You Have no idea how much that means to a tiger. Hopefully, we can get the crowds in the stands that we used to and we can get everybody cheering us on. The feeling is electric when you are on the field. I love it. I believe that tiger fans are the best fans in the world.

I'm thinkin that maybe, just maybe Reynolds can beat Cantrell out of the running back spot and start for the tigers...

I've personally seen him in the weight room and he definitely pushes himself...right now, he is among the four strongest players on the team...i believe that if he does his best, this season we might see Casey Brown as an ALL DISTRICT contender.:omg: That kid is hungry for the field this year.

Casey Brown will be a player, believe the hype. I could have made a highlight tape of him just on kickoffs. We'll see how he does on the line. Funny that you quote yourself to comment on Casey. No worries though I'll send many praises Casey's way. For the TB spot, it's up for grabs. Reynolds could do it, Cantrell could do it, and with the speed Humphrey has brought to the Tigers he could be a tailback. Heck it may be a back by committee.

Here's a break-down of Paintsville's RB's...
--I don't know about Reynolds. I never really thought he was the TB type. He's more of a FB. He's not very fast, nor quick. He does have pretty good size but, i doubt he has the ability to break one loose.
--Cantrell is a bruiser. He's a very strong runner and we saw what he could do in the Apple Bowl two years ago. I think he might be the Tigers best fit at the TB position.
--Preston is definantly a scat back! He's small about 5'8" 140-145 but, he has incredible speed. I don't know about him but, if he gained some weight and miraculously got up to around 180lbs (haha) this off-season, boy would he be tough to stop! I'd say they'll move him to WR. Butcher is much like Preston but, even smaller and a bit slower.
--Sublett is a little tank. He's like a boulder! He's very strong and I'd love to hear that boys squat numbers if anyone knows them. Sublett should be a force this year at FB and as I like to say "an automatic 4-yards." Sublett also will be an excellent leader for the Tigers this season.
I think the Tigers could have a very nice running game this season! With a mixture of these excellent runners it'll be tough for anyone in the district to stop them!

Reynolds is much better than you know!!! This kid has big game written all over him!!!
I can't be sure, but i was told he either broke JCMS rushing record held by some Blume kid, or he would have as he was injured and missed a few games! I was told from a very reliable source.

Might want to check your sources, Cody's a good back but I just don't know about that. Sharing the backfield with Welch, Dillon and Hamilton, he'd be lucky to crack the top 10 in JCMS rushing. That "shoulda, woulda, coulda" is easy to say and that may be the situation here. Plenty of people would have made All-State if they had the right circumstances to hear them tell it. Warrior I agree with everything you say but I'm going to add a few things. The new Humphrey kid, fast bottomline could be a tailback and wouldn't suprise me he's got to be a tough kid. Reynolds more of the fullback type, not real fast and doesn't have big play ability in my opinion. Cantrell is the most experienced on the team at the TB position but has a tendancy to fumble. If he works on his game, gets stronger, and decides he's going to get what he can rather than try to make big plays he'll be a dandy. Hunter and Butcher are two tough kids, Hunt maybe faster but Pat likes to hit more. Don't know what Subby squats but know he's an effective short yardage back, capable of busting one, also is deceptively fast, effective run and pass blocker with experience returning to the backfield.

First off don't count out Cody Reynolds I am from SV and we would love to have him back. We here in the valley did keep up with him when he was at JC last I heard he had like 69 carries for 1400 yards that is Good no matter how you say it. Welch, Dillion and Hamilton all had over 100 carries and not sure on the yards but no were near 1400 and they are all good all 4 of these young boys will make some noise at the high school level. Cody's Dad was a hell of a football player in the late 80's for Virgie. His Cousin is the QB for SV right now. Also Casey Newsome was one of the best that ever played for SV is also a Cousin. Not to mention his little brother Brett he was 4th grade when they moved to Johnson County and one of the best athletes I have ever seen Football , basketball and he was a awesome baseball player. I did watch Cody in a game when JC played Morgan Co. he had over 200 yards. This kid will make some noise for Paintsville along with Sublett, Preston and Cantrell.
Think what a team SV would have if they had Reynolds, Harmon and Merchant all still in the Valley,,,,,,

I don't think anyone is counting him out. I think all Warrior and I said was he isn't really made for the TB position. You watched him play in grade and middle school. I watched him last year as a freshman, granted he had little game experience but when Hans went down and he got some carries he wasn't too productive. It's nothing against Cody, he's a great kid, with great ability as a player just not TB material. Cody doesn't have great speed and isn't really an outside runner. He runs strong though and I think his abilities would utilitzed more at FB spot. He could give both backs in the Tigers offense a blow when needed. Sublett's not been real durable throughout his career and has to deal with injuries also goes both ways. Reynolds maybe needed to fill the FB position from time to time.

They stopped keeping them after Matney came I do Believe. Reynolds has some tough competition here. A lot of speed and power. Amazing what one school can produce. He is in the top ten but id say at like 4 or 5

That's middle school, buddy! I remember most of the teams we played against in middle school were pathetic! It's a brand new game at the next level...
By no means am I putting down Reynolds! He's a decent athelete, he's got some size, and he's also a very good kid

I don't see how they'll be able to keep the Humphrey kid off the field at some position next year, especially on offense, given what he did at Lawrence County in a 3A district.
There's plenty of skill position talent there with Pugh, Sublett, Cantrell, and Humphrey. The question is, who's going to block for them? Pugh might've accounted for ten TDs in a game against Class A competition, but against Johnson Central, he spent the entire game running for his life. He needs linemen to do what he does best.
And the defense??? There's been lots of talk about the offense here...but who's left to stop anybody???

I think next year's line if they continue to work hard could be a little more aggressive than this past years. Paintsville's early season schedule would allow these younger kids to get the game experience they currently lack. Paintsville does return starting center J.J. Hensley. Early last season the Tigers were without Blake Lemaster due to injury, Justin Stafford filled in that spot at tackle and done a good job. Paintsville also returns reserves from last year at guards in the likes of Casey Brown, Bucky Bailey, and Casey Leonard at tackle. Leonard is a hard worker with a big heart for the game, if he can stay healthy he could help the Tigers tremendously. I've also been told that Josh Watkins, plans to return to the gridiron this season. Watkins could help the Tigers upfront and in their kicking game. Paintsville also lost a lot upfront on the defensive side of the ball but do return veterans and leaders in the likes of Pugh, Sublett and Cantrell. Late in the season last year, Joe Meade, Brown, Hensley and Bailey got a lot of experience upfront. Subby was out with an injury early in the season and throughout the season in a reserve role J.D. Vanhoose did a good job filling in at LB. It is likely he might move to defensive end, opening a spot at linebacker for Bailey or Reynolds along side Subby in the Tigers' 5-2. Cantrell and Pugh return in the secondary, it is likely Humphrey will play some in the secondary as well. I've also been told that a few of the basketball players plan to play football such as Grimm, Slone, Bundy and Justin Meek. Meek could help the Tigers up front on both sides of the ball. Grimm, Slone and Bundy could be assets in the secondary and as receivers offensively. Grimm or Vanhoose would then move inside to play TE in the Tigers offense.

I'm not sure but you may see a 4-4 next year since the Tiger's are so deep at LB. Paintsville got killed last year off tackle so something will have to be done. I really hope that those guys you mentioned do come out next year because we could really use the help. Having Slone, Bundy and Grimm on the field would set up a really nice "fast break on grass." Add VanHoose and Pugh to that mix and it will be fun to watch. No doubt every defense the Tigers face will model their defenses after Pikeville and Somerset and force Pugh to beat them with his arm (which is fine with me, his numbers through the air speak for themself.) Paintsville lost some key linemen but return some good young players up front that BETTER BE IN THE WEIGHT ROOM EVERYDAY. They need to realize it all starts up front. The athletes behind them will create plays but they must block. Sublett and Pugh will be the leaders of this team and I expect great things from both of them. Coach Cherico has and always will do a fine job with the secondary and I'm sure the Tigers will be a better team than they were last year.

The Apple Bowl is a huge game, but Paintsville and JCHS focus on the playoffs. We are Class A so most of the kids we talk about on offense will also be the same ones on defense.
