Very true. Central scrimmaged Midland this year and it was 28-7 in the 3rd before the subs were entered. I believe the final was 28-14 or 28-21 Central in the end. I look for Belfry to be in a tight game for a bit, but pull away late.

I believe Belfry's line will just wear Midlands down and Belfry will pull away in the 4th. 34-20

I would be surprised if either team scores 3 times, unless there is overtime involved. The good ole field goal may decide this one. Pulling for the Pirates.

Cabell Midland - 29
Belfry - 21
Belfry - 21

I am a big fan of a gut check LOSS coming before the playoffs. Especially when riding a big win streak. Cabell Midland and Johnson Central are the two left on the schedule who can deliver that, with LC being a distant possibility.
Running the table and going undefeated is a difficult feat and more often than not an undefeated teams roll into the playoffs only to fall at some point. Belfry has experienced this at least three times (79, 07,08) that I can recall. I've seen it happen to Somerset, Mason Co, Bourbon Co, Wayne Co. South Warren and Breathitt Co and that is just within the last 5 years that I can recall. I just don't like those odds of being undefeated in the playoffs.
Speaking of odds the Pirates are trying to accomplish another tough task that grows more difficult each year statistically and that is play in consecutive state titles. The Pirates will appear in their 6th straight 3A State Title if they make it this year. This feat has only been accomplished or surpassed by the following 1A Mayfield 09 - 14, 1A Beechwood 91-97, 2A/3A Boyle Co 99-04, 4A/6A Trinity 05-12, 4A/5A Highlands 07-14. Great company to be in. All of those teams accomplished at least a 3-peat if not more during those runs.

West Virginia highschol football is not as good as Kentucky highschool football, Belfry wins in OT 27-21. Boyle County,Belfry or Central one of these 3 wins the title

its not as good because Kentucky steals most of their players, and Kentucky high school football is still weak.

When was the last time Belfry even played a West Virginia team is my bigger question?
Not in my lifetime that I am aware of

The last I remember was mid 90s maybe, they traveled to Matewan. I remember going to the game at Matewan with my dad. This may have even been early 90s before 0304 was born.

Played at Logan in the late '80s I believe. Played Ceredo-Kenova about 1980. I think there were some Bluefield contests in the '60s, but I'd have to check that at home this evening.

Good Question, as for the Mingo County schools, here's the
last time they played:
Belfry Vs. Burch, 10/2/1954
Belfry Vs. Gilbert, 10/8/1932
Belfry Vs. Matewan, 10/3/1980
Belfry Vs. Williamson, 10/28/1988

Their losses coming into last weeks game were to Christ Presbyterian Academy who is currently ranked #3 in TN and 103 nationally, and traditional TN powers in Knoxville Central and Fulton. At no point was the discussion ever about them being one of the best in Tenneesse. For you and a few others to write them off as highly overrated cupcakes just displays your intelligence, or lack thereof.
On to Cabell-Midland, who is our primary focus for this week.
Fulton squeaked past Morristown West in Hamblen County then got hammered at Maryville

Hmm if they haven't played Matewan since 80 then maybe it was a game at Logan I remember.

pjchump is irrelevant. I can remember some of the old Belfry vs. Williamson games very well, especially on the basketball court. Had a lot of family play for the Wolfpack, one who unfortunately suffered a spinal cord injury in the late 90's.

My dad and I went a couple times to see the Melvin Cunnginham teams play.
