Paintsville 23 Pikeville 22 (OT)
Any news on Phelps' injury? How long is he out?
pjdoug Wrote:and Raceland can't beat Williamsburg:biggrin:

Won't have to this year.
Phelps has a grade 1 mcl strain.....

You missed the point Smile
killbilly usmc Wrote:Just admit It. Pikeville keeps getting to much credit, and billed as the best team in the east in 1a. Time, and time again its proven otherwise. If they keep playing Paintsville they will eventually win one, so hang in there.

"If they keep playing Paintsville. "Lol -they will keep playing and Pikeville will be fine as will Paintsville some years .. they were 1-1 against each other last year. they got a one point overtime win last Friday. And I'm bout positive they will meet again in playoffs. I'm happy Paintsville has emerged as some good single A competition! I just think acting like they are head n shoulders better is silly . Everyone that watched that game knows it could have easily went the other way. I look forward to next meeting. And expect another great game!

Never heard anyone say Paintsville was head and shoulders better. I have heard it said many times Pikeville is the best in the east, which I think has been debunked. Personally I think the 2 are about a dead heat, and id take Pikeville in a close 1 next time around.

I understand perfectly what you meant but your point is moot this year.

Gotta love his enthusiasm but he sounds like Rick flair
I usually just read the posts and replies, But I am just wondering why Pikeville continues to shun catching a punt and it seems all their kickoffs are grounders. Is this the coach's decision or the players! This removes so much excitement from the game. I thought they had some great opportunities to gain a lot of yards on some of those punts. I like both teams. Neither is my favorite. My unbiased observation was that Pikeville looked like the better team but had some bad breaks!
Looks can be deceiving.

I agree with the punt return(or lack thereof) situation. Don't know if it's either a Coaches decision, or just a split decision by the player. not only does it put more excitement I the game , but maybe better field position.

But two snaps over the QBs head, one on Paintsville's 10 and once on 1st down with 4 minutes left with Pikeville only needing to run the clock out to win are very clear. Cut out those two bad snaps and Pikeville wins going away.

They had it wrapped up for sure. I'm sure that'll stay in their minds until round two.
It wasn't just the two snaps over the QBs head, on one they had control of ball and lost it during the tackle. All the turnovers were game changers and gave Paintsville momentum. This is something the team can work on. The offence will get better and overall the defense played great.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda!!! IF ifs, ands and buts were candy and nuts you guys from Pikeville would have a Merry Christmas! Don't you think those bad snaps could have been caused by the nose guard wearing out the Pikeville center. Two great teams in a titanic battle producing a great high school football game. Quit making excuses and blaming kids for mistakes. Both teams will improve before their next meeting. It should be awesome!!!
GO TIGERS!!! GO PANTHERS!!!!! See you in November!!!

Pretty sure at least one of the mishandled snaps, if not both, came when the starting C was on the sideline because his helmet got *ahem* somehow seperated from him while in the bottom of piles. Confusedhh:

I also hope both teams are fortunate enough to get to play each other again later in the season. Will be another ticket well worth the price.
Can we please move on to the next weeks games. Paintsville handed Pikeville there ass on a silver platter. Stop making excuses.

Looks like someone is out of meds again...
Both teams are good this year, can't wait for round two.

I thought the general rule was if your center can't snap shotgun, don't use shotgun

Pikeville was in position to execute and seal a very close win. They did not execute. The Tigers kept coming at them. That key snap in the fourth was partially the result of an exhausted center battling with a 300 lb NG all night, plus playing both ways(as the entire Panther line did). All those kids on both sides of the ball are to be commended and proud for playing their hearts out that night, and representing their schools and families with dignity. Mistakes are created more often than unforced.

I agree with the Belfry fan as bad as I hate to. I wondered why they didn't move the quarterback up under center and stop using the shotgun formation

I would guess he consumes too much alcohol Smile
Ole ball coach you don't have a clue on the fumbles!!! The two fumbles didn't have anything to do with the 300 lb NG. The first one was a perfect snap and the qb mishandled the ball and the 2nd one in the 4th qtr the starting center went out with a cramp and his replacement snapped the ball over the qb's head. If you are goin spout off at least have half a clue to what you are talking about!!!
Panthers dominate have you ever played a snap of football or coached at any level?
pjdoug Wrote:I would guess he consumes too much alcohol Smile

This may drive me to drinking. The last 2 times Paintsville goes through them like fear through the French army we hear about it for months afterwards. Never seen a fanbase make so many excuses. Maybe they will win next time so we don't have to hear it again. I doubt Paintsville fans would rant this much. How would the Pikeville fans like it if Russellville fans said they where better in 87 only if all there players would have got to play on title game day. Bet they say it would have made no difference, but we get the constant excuses from them. Ill just troll Belfry threads cause this one is even to ridiculous for me.:flush:
