Ashland has won 1 of the last five meetings. In two of those contests JC won on the last play of the game while trailing. Kudos to JC for making the last play matter and being 4-1 instead of 2-3 in those games. While JC has shown better consistency through the recent years, the matchup is closer than most think. Close enough that there is a missed fg, a kicker flown in, and now an all state kicker. No matter what happens on the 23rd it will be the second one that matters.

Then why the scouting. Why has Oct 23 been circled on Jc's calender since last year. Why so much talk from you about Ashland. Ask any kid on either team what is the biggest game of the season. Ask any coach from either team. Have you seen a non rival game that creates the electric atmosphere of JC/Ashland. I don't think if there wasn't a rivalry Matney would act like he just won the super bowl after win over Ashland. At the Boyd county/Ashland game the stands was pretty much empty. Yep that rival is dead. JC/Ashland will be packed house. It wouldn't matter if there was a blizzard and hurricane hit Putnam stadium at the same time, the place would still be packed. Some of the best high school games I've seen have been between these teams. No rivalry between these two teams, sorry bib but as usual your wrong.
