Where are all the coaches that don't make mistakes? Hmm, they must be behind the computer screen.
Granted, Chatlin is a good player but he isn't irreplaceable, as for the others that are not there anymore. Pburg Lost Chatlin but gained Wes Hager. You dont need a qb when you are going to run the ball, so I think pburg isn't worried too much about arm strength this year.:1:

You got to have a balanced a offense if you wanna win games. Unless that running game is just so dominant and o line is so dominant.... Maybe against the young laynes of Betsy but against Pikeville you better come with some balance and keep em guessing instead of Frasure up the middle ..3 out 4 downs. Pburgs run game against hazard last year was awesome and Frasure was at his best I've seen that game but that's not going to happen every game. Their record will show they've lost a lot that just hager can't make up for. Maybe they got some others step up and pull out six wins... Time will tell but I'm gonna say the loss of Jarrell boys is too much Pikeville by 3 tds.

I like Chadrick's enthusiasm. But this early in the season I will be happy to see good conditioning, an injury free game, and defensive cohesiveness. The O will gell, I want to see us stay aggressive and fly to the ball on D against Prestonsburg. We do that, I don't care about the beginning of the season as much as I do about the end. Talent and pieces are there to have another outstanding year. Keeping my fingers crossed that we stay focused.

Yes. Imo, Talent and pieces are there to get it done. However, what is equally important for this season is the FOCUS.

Could someone PM me on how practice is going? Who is lining up where etc.? I still have not been able to attend one yet.

Would love to hear a oneijoe breakdown of the scenarios where each team has their best chance to win...hope he is still around...Hard to believe neither Pugh of Pikeville nor Frasure of Prestonsburg rushed for over 100 yards or scored a touchdown in this matchup last year. Surely both teams will be relying on those guys to pull out a win this year. Dogfight, tossup.:truestory:

Note: The thread title gives the date as 8/22, I thought this game was on Friday night the 21st.
( KHSAA has 21st) Just saying because it may affect travel plans for some.

I completely agree.
My only concern with Prestonsburg is who will be filling the holes on the line due to graduation. Can anyone fill me in?

Well Jordan Ray & Dustin Moore return to anchor the OL but as far as the other 3 spots ????? I'll know a little more in the next few days.

IMO, the difference between Prestonsburg going 3-7 and going 6-4, is Dalton Frasure. Take Frasure out of the line up and put an average back in his place, and you are looking at a 3-7 record. He is that good, and overall, the Blackcats are that down this year. Frasure is a beast, and as I have said before, he is capable of beating some of the lower tier teams by himself. I hope he can stay healthy, because he is going to be getting handling the bulk of the load.

I agree Cat Daddy. That is why I have been trying to get some info about the OL this year. We only return 1 starter in Jordan Ray, but no one else really seen any significant playing time.
I wish someone would post or send me a PM on how the line is looking, and who is lined up where.

Very impressed with how well Prestonsburg looked tonight!!! We may have a great game to watch Friday!!!

Watched Pburg at Letcher tonight from what I saw I would imagine Pikeville wins this one big !I have much knowledge of Letcher and with Letcher rotating alot of players with starters in P burg was dominated up front.LCC much better team as of right now! Not going to let cat out of bag but I don't really think LCC ran what I think will be their most effective offensive set!Williams from LCC 1st carry 70 yard TD untouched ,he probably carried the ball 7 times for around 120 + yards!Pikeville will win this one in a guess 35 to 20!

According to touchdownkentucky and getting to watch Pikeville against Breathitt I will have to say Pikeville big. Talking to some panther fans at the prestonsburg game Pikeville will be able to run and pass at will against Prestonsburg. They said the LCC RB ran all oer them and the their WR ran by Prestonsburgs DB's all night. I was hoping I was wrong and this would be one of those slobber knockers like the last 2 years. From what I am hearing Jarrell and Pugh will do what they want against the secondary and Linebackers. Prestonsburg evidently is a young football team and Pikeville is experienced. Soemone wanted a report so here is the scouting report from a few friends that I talked to. Pikeville has a better Offensive and D line and much bigger. Only got to see the Frasure kid play 2 times last year but after seeing what Pugh did against Breathitt (people may disagree and that is ok) there is no comparison between Pugh and Frasure. I think Pugh has the upper hand going into this game. I thought last year Frasure ran the ball good but Pugh has worked very hard this off season and his shoulder is fine. Pugh is now playing both sides of the ball so that is huge for the Panthers. Still hope it is a good game but my gut says not this year.

First two plays of the game LCCHS scored on Pburg . After that it was a good game. Pburg came back and score 2 times also and by the end of the game both teams had scored 3 times each. Can't say LCCHS had their JV in either because they where on the other end of the field playing a JV game. Frasure and Pugh are both great players. But Pugh is not anywhere near a level better. Sorry Frasure has worked very hard in the off season too. If Pikeville beats Prestonsburg it will be because their Defense.

Don't let the last two posts fool you. Nice troll attempt though....I heard the opposite, after a fast start by Letcher scoring 2 TD's in their 1st 10 play sequince, the Blackcats won the scrimmage 24-18?? Can anyone confirm this?
08-16-2015, 03:41 AM
Gargamel I was there and PBURG played starters and tried to get something going.LCC rotated alot of players and only ran Williams around 7 times .If Lcc ran Williams like they will in a regular game he probably would score at least 3 or 4 times against that weak PBURG defense,Also with LCC starting d in PBURG first 20 plays that might have gained 2 first downs and around 40 yards!I am not a Pikeville fan but this one could get ugly!
08-16-2015, 04:06 AM
Prestonsburg only ran Frasure a few times and you know he will run more in the regular season and Prestonsburg didn't pass much. To be honest the Hager kid is really good and I can see them passing more to him in a regular season game. John Derossett will have his boys ready to play so don't count Pburg out just yet!!!

Surprised this one hasn't heated up a little more with game day only 5 days out. I'm really looking forward to this one in a big way!

True. Five days will be here before we know it. When theses two hook up it's always a real battle. Prestonsburg has always had a tough team as far back as I can remember. Blackcats will be ready, but so will the Panthers. I look for a "run fest" between Pugh and Frasure. Both teams will be starting new qbs., so there should be plenty of running between both teams. Imo, the Panthers have the edge in this game though.

I think top to bottom better this year than Pburg, whereas Jarrell at QB made them much more dangerous and you had to respect his game IQ. I think his loss hurts Pburg more than they might want to admit.
