Here is what a coach told me, they tried not to play players both ways in the 1st half due to the heat and humidity, several of the normal defensive starters did not play defense at all in the 1st half. The experience that those young players got on defense tonight will help this team down the road. When lc needed to they put the bigs in and shut boyd co down. Lc scored in 4 plays to start the game. Scored on their first 3 possession. Why not let some younger kids get some playing time. Lc had 498 yards of offense, i dont think those 300 pound lineman can play both ways all game .

Great job Lawrence County!! Very impressive win.

Congrats to the Dawgs on the victory. Why don't some of you keyboard warriors get off the computer and apply for some coaching positions or volunteer. You all seem to be so much more knowledgeable than the current coaching staff. Heck, I bet if a couple of you all were to take over the team, Belfry wouldn't stand a chance this season.

I listened to the coaches post game show on Boyd county network and the BC coach said that their def line started 3 sophs and a lot of times during the game their defense had the 3 sophs and 4 freshman out of the 11 on defense.

Perhaps there are problems on the football team, or staff, or.....perhaps....a big problem lies in the STANDS?!?!?!?! I hear it every game while sitting in the bleachers....."coach should be doing this....coach should be doing that.....we need a real coach....." Hey, it's probably from you! I don't know who you are, but perhaps so.
Perhaps you should apply for the job? And employ Off-the-Chain as your defensive coordinator? nicker: Neither of you are ever happy with anything. You predicted a beatdown last year against Belfry in the regular season, and this team rose up to the occasion and had them on the ropes. You predict nothing but negatives once the year starts. Before the season, you are real jolly and full up compliments. So, perhaps, your expectations are the problem?
Now, I've had my rant. Either go and support the program or stay the **** home! :moon: This isn't college. These guys are getting paid $100's of thousands of dollars to spend time away from their families. They are doing it for the love of the game and love for their players. Get a grip of what high school athletics is really about. :please:
I stopped reading and started yawning when I got to "the problem is in the stands" The problem is in the stands, why don't you apply for the job bla bla bla same old worn out excuses. I know full well what high school athletics are really about, but at some point the kids deserve to be put in a position to win something. The defense has been the achilles heel of this program for years now and everyone knows it. You don't need to be an NFL coach to see that our defense is undisciplined and have no fundamentals. Those are things that your not born with, but they are taught by coaches. Yes high school sports is about growing up and becoming a man or woman and learning team work and respect for authority, but those kids work their tails of and they want and deserve to go as far as they are willing to work for and their ability will take them. Don't even try to feed people with the "your expectations are way to high" stuff. Go tell those kids that their expectations are way too high because I will guarantee you that every kid on the team wants and expects to win every game. Peoples expectations should be high when the team has the size and athleticism that it has this year. This team should be playing better then this and you know it and every person in that stadium last night knew it. Peoples opinions in the stands about what the coach should be doing has no impact what so ever on this teams poor defensive showing last night and for years and that is just a flat out lame excuse. So you want everyone to lower there expectations and standards.........do you know how bad that sounds? Did you say that out loud before you typed it. That is a flat out cop out for the coaching. Lowering your expectations and standards is something you sometimes do when you have a brand new coach or you graduate a lot of kids on a very good team or you know the cupboard is a little empty but none of those excuses apply in this situation. This team has the talent, size, speed and athleticism to beat any team on their schedule but they don't have the discipline or fundamentals. People are sick of watching talent slip by and people are hungry for this program to be back on top again. It was done here before and it can be done again. The best example would be a team like Belfry. People think they do, but they don't have D1 talent all over the field every year, they may get one here or there but so do we. What Belfry does have is a hard nosed bunch of kids that work hard and they expect to win just like Lawrence County kids. What they do have that we don't is a group of coaches who know exactly what they are doing and know how to take what a kid was born with and make em better and they always put the kids in the absolute best position to win. If you don't think we could ever have a program like Belfry then I'm here to tell you that we already did in the past. You can lower your expectations and settle if you want but not me and I don't think the kids want that either but you can go ask em. Now I've had my rant!

This game showed me that it will be a replica of last year with a severe beat.down by Belfry. Every person that goes to these games can see the issues. Every single person see's the problems except the coaching. It frustrates me to no end when you watch your team's defense get the ball rammed down their throats all game long because your defensive line looks to maybe average 160-180 lbs. You have over a dozen or so massive kids on the sideline that could easily plug those gaps but instead they put kids in the trenches that should be defensive backs or wr's. Our d-line got blown off the ball most of the game and got dragged for 5 yards when they did make contact with BC runners. LC won this game because of the speed on offense and no other reason. I mean no offense to BC or the LC players that were on the d-line in this game because I know they did their best. I don't know which is more ridiculous to me, the fact that we started kids that small in the trenches when that should be our strongest and deepest positions this year or the fact that even after Boyd county pounded it down LC's throat the coaches refused to put anyone else in. It was 4 quarters of this miserable bs. They did put some of the bigs in on goal line after BC ran over the defense all the way down to the goal line. Little late for that when they have 1st and goal on the 1 to worry about it now. Even being up by 20 or so points with a minute or so left and you still refuse to get some different people in the game. Im sorry for the hostility in this post but I will not defend this staff anymore and more than likely I am done coming out and watching this pitiful bs. They always find a way to make everybody they play look good.To start with that your choice then don't come watch. And they wasn't driven of the ball they were in the backfield 85 percent of the night and just didn't follow there keys on a few. But other then that it was BC making plays. And Lawrence held BC scoreless most of the 2nd half until we put our back up in to get him some work. If all you guys want to do is b**** and complain. About LC stay home and don't post Bd complain on here

Yeah they had belfry on the ropes with a lead going into half and for some reason with a few seconds left b4 halftime instead of having a prevent D on the field for the big pass play they had reg d in and got caught for a bomb and let belfry back in at halftime and then came out trying to pound the ball on belfry which EVERYONE knows u cannot do. As far as the Boyd county game, if they wanted to treat it like a scrimmage and rest starters from playing both ways that is fine and I stated that was fine but what makes no f&ckin sense whatsoever is starting a bunch of smaller kids on the d line when you have a ton of bigger bodied young kids on the bench that never get to even sniff the damn field. You wanna rest starters? Get a big lead and put in reserves and get them some experience. Or I guess get those 2 or 3 special freshman your so in love with and let them play over everybody else. Go ahead and continue to pat yourselves on the backs for pulling away from a team that shouldn't have been able to play against your jv. Wonder why we have no district championships? Any respect from anyone outside of LC? Any sort of signature win or any wins at all against teams your not predicted to blow out? The reason must be because of those few negative people in the stands that won't blow smoke up people's asses because they managed to beat Boyd county. I think I will stay home when they play raceland and belfry so I can assure victory for LC. BTW...you think it is just a few fans that feel that way? you are kidding yourself pal....there are many fans, parents, players. But hey ...if that butt hurts ya then do a better job...or maybe you get the **** out. How bout that?

Sorry but I do feel that if I have a complaint then I have the right on here to voice it. Or is this site strictly about telling people how they crap excellence? When I see positive things I talk about them, when I see negative things I talk about them as well and yeah the d-line did get their asses whipped that game by Boyd County. Does that make me a bag guy for saying so? seems that it does but it doesn't change the fact that it happened. I will refrain from any negativity in the future though because I know it is useless in thinking anything will be different from year to year. To anyone that seems to be butt hurt ....coaches or maybe a few of you are parents I really don't know. Nothing was meant as a personal attack but the problems we have are the same ones we always have and they never get corrected. Now you can place blame on the kids if it makes ya feel better but year in and year out there are different kids but the coaching and the results are the same. Take that however you need to I guess.

Here is my entire point. You keep seeing these problems year in and year out with the team but apparently aren't doing anything to fix them. So, instead of getting on the internet and bitching about it why don't you become a coach and fix these problems. Apply for a coaching position or volunteer. Getting on here and bitching isn't helping the team or program at all. Become part of the solution.

Getting on here and talking about my team being the greatest ever and being perfectly content with the team playing sloppy won't help either....or does it? Like I stated earlier....no more negativity from me. Will be perfectly fine watching Belfry win district again and we can hang our hats on beating below .500 teams in the reg season. As far as me becoming a coach....they seem to have one for every 3 players so I guess that is covered. :Cheerlead  :1:

Matter of fact...I will even 1 up myself and just stop posting my horrible negativity on here....no more people will have to suffer thru it and without the negativity in the stands LC is assured at least a few more wins and possibly hold sheldon clark to under 35 points. Enjoyed my time on here....everyone have a great one.

And BTW you will never see LC succeed until it gets another Coach like Coach Chuke Williams. I know Allen has had to learn more from him than whats when on the last couple years. And no disrespect to Coach Cecil or to Allen. I would say right to them. You got to have that intensity that Chuke brought and Made You Have. All I know is somebody called somebody a S*B lol I shouldn't laugh but that right there is funny.

Look I'm 37 years old and I've been fallowing Lawrence County football since I was a kid. I never say negative things about a kid and I never say negative things in the stands either. This is a place to talk about sports good or bad. I also never get personal about my complaints with coaching. I'm sure that every coach on this team is a fine person but that don't make them a good football coach either. People want to think that we live in this cushy perfect world where every coach is created equal and they are all qualified and the right person for the job. People never want to ask "hey is this the right guy for this job", or "is this the guy to take this program to the next level". People always want to make excuses like we just don't have the horses or no one can win at that school but I have seen it time and again where an old coaching staff goes out and a new one comes in and completely lift up the program. Heck this has happened more then once right here in Lawrence County. I don't claim to be a coach but I have been around enough football and know enough about it in my 37 years to know good, solid, fundamentally sound football when I see it and I ain't seen it in Lawrence County in a while and if some of you can't admit that I just don't know what to say. I see it and I've had posters from other schools and even a few folks on here who are pretty close to some teams who have discussed in personal messages about things they see that need to be cleaned up with our teams. Some pretty smart football people have seen it who are smarter about this game then me and every poster on this thread put together so I think I'll go with what they say. Just in case some of you didn't know we have a few pretty successful coaches on BGR who post pretty regular. At the end of the day I love Bulldog football and I'm very passionate about this game at all levels. I will always support the kids on the teams and I am always at the games clapping and screaming my head off.
