Lawrence 7 Prestonsburg 6
#1
Sophomore Peyton Cyrus with a clutch walk-off base hit to give the Bulldogs an exciting win. Fun, entertaining game. A lot of things went on, most of it off the field (and not the LC side either).

I heard like 4 Prestonsburg fans I got ejected, and one even went so far as to rush the field going after an umpire?

What in the world happened P-Burg folks?

This all happened along the 1st base line, it was the 1st base umpire that tossed them 3 at one time, and then another 1 a couple of innings later. Dont really know what they were upset about with the 1st base umpire there was not any calls that went against pburg at 1st.
I did not see anyone come on to the field. Pburg coach was throwing a fit but that is normal for him. I don't think I have ever seen a game that he coached in that he was not going on about something. I guess you could say he is really passionate about high school baseball!!

The red BOLD entices the blue BOLD. Everything is a domino effect starting with Webb and Butcher. They allow their employees to act like fools. Whether the coaches realize it or not, both, adults and kids see them as role models and do as they do. The entire community is being characterized by their leaders and is an embarrassment for all. :moon::moon:

It appeared to me that balls and strikes were what was being argued a lot. So I am with you, not sure why the 1st base umpire was catching heat. Both sides were getting bad balls/strikes, but only one side was making it a BIG issue on every pitch. Might have also been first time I seen an umpire warn a coach not once, not twice, but three times. Usually after one warning, the next time you are restricted to the dugout or just thrown out. Guess not. Maybe that's why it got out of hand?

Still, it was a very entertaining game. Take those adults who wanted to steal the excitement of the game away from the players away, it was a very nice game. Had a lot of back-and-forth and moments of stress, pressure, and clutch play on both sides.

Prestonsburg has some NICE players and from talking to a few people after the game, they only had a couple of seniors. They may make some noise next year. People seem to think that LC will drop way down next year. Well, hopefully some saw that may not be the case. The bottom of the 7th featured a sophomore reaching to lead off, a freshman delivering a pinch hit, and another sophomore delivering the walk off hit. Not to mention that an 8th grader on the mound throwing 2 innings and not giving up a run, not giving up a hit, and striking out a few to get the win.....throwing with nice velocity and a sweet looking breaking ball.

Can't wait for tonight's game against Pikeville. Should be a doozy.

I agree I said in a an earlier post that I see this group of seniors as a very accomplished group, 3 district titles, around 90 to 100 wins, a regional title, and a district and regional runner up. But I really believe the lc baseball tradition will be left in good hands, with the fairchild kids, cyrus, parks they may struggle some in the 1st part of the year but they will end up right back here next year.

Great game to watch. Heard the men on the radio say that this was by far the best game of the tournament and I agree! The reasoning behind the parents getting thrown out was a LC player hit a double and missed the bag on first (so they said) it seemed like everyone saw it except Tincher (First Base Ump) the pitch calling was not the problem as to why they got tossed. We will miss our seniors. They both have been crucial for our success over the years. We return 7 starters only losing our First baseman and then in a lot of opinions the best catcher in the region in Martin. He has been a pleasure to watch. Good luck to LC in the tournament! Already excited to see Prestonsburg take the field next year. Go Cats!
