HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:Pride comes just before the fall....I hope so too. Main concern is that the team focuses on themselves and just gets into he right frame of mind mentally for the game. It is all going to come down to execution both ways. Do I believe we have the personnel? YES. Scheme? YES. Now it's about understanding the deal is not finished and no matter what we say on here or in the stands, Beechwood is not going to roll over because they feel the same way. I've got faith in Coach Mac and staff to get the boys ready, we appear to be healthy as horses (knock on wood), and now it's just time to realize what's in front of them and go TAKE it because it will not be given. Expecting one hell of a game.

Will put my thoughts on the game up later. But Russellville ran for 299 yards on Beechwood and can't pass. Bodes very well for Pikeville who can do both.
Beechwood can't pass? Hmm they are the best passing team in Class A so i don't know who you are talking about.

Last year's Williamsburg team would have loved to have faced this Beechwood team in the finals. Get it done Panthers!
Actually Pikeville reminds me of the early 90 teams who didn't play anyone but when they did they got their @ass kicked by the good teams!!!

Pikeville is the #1 team in 1A in the east. I still believe the west is weak just like I did last year and now since 2A mayfield is gone the east will rise again. Go Pikeville. :Cheerlead
Pikeville 42

Pikeville might win but they won't beat Beechwood that bad. Beechwood is to good of a team with or without Stringer.

I respect Pikeville but you guys crack me up. The way you guys talk it seems like Beechwood hasn't beaten you in 27 years haha haha but we know that isn't the truth!

How about this stat:
If my math is correct after this game, the WINNER of the PIKEVILLE/BEECHWOOD game will have won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 12 out of 14 TIMES!
The only two winners in this series not to win state would be the 1972 Pikeville Panthers and the 1995 Beechwood Tigers.

Reading comprehension. He was warning JP about being too prideful about our Panthers, not Beechwood. Last free tip. I charge a beer for each one after two.

I guess you could take it both ways. I thought he meant Beechwood's pride. I don't think one person on the Pikeville side is overconfident. I'm certainly not, although I really like this Pikeville team. Going to be a battle! Good luck Panthers!:Cheerlead

I do believe this battle will be one for the ages. GO PANTHERS !! :devilflam Btw, any one know if Pikeville is the home team, or away?

If Stringer is out, it will be tough for Beechwood. However, don't go to thinking that it isn't possible. Beechwood will still be a handful. I really don't care other than for one reason. That is, I don't want to see Beechwood get to 12 state titles before Mayfield.

Pikeville 28-27. Good Luck to the Panthers, Pirates, and Golden Eagles in BG.

Good luck to the Panthers! Show them how we do it over here in the mountains

They must not teach reading comprehensive skills in Cincinnati schools. You have to be an example of that.

Pikeville by 7. Pugh with a huge game.

I like the way Pikeville is playing. The players and coaches have to be loose. Don't get caught up in over thinking everything. Pikeville is listed as the under dog and needs to play that way. Do what you do best and play as hard as you can. That's all you can ask for.

Guy on that other site saying "smh if Beechwood plays like its state championship teams Pikeville doesn't have a chance." Of course it's not necessarily true but he fails to realize that by that same logic if Pikeville plays like their state championship teams Beechwood will get creamed:
1987 Pikeville 52, Beechwood 27
1988 Pikeville 34, Beechwood 7
1989 Pikeville 49, Beechwood 20
Some things never change. You can always count on Beechwood to be cocky. Sometimes they can back it up, sometimes they can't (see above :biggrin
.
Also a shoutout to our buddy(s) EKU and/or ATL on the other site. He/They can't comment on the Beechwood/Pikeville game without interjecting a Belfry plug.:devilflam

I hope this the first of several state championships for this years mountain teams. Pikeville wins 35-28.

You can really tell by this one particular thread just how east oriented this site is. There are several other social media sites out there. In each of the others, Beechwood is running away with the voting. Here it is lopsided in Puikeville's favor.

^That's because the people on this site have seen Pikeville play.
