Morgan County has maintained the best record in school history thus far. With a 22-3 record the Cougars have been a force to reckon with in Eastern Kentucky, only losses coming from Beechwood, Belfry, and discrict rival Elliott County. Cougar coach Matthew Perry has added another EKC tournament championship and EKC conference title to his resume this season, as Morgan is led by seniors Blake McCowan and Nathaniel Peyton. 6'6 center McCowan is averaging 12 ppg and 10 rpg, while shooting a state leading 68%. 6'2 gaurd Peyton is averaging 17 ppg while shooting 61% overall and 40% from behind the arc. Morgan County has a seven game winning streak going into the district tournament Monday night against the Comets of West Carter. The Cougars lead the series 1-0.

Lord help us, I heard he was lobbying for the UK job. I'm sure he could get them on the right track. At any rate, keep me informed of any Matt Perry coaching clinics. By the way, have you heard about the new mountain basketball web site. www.iammatt.com. Good stuff. :Cheerlead I'm joking fellas. Just a little comedy for the fella posters. Be easy on me. :worthy:

Good Article airball3. Sometimes Peyton seems to be overlooked in threads about the 16th region. He and McCowan are not flashy players that always stand out individually each game but then there are other things that define talent other than how many points they score. (Although they do score alot) Deflections, closing down lanes, assists, and rebounding are things that these two do well also.
Wonder if a certain guy.......I think his last name starts with a "P" might have helped them in honing these talents?:big grin:

Heh......knew you couldn't resist, Nike Man. BTW....I'll send you an application for Perry's summer clinic after they're printed. I know this will be high on your 'to do' list this summer. Keep up the comedy.

Yea your right Nike Man and let me be the first to say that I get upset really easy sometimes because it seems that Morgan County had struggled so long to establish themselves as a serious contender in football and basketball, and coach woods and coach perry and their associate coaches and the players have worked hard to give Morgan County something to be very proud of! No offense intended to you by any of my recent post.
