Bart Williams Out
#1
The alumni base has consistently addressed the status of the boys basketball program. It is now apparent a change is on the horizon. Does the superintendent and board chair have the balls to make the right decision?
#2
I figured the decision was left up to Booer, heard last year he had a plan.
#3
Why would Pikeville make a change in the middle of the season?
#4
Big surprise here! I'm sure the next head coach will of course be a Shelby Valley alumni!

To keep the next three players from leaving is what I heard. But who knows id they will takenit to those extremes.

If Elisha fors get the Job and he will, Valley and ER are done. He will stack a team with some from JBS, some from Valley, and some from ER and take Pikevilles already good young ones like Batille and Rhodes and dominate the district for the next decade.
#7
So, it seems that Elisha can not win with the same players as Mr. Williams.... He has to ge players from JBS, SHELBY VALLEY, AND EAST RIDGE..... I have only seen them play one time.... Several people that know the game agreed with what I saw, maybe one young man may develope into a basketball player, and then one that may be considered getting close to a good high school player....

Is Bart actually out or is it just speculation?
#9
Just speculation IMO. But the wheels are falling off the bus at Pikeville. Three years in a row without making it out of district could send Williams packing.

You need to watch more than one game...

Leave Bart alone!

Correct me if I am wrong - but they have won ONE region in the last 41 years. It is not Bart.

They won the region in 1999 because the best player from Betsy Layne just happened to move to PHS to play football (Gibson) and they had two 19 year old guards (Mims & Anderson) who could also play. Blended with Branham, Akers and a couple more and a weak region (they beat Pike Central in regional finals and PCC record was 17-15) and the timing was perfect.

Gibson wasn't recruited and Anderson was there for a short time because his mother worked at the hospital.

That is why I referred to the others and 2 of those are coaches

Annual "lets get rid of Bart Williams" thread pops up. Pikeville is having a good stretch in history, enjoy it.

You are having a good stretch with your crack pipe, enjoy it.

I think Bart is a good coach, but has allowed himself to be surrounded by people who think they know more basketball than he does. We need to remember all that glitters is not gold.

I feel this thread should be closed. This site should be for upcoming games or to inform everyone of what happened at a previous game. We are talking about high school basketball, not pro or major D1. Hope everyone can keep in mind he has a family to support and a son is apart of the program.
