound as good as Belfry's. Heck look at Highlands, they have more wins and Championship's then Belfry and tradition and pride out the yahoo yet look how far they fell so quickly. Just goes to show how quick things like a Coaching change can shake things up at a program no matter how strong you think it is. Now is not the time for the Bulldogs to worry about competing with any strong program, but Lawrence County will be back and competitive in no time at all.

I don't think this will be a down year for the Bulldogs. This is a young team but there are still a lot of good players and coaching staff is a little moved around but basically the same core of coaches. I don't have the huge expectations of taking Belfry down this year because Belfry is just loaded in the trenches and will be hard for anyone to deal with this year. I really think LC will finish 2nd in district and still have an above .500 record. I am very excited about this year and I think most all the teams in the area feel the same way. Lot of new coaches and with all these area kids getting scholarships to play ball at the next level I don't think there has been a bigger and better time for football in the mountains. LC may have some growing pains early in the season but I think they will make huge strides in building up for next year and if Pike Central gets their program back on track as well then that should be one of heck of a district.

A competitive district would be great for everyone.....but I can't honestly see that this year. Frankly, I'm not sure how competitive its gonna be for the next 3-4 years. Unless something drastically changes, IMO, Belfry's gonna keep a stranglehold on this district until at least 2019.
06-29-2016, 02:28 PM
I agree the district and more than likely the 3A title belongs to Belfry this year. They are loaded down with talent and probably won't lose a game this year unless they rest players during some non district games possibly. I think the district will get a lot tighter after this year though. I know Belfry will be very tough for years to come but I think LC will have some very good teams in the next few years as well. Would certainly be nice if Belfry comes down to Earth just a lil bit in the next few years anyways. It is rather amazing a small 3A school around these parts has had the run they have been on thus far.

Talked to people close to Timmy and I don't think he is going to anywhere. He will be the Bulldogs offense this season.
07-12-2016, 05:54 PM
How did the team look yesterday ?
07-16-2016, 09:05 PM
I haven't heard much this off season. Don't know if that is good or a bad thing yet lol. I know they had a 7 on 7 @Magoffin along with Paintsville and Sheldon Clark. Can't really see LC throwing the ball much this year other than to keep defenses honest.
07-17-2016, 04:54 AM
I heard Timmy got kicked off the team for trying to fight with a coach during spring practices
07-19-2016, 02:28 PM
I heard for he was kicked off for other reasons from a players parent. I won't say why out of respect for the young man. Regardless, I appreciate everything he did for the Bulldogs. It shows a lot of discipline from this coaching staff if he's gone. At some point you have to take control of your program and you can't fault the staff if this is true.
07-19-2016, 03:46 PM
I hope the young man and the staff can work it out.. If not he may transfer....
07-19-2016, 04:07 PM
I just heard from a source VERY close to the basketball program that he wasn't really planning on/wanting to play football anyhow - so maybe it's a combination of factors that led to this....
