Cabell Midland, WV 49 Belfry 7
#1
Good ole fashioned butt kicking. No other way to say it, Belfry just ran into a different class of team that exposed them.

Hats off to a very impressive CM team!
#2
Wow
#3
Humphrey and Stapleton were awesome for CM..probably 400 rushing yards between the two
#4
Key play that basically ended this one:

Around 1:30 left in the Half and facing a 3rd and Long in CM territory Belfry opts to throw a pass instead of running it. Pass is picked off and after a long return sets up CM. They score to go up 28-7 and with :30 left Belfry fumbles the ensuing kickoff. CM hits a TD pass.

Instead of entering the break down 21-7 and receiving the ball to open the 3rd it is 35-7 and the game was out of reach.

CM though was just next level...deeper, faster, and better tacklers. Left NO doubt.

No way Will Belfry win 3A. I thought they had a shot but Not after tonight

Don't give up on Belfry. Midland is comparably to Scott Co maybe less athletes more physical.
#7
Scott Co seems like a fair comparison.

I hope fans don't over analyze this game too much. We know a certain troll will have his fun.

If you follow Belfry football you know that Belfry has this game about this time each year. They go absolutely brain dead play terrible football for several quarters. The problem is it usually happens against a weaker district opponent. LC last year, Pike Central a year or two before. This time they had this game against the #1 team in WV and there was no recovering. The Pirates will regroup and may even have one more loss on the year before it's over. This game is not indicitive of the rest of the schedule. I said in the prediction thread that I like a good gut check loss and this is what that was.

No way good as scoot co when jc,
played them there backs didn't want to run the ball didn't like contact jc scored ,3 touch downs threw the air ran in two more jc been trying play cable Midland for a couple of years but the answer is always we will scrimmage but don't want to play we beat them in freshman game and the cried we were playing senior in freshman game , no love for cable Midland with a school of 2500 kids you should be like trinity or st x ohio .
#11
Well lc will get to play a pissed off belfry team.
#12
I was kinda afraid this one would turn out like this. Belfry knows a lot of things they got to work on now, and I am sure coach will use this to prepare the team to make a run into December.
#13
I love people that take scrimmages soooooo serious. Cmon man, it's a scrimmage! Cabell midland was the most impressive team physically I've seen Belfry play against since the Ironton teams of the 90's and 00's.

Those were some dag on good teams. I recall lining up against them, very physical and executed everything perfectly.
#15
Cabell Midland was just bigger, faster and stronger. If that game was played 10 times Cabell wins all 10. That was a impressive football team! Johnson Central must have there number! Keep in mind JC beats Belfry last several years by about the same score, and Belfry continues to go to and win state championships. It's a great game for Belfry to come back to reality and work on things that got exposed (tackling). I can assure you that Belfry will be there come December and will not face a team of this caliber in 3A.
#16
Haywood and company needed this to keep this team focused on the season that matters in a few weeks. You took your ass kicking. Now back to work on a 3 peat.

No I was just saying cable Midland won't play jc. Been ask for several years , I was pulling for belfry. But like I said with a school of 2200 or 2500 hundred kids cm should play j.c I told the truth there backs didn't want no part of jc linebacker and d ends
Belry will be ok with 4 big games in a row every body has a off game ,

I'm a big fan of Haywood he graduated with my dad and uncle from p burg so . I always root for the pirates except week 10 vs my eagles ,

Most teams around the state consider playing Belfry moving up to "big boy football". Tonight, Belfry was introduced to "big boy football". Amazing how different the levels are. Belfry will still win 3A in Kentucky.

I've only read and never responded on this site. A lot of trolling and also a lot of of good insight. I may not be the most knowledgeable individual when it comes to high school football but I was at the JC and CM scrimmage. Johnson Central only ran about 5 deffrent plays against CM and coach also subbed early. Jc was in complete control of that Scrimmage and on a different level. I'm not taking nothing away from CM because they are a really good team but JC has thier number. I don't look for either team to play thier starters much when Belfry plays JC. Bowling green will be invaded by Eastern Ky this year!

Put your money where your mouth is and schedule them in a REAL game! You don't have to go getting pud teams from Canada! Midland is a short drive!

Shellacking!!!!

I'm not one to try to play out a loss and make it look like the Cowboys or Steel Curtain beat us, but in 25 years of watching Belfry football I've not seen a better team. I've seen Ironton with O$U recruits, Leslie Co. with Tim Couch, all the Central teams, E-Town with 3 SEC players who contributed to Auburn, UK, and Alabama...but never have I seen a team as complete as this Cabell Midland team.

Great, great team and we were just outclassed.

If JC is better, and I don't judge by scrimmages, then Jim Matney is as good as they come in EKY. Hats off to Luke Salmons for waking a sleeping giant. That atmosphere was reminiscent of old school Belfry games and they level of play was even better.
#28
Johnson Central will beat Belfry in a similar fashion. Not trolling that's what I truly believe. I called this 1 lopsided, and was laughed at. That's why we have different classes in football.
#29
I also think JC will handle Belfry easily. I'm a belfry fan and I'm not just saying this bc of this loss but I think we are a lil overhyped this year. Our defense is nowhere near as good as last years and our offense will struggle against physical defenses
#30
I think if anything this prepares Belfry a bit for Johnson Central more than anyone else they will face this season. I think tonight was an off night and while I expected a Pirate loss in this one I didn't expect it to be so lopsided. CM is a dandy team but let's not overlook the fact that Belfry hurt themselves tonight as much as CM hurt them. I think the Pirates came into this thinking they could take on the world after last weeks win and we not in the right state of keep nf for a battle. I won't make a prediction now because too much football is left to be played but I think Belfry and JC game will be closer than this one was.
