Raceland 2015
anotherfootballnut Wrote:It went ok , nothing spectacular it was the last practice at the end of a long week for the boys and it showed imo

Most of the time its nothing more than that. I was just curius as to how the effort was. From a coaching standpoint, and imo, mistakes are inevitable. But I can over look a missed assignment here and there, a back hitting the wrong hole, a QB throws a bad pass, as long as the effort is there. Better to make a mistake going fast, then shake it off and make up for it, than to make one going slow and then sulking over it. Next week is the first time the kids will see another opponents colors across from them instead of their own, hard to tell alot from scrimmage/grid games, but i think u can tell alot about a teams character in games that essentially mean nothing.
Didn't see any “sulking " honestly I think they looked fine a little tired but understandable so
Glad to hear that AFN! Lookin foward to the grid next sat.
Raceland and paintsville
^region belongs to one of them, idk of anyone else who could challenge them for it.

Pjdoug your record would be 0-2 picking against Raceland and Painstsville. Confusednicker:

That is yet to be seen. I'm trying to wake a few Raceland fans up:biggrin:
PJ-teachmehowto-Dougie is kind of like Frank Kastsnza. At the festivus gathering. He waits for the exact moment for his "Airing of Grievences"...just sort of lays dormant, until he sees the right poster, then begins his erronious assult of "my dad can whip ur dad". Gotta say though, i like it. If not for himself, 64, and a few others throwing random crap around these threads would get stagnent and boring. In other news...HOLY CRAP 64 picked Raceland for something lol
I'm not understanding all the hype for Paintsville this year. Paintsville hasn't come close to Raceland in recent history. I do think this year's Raceland team will not be quite as good as last year's team primarily due to the loss of Messer, a player that other team's had to key on. You just don't replace his athleticism. However, is that drop off enough to allow Paintsville to contend with them? I don't think so. Paintsville lost two pretty good athletes as well in Belcher and Hendricks. IMO, Raceland is still the overwhelming favorite in the east. The only reason they didn't make it to BG last year was that Williamsburg had a senior heavy great team.

That is my argument as well. Paintsville will have an experienced line, a pretty good receiver in Trimble, they get Kent Phelps back who was a 1500 yard rusher in his freshman year, and they have Kash. BUT, Raceland will return their entire front 7, their entire backfield, a DB that saw plenty of time steps in at CB in Austin Howard and Nathaniel Davidson will be taking the vacated safety spot left my Messer and John Cherry will take the other CB spot if I am not mistaken. So from a defensive standpoint, we will be more physical upfront, more physical in the secondary and a little faster at one CB position. Our defense will be better this year than last year. I don't know if Paintsville has closed the gap enough yet or not. They are the only team though, that I see having enough to knock us out of a 3rd regional title and shot at BG.

Offensively, again, we return all but one lineman that is being replaced by a kid who is quicker and just as, if not stronger, who had a pretty good camp in Caden Townsend. Have our entire backfield back, Nathaniel Davidson has started on both Def and saw a lot of time on the offensive side of the ball at RB, he had a really good camp, and looks to be settled in at his newly found QB position.

You don't replace a Connor Messer, he is a once in a decade type of kid. But what you can do, is fill that void with a handful of guys who can get the job done. We have all the pieces there to be better this year than last year. We have a large amount of depth on the line, at RB, and a LB. So we should be able to be pretty fresh. We also have 60 kids out this year, so that only adds to the depth with a very capable FROSH class, that has some really nice skill guys that aren't far away from being factors in the rotation as well.

I wouldn't go as far as overwhelming favorites but I agree on Paintsville.teams such as Pikeville,Williamsburg and Hazard are more to be worried about than Paintsville. also,Williamsburg ain't done yet. They lost a lot of seniors, but they are an experienced football team.look at all the playing time their underclassmen got last year. I still think Pikeville is the most dangerous team this year though.

Your defense was stout last year.if it is better this year, Raceland for sure has a shot at winning the east ,but it will be a rough road.

Those two wide open dropped TD's would have made it a Paintsville win in the regional but they lost and that's the bottom line. Should be fun to watch this year though

Lets not start this into a pissing contest. Banter is one thing, as pj and 64 and myself will do. But lets keep this crap civil please. Hate seeing threads get jacked by "my daddy can whip ur daddy" crap.

I dont think anyone has an easy path. Raceland or Paintsville should make it to the semis. The other region will be a dog fight snd the semi match up should be incredible. No matter what two make it there.

My whole life I grew up hearing the older folks in Leslie County saying if aunt Molly had balls she would be uncle Molly. :truestory: All in fun just remember it's football season good luck paintsville.....I mean Graceland. :lmao:
Wow the Raceland thread is picking up with lot of this and that. Bottom line here is its a new year and everyone starts over. Yes some teams return more than others but don't assume that a team last year will be as good because a lot of factors will play.

Raceland lost some very good players but I still have them on top in the east with what they return.

Paintsville did what teams should do and that was get better each week. A few players are back so I have them in line next.

Pikeville would be next but I'm still concerned on how there passing game will be if they are having trouble establishing the run.

Hazard is in the same boat but they don't have another Brandon Jones type running back coming but they do have Corey Smith who transferred from Perry Central and a few other young backs to fill the void.

Then there is Williamsburg who no one is expecting to be as good including myself because they lost so much. So there in a complete overhaul mode but they hope there defense is just as good to keep them in games until the offense comes around..

But back to the Topic Raceland has an excellent shot at achieving every teams goal and that's a state title.
I think there are so many variables with everyone in the east. Everybody lost some key pieces, major playmakers, and leadership. But, Raceland returns their front 5 and backfield offensively and the entire front seven defensively, arguably the foundation of any team. Nathaniel had a really good camp at QB and is looking very comfortable as the starter and while we dont have a Messer, we have several capable WRs and DBs. Goina be a good year. How good? Remains to be seen.

if everybody keeps underestimating Williamsburg.they will be back in Bowling Green while everybody is stunned and listening to the radio with their mouths open Confusednicker: ...Williamsburg is not being completely over hauled. They are experienced.
