They play SF. Congrats to Paintsville on a hard fought victory. The Tigers are Rollin!

Big win for the Tigers.

I was at the game who wouldnt be if they had the chance. BCF4L I don't know what game you were watching IF you were there. And if you listen to it on the radio it didnt matter one was a paintsville station and the other (the Prestonsburg station) sends his kids to Paintsville. The two players that intentionally fouled Michael Stephens went with such force that they could of only had one thing in mind and that was to put him out of the game. A foul that hard and the player should be ejected. And one of the ref's, and I hate saying this so bad, but in regulation Leslie really had two Paintsville players hanging on his arms and still made the shot but NO foul! The game should have been over in regulation. I'll take a breath and be back.

Alright I was at the game and I think that the last two fouls on Leslie were possibly the worst calls I have ever seen in a high school basketball game. This crew was horrible. The overturned call under the basket may have been right, I'm not sure because I couldn't tell from my angle, but the ref that had the angle on the call made his call then Webb runs in from half court and overturns it. They need to be able to make the correct call in crunch time or they shouldn't be refs. Anyways, thank you to both teams, it was one of the best basketball games I have watched in a long time. Hats off to Paintsville, they are incredibles shooters.
Prestonsburg keep your heads up, you played an awesome game.

I think they have the toughest job around.I really don't understand you. You could not have been at the game. Stephens didnt take the ball to the hole and miss, unless he was fouled or mugged. and he made all but one free throw. The shot's Mcgurie missed were rebounded by Leslie or Barnett and put back in. I really question your eyesite.
Leslie fouling out hurt us bad, but not as bad as McGuire missing 2 wide open lay-ups in the 4th and Michael Stephens doing the same. All were within about 2 minutes of one another. Prestonsburg blew this one themselves. Couldn't hit big freethrows nor layups. If you're going to be a big team then you gotta have big players to step up and make the big plays and that just isn't happening in Prestonsburg right now. Also thought that Herrick should have been benched because of his lack of quickness. Numerous times his player would drive down the lane and break the D down for an easy shot. Bobby Hughes (just a freshman might I add) had around 16-18 points. Great game for him. Doesn't get the playing time he deserves but you can expect that from a team with the coach they have. Oh well great game by both teams and it was everything I thought it was going to be.

I was also at the game sitting on the floor and i personally saw a couple of calls that were questionable but hey i'm not a ref and i'm not going to blame the game on the refs cept for the fact that whenever paintsville's player runs from half court and fouls a prestonsburg player harder that some football hits i've seen in a while but hats off to paintsville for a hard fought win they really never gave up but i wish that prestonsburg could get a new set of officals calling their games they've had the same officals every game they have played but i don't make the rules i'm just a fan but i'd like to see a change but good game to both teams one of the best games i've saw in a long time enjoy to watch.

Congrats Paintsville
02-22-2006, 01:03 AM
And ya, P'burg lost Leslie to 5 fouls, Herrick 5 fouls, Mcguire 5 fouls, Paintsville lost Grim I think. And yes the effort of both teams was great. Had it been a fair called game I would have said it was the best game I had seen in years. I would hate to be a team and claim a "W" that way. And I don't follow any team regularly. Paintsville has a good team and so does Prestonsburg. MOST of Paintsvilles players can be proud of they're play tonight. And Prestonsburg, let it add fuel to your fire because you played good enough to win.

Best game ive seen this year...paintsville has some great shooters and they hit the free throws ALL NIGHT...congrats to pburg though on a HARD fought game...first one of those we've seen in a while...brooks herrick played great tonight, he hit some shots and play very good defense...he was in the mix all over the floor...i dont even want to mention anything bout refs but there were some questionable calls...maybe if some of the pburg players didnt foul out when they were ahead in that first OT, then this game would have gone to the blackcats. I just wish refs would never be a factor in a game! Tough to win at that place

(Just kidding)
After watching both teams P'ville is better, but P'burg matches up with them well. I'm sure it was a dandy game. Don't want to say refs won/or lost the game, but it does make for an interesting thread.

I would like to start off saying I'm so proud of my Blackcats, they played with a lot of heart tonight.
For the refs? well no game is perfect a few calls that i thought were pretty bad. But bitching about it won't change anything.
To the loyal Blackcats that post on here, glad you guys aren't talking a lot of smack to Paintsville, but lets not turn on eachother, ever member no matter if they where at the game or not, is entitled to their oppinion.
But once again great job tonight Blackcats, You made the Burg Smile Tonight!

Good game for both teams. As for the intentional call, the players should have been thrown out of the game. I was standing right in the action of it, Stephens was basically double-teamed and knocked to the ground, I'm suprised he didn't break an arm or something!!!
Landon was trying to take a charge, Bundy was the one who undercut Stephens. And yes, Bundy probably should have been thrown out for that, retaliation, second one always gets caught.

I know which one that started from half court and drilled him.

Bundy got the foul, but a couple people on here are saying that both players that fouled Stephens should have been fouled cause "they" tried to hurt him, that was not case with Landon.

J/W how could they of made the burg smile tonight...they got beat a loss is a loss and a win is a win.. if my team got beat by 1 or 50 i sure in the hell aint gonna be smilin about it

I would like to start off by saying, wow, what a game. Definately one of the best i've seen. Congrats to both teams you all played your hearts out tonight, and left everything you had out on the court. And as for the refs, they were horrible, the last 2 fouls called on leslie were the worst calls ive ever seen. And no one should say the refs were fair because they weren't. Pburg had 3 players foul out(leslie, herrick, mcguire) and pville had 1(grimm). And yes i agree that bundy should have been thrown out of the game, there was no attempt whatsoever to hit the ball, he simply went after stephens. But can't completely blame the game on the refs, hughes missed 2 big free throws in the first ot that couldve iced the game, and barnett was basically non-existant in the second ot. But nonetheless the refs were horrible, and were a big reason the blackcats lost this game. But here are some of Pburgs stats......
M.Stephens 7 pts
B.Herrick 6 pts, 3 rebs
L.Barnette 26 pts, 4 rebs
N.Mcguire 7 pts, 2 rebs
S.Leslie 28 pts(game high), 6 rebs
B. Hughes 13 pts
M.Stephens 7 pts
B.Herrick 6 pts, 3 rebs
L.Barnette 26 pts, 4 rebs
N.Mcguire 7 pts, 2 rebs
S.Leslie 28 pts(game high), 6 rebs
B. Hughes 13 pts

Well then fanatic of the 15th, you obviously have no school spirit, and you obviously didn't see the game tonight.
So basically what your saying is that if your team got beat in the state finals by 1 point you couldn't smile at them and tell them they did a good job? If thats true then you sir, have no heart whatsoever.

Landon was just trying to take a charge, Bundy came running from half court and undercut Stephens.

Becuase win or lose here in Prestonsburg when our boys play like they did tonight, with all there heart, thats something to be proud of.
It's not win or lose, its how you play the game.
ever heard that?

I also am very proud of the Blackcats play and conduct tonight. It could have been a replay of years gone by and P'burg and Pville wouldnt play regular season
games again for a long time.

Great game tonight. AWESOME! I love games like that! As for the fouls. Yes P-Burg had three foul out. But, don't fail to mention that Pugh, VanHoose and Williams had 4 fouls each. Slone had 3 and Bundy had 3 or 4 himself. So don't act like the Tigers had no fouls on them. I do like the fact that towards the end of the game fans were yelling at Bundy to give the ball to Slone. But, Bundy kept it in his hands because he wanted it in his hands and he stepped up and made the free throws. When a kid is playing the he was tonight, why not leave it in his hands? Yeah the foul he commited was very hard. But, he is one hell of an intense player. That is the team that the Tigers need when it comes tourney time. P-Burg keep your heads up. You guys are heck of a team.

First of all I was at the game, congrats to Paintsville, they played a great game. It was so good to see Pburg take them to the wire on thier home court. This statement I am going to make is not meant to take anything away from Paintsville, they won pure and simple. But Johnny Webb is the worst official I have ever seen, and a jerk to boot! He single handley took Sean Leslie out of this game. I hope he is proud of himself, He made two terrible calls on Sean. He should look at the replay and judge himself. Other bad calls were made-both ways, we should expect that, but Johnny, you should surrender your whistle, you are a disgrace. Again, Paintsville, dont be offended at this post. You won the game and played great.
02-22-2006, 02:53 AM
Wow this is going to make for an exciting district and region. If both teams play as well and hard as they did tonight then it could get interesting. I thought both teams played their hearts out. This is one of those games where they left it all on the court.
