I agree! A coach can place the kids and can call the plays, but the players have to carry it out! It's takes everyone working together to make a team! There are lots of good names in the pot, so hopefully the right one will prevail!

Valley has no teaching positions available. Word around Virgie is that Anthony Hampton will be named new coach right before spring break.
03-25-2016, 07:59 PM
Forgot to add, Hampton has been around a long time and would do a good job building a program. Football coaches at Valley have been a revolving door since the beginning of Valley. Hampton would provide some stability and longetivity to the program.

That happened once and didn't turn out so well....I don't see it happening again, but you never know!

Don't count on it! With the Administration that is there, favors, job trades and manipulating people at the BOE who knows who it may be. Everything can be blamed on the SBC or the BOE.

Nate McPeek was the outside candidate.

If I had to guess, I'd say this job will stay local or in house.....but you never know.

I will reword...He IS on for the outside candidates. They like him, but WILL they hire him, will the BOARD hire him or have a job for him?

Didn't he get in some trouble? I don't see him coming to SV and staying put.....they'll probably be looking for another coach again in a few years if he comes.
04-06-2016, 08:01 PM
:dontthink NO McPeek DID NOT get in trouble ! you must be a crap stirrer!! he is at a top 5 school in GA ! he is an excellent coach but even better character!! he would be great for your community! :welcome:

Don't think it's fair to say he is a crap stirrer for bringing up the fact that he was the head coach at a school that forfeited 14+ wins due to a KHSAA investigation. Happened on his watch. You can't debate, deny, or question that.

Not stirring anything. He may be a great coach but I'm just referring to articles and information that's been around for some time. He may have been innocent but if you're a head coach and something happens on your watch, you're held responsible. I'm just saying Valley needs someone local who's committed to the school and will stay for the long haul! He may be good for the program, but he wouldn't stick around. He's most likely trying to get back in KY.
04-07-2016, 05:49 PM
Yes i can debate it! its unfair to accuse or make a statement you no nothing about. Fairview enrolled a kid wrong from the alternative school, thats it, bottom line. KHSAA has zero findings on Nate McPeek it was an office mistake. That was the ONLY violation that was committed. so before you open your big moth you need to know what your talking about.:moon:

You seem to really be a big fan of Nate......seems like your comments on several forums mention him. I'm sure hes a great guy, but I don't see Valley going that route. They most likely want someone local and someone who will stick with them, rather than someone who will come in for a few years then move on.

Finding people who are able to stay more than a handful of years is a nice dream these days, but that's about it. Be it local or someone with no ties to a school, 5-10 years (handfulls on the later) is about all you can expect.
On the subject of Nate....I find it amusing that it can be bash city all day long against him, and all is fine. But, let people try to defend/support him and it all of the sudden becomes an issue.
...haven't really figured that out yet.
Did Highlands not play an ineligible player and forfeit their whole season (State Championship season at that) & nobody seems to remember (nor care) about that.
Should I even get on the topic of college coaches who have been tied to rule breaking, yet given 2nd chances? Is there even enough time to discuss all of those over the years? I'm not excusing what happened, but dang....it was an ineligible player....move the hell on.

No bashing here, just stating what's known......like I said, he may be great but Vallley hasn't had a coach stay more than a couple of years, so 5-10 would be great and they have in house and local applicants who know the program well!

Fair points made here and you are absolutely right. Just no need to be hostile toward another poster who asked a question when he was indeed the head coach when these things transpired.
04-07-2016, 11:11 PM
I agree! It is what it is! My whole point here is that I don't see him being picked for this position because there's too many in house/local candidates that's bring a lot to the table. Regardless of what he did or didn't do! That's all I was trying to say!!
04-08-2016, 12:51 PM
I heard Jeff Norman is on his way back to the Valley!!!!

You guys need to quit getting your feelings hurt. :Sad04: I just dont like people who get on here and quote rumors!
you said what is known? that means rumors! I state facts! he has no violations or has zero record of wrong doing with the KHSAA! Period!
As far as the forfeits and him being the HC thats correct but look at Belfry HS have they had to forfeit games? and many more that have!
That being said its evident that you have your own guy that you want and that is your prerogative but again dont ASSUME that if he gets the job he would leave in couple years. That again is nothing but speculation!
just saying he is a great coach and person and he would build a great program there. Its not his first rodeo, and you guys have not exactly been world beaters, if I was you i would welcome a big time coach coming to my school he can help develop younger coaches also and you may get your hometown guy one day. Hiring practices havent been the best lately, hiring to many inexperienced coaches at the HS level and coaches who arent trained properly. The kids that work their butts off get cheated !

Big time coach huh......everyone has their own opinions. He has applied for various jobs in KY this season and they aren't working out for some reason. Word around here is its a done deal for a local/insider who's already an employee. Better stay put in Georgia coach77. hh:

Eric Ratliff was local wasn't he?? & he only stayed 2 years......my opinion McPeek would be a very good hire. But as I said just my opinion!!!

He was local as in from the county, not a local to the Valley area.

Well its obvious you have some kind of grudge against McPeek! probably a 62-0 grudge! he was offered the Bell job and turned it down, he wants the right fit.
I hope he does stay in GA and stay away from moron's like you that give their armchair opinions and rumors. I will let it go at that.
When you guys win a couple of playoff games let me knownicker:

Its obvious that you have some serious love for him! This is a blog where people post opinions. Name calling isn't very professional, especially coming from someone in the educational field who wants a head coaching position. As far as the playoffs, I am confident that some of the OTHER applicants can build a successful program and get to the playoffs eventually. :thanks:

Shelby Valley is above the Clown & Pony show. They're going a different direction. Get over it & move on. Just to much baggage to even consider IMO.

McPeek will be named SV coach probably during week of spring break. Napier had to go through Belfry to get to Alabama.
