How are the Bulldogs with the transition from the 16th region to the 15th region? They sure didn't leave the 16th region on a good note after that 20 point butt kicking that Rowan County gave to them. I'll always remember that game, the "Dawg Pound" can never be as good as the Rowan Rowdies!!!:wenumber1

They are avg. at home horrible on the road.......IF they make the region tourney(they will not) they are a blowout waiting to happen.
They have a good player in Thompson though and solid Asst. in Trimble

Well lets see avg. They have beat Paintsville #1 team District, They also have beat Belfry #1 team in the Region, They have beat Johnson Central #2 team in the district, they beat Shelby Valley, They beat Letcher County who beat Belfry twice. So yea they are avg.
And Thompson as a great supporting cast in Kyle Bradley who hit the shot to send the Raceland game into overtime, which we won, also who hit the shot that beat belfry, and avg about 12 points a game. Mitch Copley who is a good post player that takes alot off of Shawn, Chandler Thompson a solod guard who has hit some key shots this year and Tyler Brewer who is a good defender.

I have seen ever team in the 15th region with the exception of Phelps and Thompson is by far the best player the 15th has to offer. His numbers are unreal and no one come's close to having these statistics.

I agree we need to learn to put teams away on the road. we were up 10 at letcher and lose by 15, Thompson had his worst game of the year shotting the ball but still put up big numbers rebounding and dishing out the assist, finally we played great team ball the first half but could hit the broad side of the barn in the 2nd half.
Thompson is like you said, the reason he is the best player in the region is he just doesnt score 35 -45 points in a game he will get 20 rebounds 5 assist and around 3-5 steals along with 2-3 blocks agame. Lowe is on hell of a player as well but all he does is score he doesnt put up the total number as Thompson IMO.

So it sounds like the Bulldogs have went back to their old ways after losing 8 seniors.

What did you expect? You can't lose that much experience, talent and firepower and have a similar season the following year.
If you do, you're about as sharp as some of the other posters around here. If not, then you must simply be trying to get a dig on Lawrence County. That's cool, because there are other sports where their fans will surely get a chance to dig on the Vikings, if they don't dodge them.
I've watched literally thousands of players play and several hundred different teams from across the country and this is one of the most schizophrenic teams I've seen. They play very well and shoot very well at home despite literally very little home court advantage in terms of numbers of free throws or foul disparity. They usually play hard wherever they are, which makes them entertaining for their fans.
But, they are mostly inexperienced other than Thompson and I think it is reasonable to expect a team whose entire lineup, including reserves, has turned over from last season to have a bit of a split personality.
Obviously Next has some axe to grind with LC and perhaps the Rowan Rowdie does, too. But don't let your hard feelings get in the way of reality-based discussion.
IF Lawrence Co. makes the 15th Region Tournament, they are an even bet to win simply because the whole region has been a bit wacky and there is no real indicator of how any of the teams will play in a neutral building.
BTW Rowan Rowdie, I would think a fan of a 12-13 team wouldn't be anxious to talk much smack. I've seen both teams play this season, Rowan twice and Lawrence a number of times, and I would say it would be a complete toss-up (unless Next was officiating and the game was played in Farmer or Sharkey).

When have you seen the Vikings? If it was early in the year, they are not the same team now as they was then. They are probably the 6th or 7th best team in the region which is pretty impressive considering that the Vikings lost 9 seniors from last year.
But did Derek Endicott get a chance to play at the next level?

Yes he did but chose not to because of personal reasons, he had several offers which he turned down.
You talk about the vikings play at the start of the year, you can say the samething about Lawrence Co... Because they have really been playing great as of late. Yea they have had a few "L's" but thats the way the whole 15th region has been.
02-25-2006, 06:46 PM
Well I don't know much about the 15th region, but I'm sure a loss to Letcher County Central wasn't a good thing.
02-25-2006, 06:49 PM
Endicott wasn't that good for his size. He has a horrible shooting percentage and most of his shots was from 3 to 4 feet from the goal and he was 6'9 6'10 going against guys 6'3 6'4. He could get on the glass though, I think he would of got to a good college if he didn't have a field goal percentage in the 40's. Bryantt Furman owned him in the regional tournament and he is going to play at Morehead State next year.
02-25-2006, 07:07 PM
WOW playing at morehead, that just great. I mean it really is, but what world are you from, he did not own Endicott, Lawrence was in the game until the last min, when they started fouling to extend the game.
He must have been pretty damn good to get offers from several D-1 schools, it was his choice not to play. you talk about him going against smaller guys well that is basket ball it happens everyday

Lawrence in that game till the final minute? Bud you've been driking a lil to much of that moonshine...Rowan had a 10+ lead at the half. Lawrence couldn't take the presure of the atmoshpere and cracked. Rowan had that game won after the thrid quarter when they was up by 25. I find it hard to believe that he turned down several D-1 offers. They must have been schools smaller than Morehead.

Brad Lowe also has other players so he doesnt have to do it all like Shawn Thompson...I'm not trying to take anything away from Thompson but I think Brad Lowe is slightly better than Shawn but not by much...Maybe like 1.5% better just because PCC has won on the road...But both of them are the keys to each of their respective teams...without them neither of their team could win
02-25-2006, 07:39 PM
And your point is..... and we beat them as well.

7th best team in either the 16th or 15th is not real impressive.
I saw the Vikings twice at mid-season, and unless Furman has rejoined the team, they couldn't be immensely different. The Daniel kid is a REAL shooter, I gotta give you that.
Endicott had a couple of opportunities and for whatever reason chose not to continue.
As for his matchup with Furman in the 16th Region tournament, I will confirm that Furman won that matchup offensively and he was the MUCH more polished player offensively, but if I were recruiting a post player for even the low D I level, I would have chosen Endicott over Furman in a flash -- primarily because Endicott is quite a bit longer in terms of arm length as well as being a couple of inches taller and because Endicott ran the floor exceptionally well for a kid his size.
The Vikings had a strong season last year, and they capped it with a win over Lawrence County, but frankly that has NOTHING to do with '06 and you seem to want to dwell on it to rub it in on LC fans.
That puzzles me. If your team is all that now as opposed to in January, then talk about that instead of trying to find some salt to throw in Dawg fans' wounds.

That's pretty obvious, since Letcher Central is a pretty solid 15-9 team from the 14th Region. tickoutt

Yeah, they got blistered by L.C.C.!

From what I've seen this Lawrence team has played great at home and sub-par on the road. Big power wins vs. Paintsville,Johnson Central,Shelby Valley,Belfry and others. Would definitely get invited to the regional tourney if it was based on bids.

Nike Man,
You are correct. They are very much an enigma. They play great some nights (mostly at home) and then cannot succeed for tripping over their own feet on others (usually on the road). But teams like that are a bit scary come post-season time.
Really, I think most of the teams in the 15th are pretty dangerous going into this post-season. It is all about which team matches up better on a given night and you can almost throw their regular season results up in the wind and let it all fall wherever. Should make for a more interesting ride for all the 15th fans this week!
