I finally can agree with 3A

1A 4 and 5 should be Russellville and Raceland in either order. Who has Paris or Campbellsville beat that Raceland or Rville wouldnt? Who has Rville or Raceland lost to that wouldnt beat Paris is Cville? Just interested to see everyone's perspective on that. I know Raceland has somewhat underwhelmed alot of us, but comparing Apples to Apples, what are your all's thoughts?

2A is an absolute mess, those voters have problems.

For two simple reasons: they've beat who they were supposed to (i.e. No losses) and Raceland has, in your own words, underwhelmed. They are the 1A version of Paducah Tilghman this year, no one knows what they're gonna do from one week to the next. Last weeks win over Lawrence County was a good one, now if they sustain that through a better than expected Fairview, a strong Paintsville, and a typically strong Russell, I can see them moving further up, especially if Paris drops a game going forward. But basically, did you or anyone else really see Paris undefeated at this point? And they caught Frankfort BEFORE the QB went out with an injury. Biggest test for them on the reg season schedule will be Brossart. That will tell us a lot.

Usually agree with you, but not on Paris. Frankfort wasn't going to be good even with their QB, and Paris's schedule is probably one of the weakest schedules ever put together. Also disagree that Brossart game will tell us anything. They too have played a schedule that if you combined all their opponents you still wouldn't have a good team. Paris at least does have Clark who is dangerous, but I still in no way would put them ahead of a good team that has played a tough schedule (Raceland).

I put CAL above Danville honestly and probably even Murray. Danville beat a very overrated Corbin team and is in the top 4. NewCath hasn't lost a State Semi game in literally like 7 years. Leslie county is sitting at 6 and has played the worst schedule in 2A. (Shelby Valley takes care of that next week). Lexington Christian is God awful along with Lloyd. I just really would love to see who the voters are.

And definitely tougher than Paris in most preseason expectations. Would that be a fair assessment? If so, then Paris continuing to win and even trouncing Middlesboro (who, by all accounts is horrible too, but has some decent athletes) and a pretty good Pineville team (hung tough with Hazard early before all the injuries Hazard had). I'm not saying that Raceland couldn't beat them, or that they might not get exposed before the playoffs, but all things considered, they've earned THIS YEAR, being ranked over Raceland at this point in the season. Raceland has the real meat of their schedule coming up. That will tell us if they're for real this year or not. It's all good though, that's why we do rankings, don't always have to agree, buddy.

I get ranking Paris higher than preseason, im nust saying if you look at the body of work, Paris has beaten teams along the same level as West Carter. I dont think they have played anyone nearly as good as Valley or Ashland. Their best win is against a few teams that maybe can compete with Lawrence County. But like u said, dont have to agree.

Let Paris and Raceland swap schedules and nobody would be arguing to put Paris ahead of Raceland is all I am saying...I hope Paris is that good believe me...I don't want the winner of the other district having a cakewalk into the semifinals at all. So go Paris!

Raceland should be at 6. Campbellsville lost there two best players and it will be tough.

Campbellsville's life sure is a lot harder than they expected this season. They were easily a team capable of making a regional championship game, but now I think they're probably going to be lucky to win their first game in the post season.
You gotta feel bad for them, because this was going to be a once in a generation type collection of talent.

I don't actually.
You take it on the chin by 42 and compare yourself to Central who beats St. X and only lost to manual by 14...
Belfry is #3 in 3A.. maybe #4

This is true but I've been waiting all year for people to realize we aren't #1 so I'll take a win when I can get it.

I agree but I don't want to fuss with AtlPirate or EKU. As far as I'm concerned they are #1 if/until Boyle County beats them.

The same Central team who got beat 3 scores by Dupoint Manuel who is currently ranked 1 spot above St. X.
Belfry took one of the chin by 42 by a team who would clearly be a top 5 team in the State of Kentucky.
I'm gonna break this down for a few people that might not take it into account or care about it. Central beat St. X yes, St. X also waxed the #1 team in 5A (Bowling Green). Bowling Green destroys Central Hardin 42-6 while Boyle only beats Central Hardin by 2 points. Boyle is not the monster people think they are. I still don't rank them above Belfry because they have played ABSOLUTLY NO ONE. Boyle has played 2 teams with a winning record. Bell County & Danville. Boyle County hasn't impressed me any to be in the conversation for a 3A title. Central and Belfry both have a harder schedule along with Lex Cath.

Granny Bear Wrote:I agree but I don't want to fuss with AtlPirate or EKU. Although I'm a big proponent that they should be #1 because they are the defending state 3A champs and haven't lost to KY competition this year. However, the loss to Cabell Midland, while a very good team, was too total of a shellacking for me to ignore.

I think McCracken will find their way higher in the polls. They unfortunately don't have many large calibre teams to play around here to help them move up. Since they don't have the power conference in their way this year, I think they should make it to the regionals or semis.
10-06-2015, 02:20 AM
I agree about Raceland. I actually put them at #4 this week, behind Paintsville, Beechwood and Pikeville. IMO, you have to reward teams who challenge themselves with a tough schedule. While they've lost 2 times, what other 1a team would beat Ashland or Valley or how many would beat Lawrence or Greenup, for that matter. Maybe a few, but, not many. Likely the 3 I had ahead of them and that would be about it.
While Paris is undefeated, they were not, imo, very impressive early in the year, winning a lot of close games against very average teams, however, the past few weeks, they have stepped it up and blown the teams out that a Top 5 team should. so, I give them a little credit for that.
After the way Danville blew out Campbellsville and considering the injuries, it's hard for me to put them any higher than 8 or 9.
While Russellville got hammered by Murray a couple of weeks ago, the way the Tigers took Mayfield to the limit, makes me think that loss isn't that bad. Murray's really a strong 2a team and, imo, would be favored out of the west if they were in 1a, ahead of Beechwood.
While I agree BBrossart deserves the #10 spot, nothing on their schedule gives me any reason to believe they can compete with the Top 3 or 4 1a teams, but, no one else has any better resume, so, it is what it is.

As far as 2a goes, I'm ok with either Mayfield or Desales at #1. A good argument could be made for either. I think 3,4,5 is CAL, OB Cath and Danville in no particular order. I also think you could make a good case for all 3 in any order. 6-9 is definitely Murray, NCC, LLoyd and Leslie, in no particular order. Again, you could make a solid case for any of the 4. #10 would be between Shelby Valley, Monroe Co, Cov Holy Cross and Butler Co. Each of those 4 have some negative things against them, but, each also have some positives to consider.
10-06-2015, 02:50 AM
Leslie county will be out of the top ten in 2a by the post season, Ncc should be in the top 5. #6 thru 10 is a toss up between those schools for 2a

Russellvilles loss to Murray isn't bad. It just looks bad on paper. You can,t turn the ball over that many times against a good team.

You wanna talk schedule?
SV has 3 Non-District wins..
Leslie Has 4 Non-District wins...
Combined wins for teams that Shelby Valley has beaten... 8
Combined wins for teams Leslie has beaten.... 7
The Hurley Va. win is a Joke because their 4 wins come against teams with 0-6, 1-5, 1-5, 2-4 records....
So you're not exactly world beaters by any stretch of the imagination...
And if you think Leslie Co. is intimidated by Coming to P-Burg or Shelby Valley, you're Crazy!!!

Shelby Valley and Prestbosburg were both 4 scores better than Leslie county last year and anyone at those games know it. Screw what the score board said.
Oh and the difference between coming to shelby valley and coming to prestonsburg this year for yoh all is, Prestonsburg lost almost their entire team. Shelby Valley lost 3 players. None of which were in that back field that ran for over 300 yards against that incredible run defense.
You were beat out of the playoffs by Lexington Christian for gods sake. By like 3 scores. Then shelby valley turns around and beats that team the next week by 2 touchdowns (would've been 3 with an LCA td coming in garbage time). But no I don't expect them to be intimidated by any means, I just expect them to come in and show everyone on this site that they aren't as good as people believe they are and get beat by Shelby Valley lol.
