Belfry @ Cabell-Midland 10/02

The undefeated Pirates take on the undefeated Knights. Cabell-Midland is West Virginia's largest school. Who ya got and why? I think it is a punch for punch ballgame with Belfry needing to clean up some sloppiness and Cabell riding high after beating Capital and South Charleston 2 out of the last 3 weeks. Should be a dandy.

This will be a very interesting game. Cabell Midland has defeated Capitol 2 weeks ago. That was a HUGE shock game in WV... Belfry better play mistake-free football for 4 solid quarters and force Midland to make the mistakes. If not, Belfry could be in for a LONG NIGHT...

I was confident last week.

This week not so much. Will break it down further but this is a different animal than Knoxville Catholic.

KC has not seen a team like Belfry and I knew Belfry would be extremely tough for the to prepare for. Cabell Midland is the prototype of a team made to defend Belfry.

One thing I know is Belfry has NO SHOT if they don't clean up the procedure penalties, fumbles, and general execution lapses that has taken points off the board in each of the past two games.

Ashland's Freshmen (and a few sophs) got whupped at CMHS earlier this month. It's a factory and they'll just have the Pirates outmanned I think.

Also if their PA man is the same (or has the same schtick) it gets old fast. CMHS 35-14, but I'll be pulling for Belfry.

Quite the contrary EKU, I believe 64 has a healthy respect for Cabell Midland's offense. With this game being played on their home turf, I can understand his reasoning.

I saw some footage from their scrimmage with Johnson central. It appeared the Eagles shut them down pretty handily. Again this is just going by hudl footage of their scrimmage

I believe that pound for pound Kentucky football is just stronger then WV. I don't like to put much stock in the score of scrimmage games, but Cabell Midland did seem to play very well against Johnson Central before the start of the season. I think Belfry will pull away late in this game and win by 14 because I don't think the state of WV has a team that can pound a defense with the run like Belfry does.

Yeah.. THEIR DEFENSE not their offense HAHA

Both teams like running the ball and grinding drives.

I dont think Belfry wins but would be a bit surprised if either team reaches the 30's.

Belfry's run defense is outstanding... if CM hurts Belfry it most likely will have to be on Play Action or long drives. Likewise I think the size and depth of CM will give Belfry serious problems and slow down the Pirate Offense that is been humming so far.

Coach Haywood has Belfry playing some of the best competition that he can schedule and will work into both teams schedule. Some people talk like Belfry tries to play a soft schedule. One of the teams that keep coming up is Boyle, which does appear to be a power house. Boyle's current national ranking is 509. This week we will be playing Cabell Midland who's current national ranking is 237. This doesn't sound to soft considering Belfry is currently nationally ranked at 823.
