Pulaski to play remaining home games at Northern Middle?

Does it need a new drainage system? it doesn't make sense that they dont fix the field right to begin with.seems like they'd want facilities and playing surfaces that the players and community would be proud of, with the good teams they have.

Someone said they had a band competition last Saturday on that field and it was a mess after that. The blame has to go with the BOE for deciding against turf. Pulaski Co. is so behind when it comes to facilities for all sports except basketball. such a shame. That school deserves better.

any pictures of it

Per Coach Hines - They will use their home field this weekend.

There is no way a band competition could mess the field up that bad.. someone just trying to make excuses for a big mistake the BOE made by not putting turf down or properly taking care of the problems the field had to start with.

I remember Bowling Green covering the whole field with tarps and using blowers underneath them the whole week to dry the field for a playoff game. My point is, you have to know how to take care of the field and it takes a lot of work. Our field is always in good shape for those Thanksgiving day practices. Sounds like the Pulaski County BOE doesn't want to put forth the money or the effort for the returning state champs. Coach Hines will get fed up with that bunch and they might lose the best coach they've ever had. The citizens of Pulaski County need to remember these things, when the elections come up. That looks like the only way for those kids to get a decent playing field. I hope there isn't a major injury, before they wake up and fix the problem!

I wish Coach Hines would consider a coaching job in Warren County. He would be a great coach for Warren Central or Warren East. Just saying.

#40
The Band Competition had zero effect on that field. Also, didn't rain a drop during the comp. If anything, they helped dry it out. That field has ALWAYS held water and become a mess during the season. Need turf or major work done to address the problems.

You have lost your mind, the band competitions destroy football fields and it rained all morning Saturday.:please:

If I am a pretty prominent program needing a HC and have some booster money, he is one of the first names I am calling.

Most Head Coaches in Kentucky of his stature would require a small army to make them leave, but I get the sense if the right fit came for Hines he would be gone in a flash because for all the positive he has brought to that school it just seems it is a constant stream of politics and people trying to pat their own backs.

Could you imagine Hines with the resources and support of Fort Thomas Highlands or CovCath? Both schools aren't exactly content with their current Head Coach right now.

Or imagine him taking over either Henry Clay or Lafayette with that talent pool at his disposal that usually gets wasted.

band competitions can destroy a field and the band don't care as long as they get their competition in.

Hines is a good coach when he has the QB and WRs he has had.
Put him at Berea and see how good he does then.
#44
I remember when Pulaski was like Berea. You have to start somewhere. He could go to Jenkins and have a home playoff game in three years. I would bet money. The guy is awesome coach and great modivator. Someone will get a steal.

Pulaski is what it is because it has the best feeder school in the state period... Northern Pulaski Middle. That is the bottom line.
#46
Good youth league, good Middle school program, Good High School program with coaches that have been together a long time and very good players!

Fact is you have to have talent to be a successful coach anywhere. I have seen some great coaches ridiculed because they were just limited talent-wise.

Your kid must be getting a lot of playing time.

Confusederiously:

How long has Coach Hines been HC at Pulaski? Since 1990 Pulaski record going into this year is 136-137.

Hines came to Pulaski as an assistant in 1995 and took over as head coach in '99.

Interestingly, over that same time period, Pulaski's facilities have been upgraded tremendously, so to suggest that their current problems with the game field are solely the result of administrative apathy or incompetence seems a bit shortsighted.

I don't really know or care what contributing factors have resulted in the field's current condition. I'm sure there are many. However, the school system does seem to support both of its football programs pretty well . . . certainly much better than they did 20 years ago, anyway.

Nope but I do remember when he was 3-8 and about to get fired. If you don't believe me investigate how many 18-19 year old kids are on this years Pulaski team. Their middle school program is top notch. They make sure the kids are the correct age to be the most successful.
#52
What was his record before riley hall? The guy at Northern seems to be a pretty good recruiter too. Is he good enough to be a head coach at a high school?

about to be fired? one losing season after graduating 17 seniors that won a regional title (the schools first ever) i I don't think he was about to be fired. That's a lame comment!

Henry Clay 3 PC 0. Going to be a ugly muddy game. I sure hope the rain quits.:concentratetongue::why:

So a band was on the field and it wasn't even halftime??
#56
Trust me, I was there all day Saturday and the field was already destroyed before the band stepped foot on it. Funny, blame the Band.

And that's the elephant in the room. Hines is a fine coach, but you'd be a fool not to acknowledge the impact holding players back in middle school has had on his success the past couple years. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, rules is rules as they say.

As for the field, no sympathy from me. They should have done a better job maintaining the field they had. Somerset's field used to hold water just as bad and we've always had a well maintained field. Southwestern has always done a good job of maintaining their field as well. I think a few people might have been a little upset that they didn't get turf and let it get as bad as it is now.

Learn how to read. No one is blaming the band. People are blaming the idiots that let 17 bands get on a new $75,000 sodded field. And judging by the pictures the field was not destroyed by the football game Friday night. If you need more proof that the field was not destroyed by the football game, come look at the SW field. We played at home Friday also, on the same sod in the same weather conditions and our field is in tip top shape. No way under any circumstances would Larry French, Scott Gregory let a band competition take place on SW field if it was raining and wet. In my opinion ever who allowed this to happen should not be working for the school system if they are no more concerned with school funds than that.

Go look at your records for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and compare your records with see what the other two teams across town were and you'd have to admit there was pressure. That is about the time there was a shift in how things were done at Northern Pulaski Middle and now you are seeing the results. I'm just stating the obvious. Nothing illegal but that was made a priority I can guarantee you on that one. I've seen the letters that were sent home with the students at Northern. It was there advantage and they took it.

The same 2 people are responsible for maintaining both fields. Assistant Superintendent and head of maintenance. So going by what you saying the same people taking good care of SW have been neglecting PC.
