Mayfield needs a new game for week 1 of 2017 season.

My boys don't play against Williamsburg

You're the expert. Why haven't you found a game for them already? I think South Warren would be a good matchup.

I'm doing my part right here Doug. I do agree though. So Warren would be a good one. I don't know what Warren Central will be like at that time but they usually are good too. I would really like to see something that would be a big draw from all across the state though. Kind of like Belfry, Central, Highlands, Bowling Green, Trinity or so.

any of those would be good, but I don't see a reason for Mayfield to play against the powerhouse 5A-6A teams. would be a big draw for sure though....send your coach over this way. You've had him too long.

We like him right where he is. There is a very good chance that the coaching staff could be even better this fall. Just waiting to see how it unravels.
#36
I have no idea who you're talking about, but, I sure wish Hatchel would come back as the OC.. Mayfield's offense was a machine when he was calling the shots..
#37
I wonder if we could talk previous Alum Steve Lovelace and Christian Co into a 2 year home and home.. Not only would it be good games, but, I really like the Stadium of Champions complex..
#38
Word is that Hatchell now wants to come home after having a baby. He has supposedly applied for asst principle job. Also with Edwards becoming principle at MHS it will allow us to hire an actual football coach at MMS. He is a basketball coach. He never played a down of football.

I agree that Christian Co or Hoptown could be a good fit. But, could you imagine the gate at a game between us and either Belfry or Highlands. It would bring people from all over the state. I'm sure that Belfry, like us, could use the money to help buy future rings.

John Hardin.

You would run into the same thing with John Hardin, distance.. It's about 4 hrs to E'Town.. Christian Co or Hop"Town would give you a very similar type program, but, only 1 1/2 hours away.. We were talking about possible out of state matchups vs Tn or Mo teams, but, there's some good teams in the Southern Ill area, as well and still only 1 to 2 hours away. Getting them to play a Mayfield type team could be a problem, though, plus, those teams have large districts/conferences and a lot of old rivalries, so, even if one were willing, finding the right common week and room in the schedule, could be a challenge..

E-Town ain't as far as Corbin though Smile

Etown is only about a 3-3.5 hr drive. I really like those kind of journeys. I don't know why everyone worries about that so much.

I like following my team to a road game and enjoying this beautiful state.

You kind of hit on one point that I think some of these older fans forget. They whine and cry about such road trips. They don't like the drive. They don't like the area. They miss the point. This isn't about them, it's about the kids. I promise you, they want to make such trips. It makes them feel like they are special. I say, do it. If we have a few less people in the stands, it's okay. If you don't want to go, it is on the radio and we will be selling video of it later. That's just my thoughts on it anyway.

I love road trips. I wish I could make the trip to the Corbin game. I'd love it if they played a game at all the way over in belfry that is if it was on a Saturday so I could go.
#47
Just saw where the tornado hit near the school in Mayfield yesterday. Everyone ok?!?!
#48
Yes everyone is okay. Thanks for asking. It was the first time a Tornado scored a touchdown here in years.

Belfry game Will never happened i I talked to joe about 3 years ago offered 5000 to come play Johnson central week 1 or 3
He said the parents would hang him if he traveled that far
But pikeville and belfry do have two of the best high school football stadium good luck in finding a game

I'm a parent that would love it.

it is great for the kids. I can't always go on a trip, but when I can , I enjoy it. I seriously love the whole state of Kentucky and my fellow Kentuckians even though I like to get some riled up Smile

You apparently enjoy messing with some, much more than others.

I said last year.call Jonesboro high school here in Jonesboro Arkansas they are 6a and have made the semi finals the last 4 years..,would like to see Belfry come to Mayfield as well..
#54
I would like that. My dad lives in Arkansas. He lives in Russellville which isn't too far off.
#55
Jonesboro would be a tough game for the Cards.. Mayfield would compete with them for a half, maybe 3 quarters, then Jonesboro's depth would likely take over..
#56
Highlands couldn't compete with the 2A powerhouse. SK would be a good game.
#57
Still like to see them and hazard @ Lindsey Wilson.
#58
We heard that about the numbers thing from DeSales. How did that work out? They dressed 99 players. We actually only have maybe 2 starters that go two ways. I think our numbers could match up just fine.
#59
As it is now, the Corbin game at Lindsey is to far. I think most fans would be happier with something a little closer be it that means most likely out of state. The Jonesboro, Arkansas team sounds like it would be do able. We use to play a lot of MO teams back 15 years ago. Cape Central, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff. All close enough. In KY I would like to see the renewal of Owensboro, Hoptown, Christian or even Henderson, Warren Central or BG. We also had some Evansville opponents awhile back and that too would work distance wise. We are better off looking to the Nashville, Memphis or Northern Mississippi area than way up state. McCracken Co just played Southaven, MS. Heck maybe Oxford, MS. High. Both those are a decent distance and play good football. Oxford is closer than Lindsey Wilson.

Wynne, Arkansas wouldn't be a terrible game for Mayfield. Google maps says 3:03 to play a program that has great tradition and is a power in Arkansas 5A. Numbers would probably put them in 3A or 4A in Kentucky.
