Good win for the players gibe them the credit, but that program has had two coaches since Booher and has gone in the same direction since his departure.

Lamont Wright #10 has been there for the past 3 years. He played some last year but is now starting this year as a junior. Jacob Beverly #11 is also a junior that has played for the past 3 years. He is finally seeing some playing time. #1 is Donovan Layne, was Shelby Valley's Quarterback for the past 4 years and finally decided to come out and play his senior year. Tanner Bentley #4 is a sophomore that is seeing some playing time along with freshmen such as Kobe Brown #3 and Peyton Blackburn (8th grader) #50. Most players have been there this whole time and just now getting their chance. Others, like Layne, are first year players, which is why you may be unfamiliar.

Thanks Duck, very informative. As for Cals Pal what direction are you saying they are going? The state title team was a special group that Booer inherited and guided to the title.

He knows all the players, football and basketball. Just wants to give the coach the credit. Go read his football and other posts. Jim Hicks is the only really good coach in any sport Valley ever had according to MJoiler.

?? The state title team was in his 6th year there. How did he inherit that? Did they hold back 5 years? Yes he had a good team when he took over. He took a regional team and turned them into a state team in 5 years. After he left they went back to a regional team, Now they are a district team, in a really really down region and district. This group here could have been good, but as you clearly indicate, you have never seen them played together before, because of transfers. Booher saw the value in playing the same guys from the same school for a couple years together.

Would make no sense to me to see anything happen to either one, just my personal opinion.

I must have been mistaken in thinking that the team that won the state title played together for 6 years (AAU play) included and was put together by one of the parents. I am not saying Booer is a bad coach, I am saying he was very fortunate in having the players he had and the draw they got in 2010.

Hey Cals Pal I never give a coach much credit, I,d rather give that to the players. Thanks for reading my past posts.
