I hope a huge group of kids come to this Combine, Mini-Camp. It is a great opportunity for the kids in this area to have easy access to an event of this magnitude. Maybe someone will get invited to play in the All Star Game.

Probably more than it's worth. But, if someone wanted to shell out some money in order for their baby to get a star ranking, it's a great offer.
But, not all star rankings are created equal. I wouldn't pay for it, but that's just me.

It's 150 for 6 hours of instruction. They all-star game is a money maker, they charge the athletes 250 if they stay in their hotel and pay their hotel price, 400 if they stay at a different hotel. Sounds like a get in get your money and get out of town deal.

It sounds like that kind of deal, because it is that kind of deal.
I went through and looked at some of their class of 2016 rankings, and their 4-star athletes aren't going anywhere to play college ball. I don't mean anywhere to mean "no where good" or "non-SEC." I mean anywhere to mean that I found zero evidence of any of their top 10 athletes signing to play at any college.
For a comparison: Rivals does the star rankings. A 4-star athlete from there goes to Alabama. Or South California. They go to Ohio State.
If you're a 4-star athlete by any "recruiting" service, and you don't have a single FBS or FCS school interested in you, you got swindled. Bad.

These camps like NUC, Big Man Camps, are the biggest scams in the business. These camps are so little Johnny can be called an All American yet be a mediocre player at the high school level, then the parents wonder why they didn't go D1, because he is a Jr. All American with "insert $camp here"

Everyone has an opinion and we all know the saying that goes with that. Kids must have exposure. Took 3 kids to one of these a few years back and 2 got invited to elite 100 in Atlanta. With in a week, letters and calls from several schools non of them had had any previous contact with. So mine will go to Camps and Combines. To each his own.

Is this camp for Middle School kids also?

Did their coach put their names into the massive recruiting database that every college coach uses? Yeah, probably. So, they were on the radar. Schools knew about them. They weren't unknown, I promise.
Camps are great, when they're at a college or something WAY more reputable than this joke of one. The fact that you can go to a major college program for a camp for less money than this is, should tell you something. At least, I hope it tells you something.
Look at some of the kids on their Class of 20XX list, look at their "elite" level guys and tell me if those are guys that any college is going to fight over? Not many schools are recruiting slow, undersized guys regardless of what camps they have or haven't gone to.
As the kids these days are fond of saying: Ball don't lie.
But, to each his own, right? It's not my money you're spending.

I believe it's a way for kids to get some camp exposure, that may never get to travel to some of the bigger camps or college camps. At least they may find out how they stack up against other competition or what they need to work on to get invited to other camps. At the very least its close by for most that may attend.

The only camps one is "invited to" is The Opening, or some Rivals backed camp, unless you include the UA All American or Army All American. You could pay $30 and be seen by 20+ College coaches at The U of Cincy camp or go to a blue gray combine and be suckered out of money while relying on them to send your info to a local college a high school coach should already be in contact with.

Let's face it not every kid that goes to a camp is getting a D-1 ride. Only the elite athlete most likely is getting that. A free ed at a smaller college is still better than paying for it. We have been to several camps Vandy, WKU, UK, UT, Campbellsville, Rivals and FBU in Nashville,TN. and Top Gun in Columbus, OH.. Exposure to the camp environment is valuable to me if the athlete learns what is expected of them. Every camp stressed the academic side first and foremost. Hearing from former college coaches and players what prepared them for their college days may or may not motivate these kids then maybe it was worth it. Who know?

If a kid can see other players preforming at a high level and can see where He needs to improve it is worth it.
05-03-2016, 04:29 PM
Have heard there is possibly over 130 kids signed up so far.
