I have never seen a Belfry team miss as many tackles than they did tonight

Doubt anyone in 3a is as good as Cabell Midland, so I wouldn't read to much into it.

What he's trying to say is that Cabell Midland won't play JC in a regular season varsity game. We've tried that. Trust me.
They're good. They're not as good as Belfry made them look tonight with turnovers and poor tackling. I've seen Belfry play many games over many years, and I've never seen them arm tackle and miss tackles like tonight, or make so many fundamental mistakes. They'll have time to figure out how to fix it before Boyle County. Belfry could have been competitive against this team, with better execution.

Tackling drills for everybody next week!!! Got smacked, learned a little about ourselves, now let's get better from it. Big game next week. Everyone was talking about the 4 game stretch of NCC, Pikeville, KnoxCath, and CM, but the 5th game of that stretch is the only one that matters. Lawrence County.

Belry will be ok with 4 big games in a row every body has a off game ,

I understand it has been a traumatizing night for you in a 42-7 old fashion ass kicking. But seems like to me you should be able to read. They will not play us at this time.(that does not mean they could not beat us) If you check last year's score with Belfry of 35-0 that about as well as the team from Canada played JC. :pondering:

Back to the game. Belfry will be fine. Might be the best thing that could happen. District Championship will be played next week. 3A is Belfry's until somebody proves otherwise.

Like an earlier poster said. This is why high school football is classified. They were on a complete other level, could it have been more competitive? Sure. If we play a clean game and they turn it over like we did, may even sneak out a win. But there was no doubt left in anybodys mind who the better team was. And I strongly believe no matter what gets put on this site that CM would handily beat JC.

Its also bad for your business to go running your mouth on here about a school that you know nothing. So you're saying Johnson Central plays puds? Do you consider Lexington Catholic and Belfry puds? We also scrimmage Cabell Midland. Do you consider them puds? If you want to talk about scheduling puds look no further than your own alma mater who's scared to death to schedule anybody but class a teams or some of the weaker programs in the area like Boyd and Powell. Geez stick show some knowledge and class when you post. If you don't believe me on the offer from Johnson Central to Cabell Midland just message your Facebook friend Coach Matney about it and he will confirm it.

I'll tell you whats good comic relief stick it's you creating a different screen name while continuing to post your normal bull shit like you invented the game. You want to say that Paintsville has better skill kids than Johnson Central? Now that's comical right there but I do agree that Paintsville has some nice skill players. I've always loved to watch Trimble and Phelps play. I'll give you that but to say they're better than Johnson Central's is just plain foolish and you may have lost what little credibility that you had left.

I'm friends with Salmmons+Matney. Just can't see either program ducking the other. Would love to see it happen be great for both programs and fans. Central's fans jumped into a Midland/Belfry thread and tried to make it a Midland ducking Central thread. Coached a lot of kids on Midlands team with their staff and struck a nerve. Have never hidden behind a screen name since there's been a football message board. I do have a clue about Central. Picked them to win it all preseason. Still think they will. Close to several kids on the team. Still hope they win it all. You can debate the skill positions but even KSR walked away thinking both Kash+Kent are D1. Line and depth are a whole other story! I will give you scheduling Belfry+Lex Cath is legit. Pissed off at everybody slamming group I care about when they don't have a voice on here. Probably a good sign to stay off of here and enjoy the games. Regardless of what you might think I would love to see Midland, Central, Paintsville + Lawrence win it all this year. If LC, Paintsville and Central can't hope Belfry, Raceland/Pikeville and Ashland do. Care about the kids in our neck of the woods. Get to caught up when people I care about are attacked. Appreciate you pulling me back down to Earth. Probably my last post for awhlie.

Hated to see the Pirates take one on the chin as they did tonight. Belfry made all kinds of mistakes. Turnovers, missed tackles, poor execution. And CM capitalized on every single mistake and did not look back. Big physical team they are. They smacked us right in the mouth and made us like it. But it will do nothing but get belfry more prepared for a deep playoff run. Hats off to you CM. Heck of a team and really sound football. I'd be surprised if they don't win state in WV. On to the next game. Gooooo belfry.

I am surprised at the final score of this game. I hope that Belfry can be more competitive with JC in a few weeks.

this is what happens with high school football , they are young men and its sometimes hard to keep them focused . Belfry lost to cm who cares . the big picture is going to bowling green and this game has nothing to do with that. I pull for belfry in ever game they play but one and by my log in name you can figure out which game I root for my alum. I don't know who dodges who and 90% of the posters on here are talking about who want schedule who. quit trolling and stirring up #$%^. yeah theres no doubt jc has had belfry number the last few years and I credit that to coach matney . about the time my son was a freshmen we got rollin and putting things together and have had a few good years, but with that being said when I played belfry handed us are a$$ every year and did so (i'm not a stat guy)for about 25, 26 years . good luck pirates hope can all sit together in bowling green

Well a couple of things. I honestly didn't see this coming but I wouldn't worry about it too much, Belfry will be just fine.
As for these blow hard JC fans when you can get past the second round of the playoffs then you can brag about how great you and Matney are. From what I can remember I haven't seen you in Bowling Green. You probably shouldn't beat your chest until you at least make it there.

Thanks for coming up to Ona guys, I got to meet some very nice people last night and I got to see what I still believe is one of the best teams in KY AAA. Belfry has a very classy program with some good players on both sides of the ball, even on the Midland side no one expected a score like that. 28 points off of 4 turnovers is huge. Midland is fundamentally sound, they are +14 in turnovers this year. And I haven't seen anyone on film handle #23 and #44 the way our O line did, Stapleton had a career night out of the backfield, Humphreys ran well. Our MLB Camp had 18 tackles, that kid is everywhere. I think you have a really good program and wish you the best of luck the rest of the way.

Trust me, if Highlands and Covington Catholic had been in their class, Belfry wouldn't have gotten any further than JC did. Judging by what happened on the field between the two teams in the late season the last few years, if JC had been in Belfry's region, Belfry wouldn't have made quite so many trips to Bowling Green either. You can say "playoffs are everything" all you want, but when you get to play teams like Pike Central and Lawrence County in the second and third rounds instead of (often nationally-ranked) Highlands and Covington Catholic, you're not playing in the same kind of playoff. Nobody's being a "blow hard"; these are simply facts. Belfry took advantage of the opportunities the KHSAA gave them in the last alignment round, so all the credit for that and they did very well with it, but you can't deny that Highlands would've been the end of the road for any team in the state in 4A or 3A (and probably 5A too) for the last 7 years with Mueller running the show. Now we'll see what JC can do with the new one, and we'll see how Belfry does in the new and improved 3A. Will be interesting for both sides.

Comparing Belfry and JC accomplishments is beating a dead horse, different classifications of football different paths to state championships. Sorry we don't have as many kids as you all, sorry our road may have been easier, you have clearly been the better team the last few years it has been proven on the field. Give it a break, and until this year other than playing Belfry JC hasn't played anybody out of district That was any good.

I agree, they are entirely different animals, and thank you for acknowledging the on-field results between the two teams. I would like to touch upon the point about school size, since it keeps getting repeatedly mentioned that Cabell Midland is the biggest school in West Virginia: Tates Creek has an enrollment of 1825 and Cabell Midland is 1910, and do they look like the same caliber of team on the field? Belfry beat Tates Creek 55-38 this season, for those who don't want to look back at the scoreboard. For that matter, Henry Clay has over 300 more students than Cabell Midland, and just got waxed by Pulaski 43-0. Cabell Midland isn't quite as mammoth as some posters want us to believe, and size of student body alone isn't the only reason for results on the field.

Plain and simple. CM is a top 3 team in the state of Kentucky. And they was well coached. It's like they new exactly what we was running. And we could've played a flawless game and we would've still lost. I know are boys learned a big lesson. And all you JC fans can look into that scrimmage. But you can't come close to CM. and last year you pretty much beat out JV. We has 7 starters out and lost out back up

If Belfry was in the same class as Highlands then both schools would have comparatable enrollment numbers. You give me Highlands with 3A numbers or Belfry with 4A numbers the past few years and I will give Belfry a chance. BHS is 2-1 against Highlands since 1979 and on that fateful night in 1989 when Highlands won against Belfry the Pirates were the better team. Before you start spouting about the last 7 years of Highlands dominance remember in your scenario Highlands either has fewer players or Belfry has more regardless you have to adjust for enrollment numbers if you are going to make a statement like that.

You may hand Jc a good beating this year but continuing to make excuses for last year loss is not Belfry like and getting a little old. Yes you had players out. But so did JC. JC had 2 of their better players hurt that just part of football. I have a hard time remembering all the players you had out, it keeps changing from poster to poster, but I believe you had 10 of 11 Offense Starters who players and you did not score. Hell I can not remember you getting in the red zone. Belfry rushed for a 127 yards with Hatfield have 5 carries for 10 yards. How was you going to win this game if you can not score. If you had all your starters in maybe JC only score 14 or 21 that make you feel better? Come on Belfry to good a program to act like LC

For the 2013-14 season - the most recent numbers on the KHSAA web site - Belfry's numbers are 647 this season, and HHS is at 940, and that's by far the biggest difference in the last six years. A difference of 293 students is not a full class size apart. If you go back to the beginning of the Highlands run - I picked the 2009-10 enrollment numbers from the KHSAA web site - Belfry was 721 and Highlands at 740. If you go forward to 2011-2012, it was Belfry 767, Highlands 818. Take 2012-2013, Belfry 738, Highlands 888. If you look at the 4-year average boys enrollment - which they used to draft the current alignment - Belfry is 380.8, Highlands at 450.8, a different of 70. The difference between the largest and smallest 3A schools is 420 - 315 = 105, so Highlands is not even a class size larger than Belfry over the last four year; they barely made the cutoff for 4A this year.
I don't have to adjust those numbers. They're pretty much the same. And have been over the last seven years. Highlands in 1989 and Highlands from 2007-2014 are different animals, just like Highlands in 2015 is a different animal. Both JC and Belfry could play with this version of Highlands. Mueller's version of Highlands would have dominated both just the same.

What exactly does that have to do with anything?
It must kill you JC fans to know that it's a Belfry Pirate that gives you success. That every Friday night a man forged in the fires of Death Valley, that stood on the sidelines of Vipperman stadium leads your precious Eagles onto the field and without that Belfry Pirate blood that runs deep (maybe secretly these days) in his veins you would still be the 2nd best team in your county and mediocrity would still be the order of the day.
So, I think the words you are looking for is "Thank you Belfry for our football savior"
