Tilghman has to contain Berneil Cecil who is averaging about 15 yards a carry and Dalonza Cates. Tilghman has struggled against power running backs all year long. If Tilghman can't play any better than they did against Edmonson, they will lose at Elizabethtown 28-14. If the disciplined team that shut down McCracken Co. shows up, then it's PT 35-31.
Elizabethtown has feasted on cupcakes (Doug's kinda team!) and is riding high on one of the weakest schedules in 3A. Its opponents records are 45-73. Tilghman's opponents are 69-51.

Paducah Tilghman is a team that always seems gel at playoff time. PT 21-14.

I'll take PT in this one. They are a really good team and should be at Caldwell in two weeks for a rematch.

Tilghman may well lose because E'Towns a very good team, despite the weak schedule, but, not sure I agree with your statement about Edmonson.. PT actually beat Edmonson by 39 points and E'Town beat them by 25 and that game with PT got out of hand pretty quickly..

I think Etown's poor strength of schedule will hurt them. PT with the upset if they take care of the ball.

Mark Brown has also been running the wing T for over 30 years so I'm sure he knows a thing or two on how to slow it down.. This game will come down to who can control the line of scrimmage and who commits the fewest turn overs. If both teams can do that then whoever has the ball last will win the game

I have seen many teams run the wing t. Mike Rogers is the best I ever seen coach it. When he has the right personnel, he runs it more precision like than the Meade Co team that played in state 2 yrs ago. He runs it like an art form. Then Shanks has had to game plan against that it defense for many years. I therefore think if PT limits the turnovers and major penalties they walk away with a ticket to Princeton next week.

Funny you say that are you aware of who introduced Mike Rogers to the wing t? That's right Mark Brown!

E-town played without Cecil that night for the entire game, too.

Does a great job indeed.
Meade County runs more of a non Delaware Wing T, though (see LSU, Georgia Tech under Bobby Dodd, Kentucky under Bear Bryant). What you see with Meade County is more of an Midline, Option based Wing T. Granted, both of those are concepts of the Delaware Wing T (later added into the system by Tubby Raymond, former HC of Delaware), but that's not what that particular style is known for.

His first year of running it was the 94 season at Nelson County. Prior to that he was a Wishbone Belly/Triple option guy in which he had a whole lot of success with at Marion and Nelson County's.

This. Mike Rogers was one of Mark Brown's assistants at Nelson County, along with Spencer County's head coach Mike Marksberry.

E-town's, nor anybody schedule for that matter helps determine what you do in November. I get its a fun thing to talk about, but playing people better than you doesn't make you bigger, faster, stronger. It doesn't make your players better. All it does is give you a barometer to measure yourself and how "good" you really are.
I take that back....there are one or two ways it might "make you better" and that's from a mental aspect. If you beat and/or play a 'big boy' close, it can give your team a sense of "we've seen what we can do when we play the best" (which, just as what comes from winning, gives amother sense of confidence).
Secondly, E-town had:
-North Oldham (15 state semifinalist)
-North Hardin (talent and speed, a team that Caldwell County only beat by a TD as did E-town)
-Bardstown
-Glasgow
...as four of their non district games. Those are all 4, very household names year in year out.
Here is a little stat on North Hardin, they played a schedule that had EIGHT District Champions on it. To take it a step further, EVERY team that North Hardin played in the regular season WON in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Sometimes your opponents records are inflated, too. So, what if so and so beat an 8-3 team...much of the time, go and look as to who they have beaten.
Want to look at what playing an out of their minds schedule does? Look at UK football over the years compared to U of L.
UL took all kinds of heat and still does for their schedule back in the days of the old C-USA, and it takes heat now for the ACC, but what's the better football program the last 10-15 years (outside of a couple of Brooks years)? Granted up until last year they always played at the 1st of the year, but it wouldn't have mattered.
Schedule talk is fun, but way overblown.

So, the student faces the teacher. As far as the schedule thing goes, no it doesn't make you faster, stronger or bigger. However, it does make you learn how to adapt to other things quickly and affords you the opportunity to prepare for the type of teams that you will face in the later rounds of the playoffs.
