Clay County 2015
#31
i'm soo sorry Darth. Clay County didn't have ONE Coach in the building.

I'm going to assume you know what sport i'm talking about since this is a message board for high school football. Also, Why can't a coach be both a good teacher and coach? First and foremost these guys are teachers. At the most they should get two plannings. No other perk in my eyes.

TIME, anyone that says this does not understand what goes into teaching and coaching, they are not punching a time clock 9-5 type position, you're going to be working from 7 AM - midnight on most days and you're going to be constantly consumed with getting better and have you prepared for every little thing. Teaching and Coaching are full time jobs and a yin and yang so to speak, one is always going to suffer if too much is focused on the other. I am fine with coaches being teachers first, but with that, people should not be on message boards judging something they know nothing about, records shouldn't be kept, coaches should not be fired, etc. If you are great at both you're family life is going to suffer, fact. only so many hours in the day my friend. I am not asking for any perks or extra pay for coaches, but realize what they are doing.

:lmao::1: that may be one of the top 5 statements I've read on this site.

You obviously are not teaching in today's classroom and having to run a program. :poker face:

Clay should be better this year.
#36
Clay has the talent. As long as the injury bug doesn't bite them, I can see them being 4-6 with the potential of 5-5. This will only happen if those players buy in to their coach and they start working hard. Sometimes, This takes years to do. Hopefully the Tigers can get back on track.

If I were going to be a coach, I would be a gym teacher.. Just saying..
#38
That's a difficult schedule for a rebuilding team........I look for 2-3 wins at the most....but I do think if people will give Combs a chance in a few years Clay will be over 500 and competing in every game.
#39
Is it still a rebuilding year? We have been young for the last few years, seems like we would be out of the rebuilding stage by now. Combs will be alright if the "gurus" stay off his back locally. There is absolutely no excuse for Clay County to be under .500 on a consistent basis.

What's the latest news with the football team? How they looking? Turnout/numbers? Who are the assistants?
#41
Not heard much at all around town, I've heard Jamie and Eugene are back at it on the sidelines, other than that I have no clue. I think it will be a struggle this year from looking at the schedule.

Good luck Tigers

Is Corbin trying to get out of the game with us?

Other way around, from what I hear.

Corbin is bringing big gate money to clay.

The problem may have to do with the other 2 teams in the bowl game. Knox Central and Southwestern are already on Corbin's schedule in 2016, so Corbin would have to play one of them twice in the same season to fulfill the bowl game requirement.
#47
Corbin could just play Clay twice in back to back years. That would solve that problem as far as scheduling goes. I think this game has potential to bring in a huge gate, the atmosphere at the Appalachian Bowl is usually awesome.

Acoording to this " http://hchscov.com/wp-content/uploads/20...e-2015.pdf " Cov. Holy Cross thinks they are playing Clay Co. in the Appalachian Bowl. I have no clue which is correct.
#50
Missing out on a huge gate. There'll be a good crowd but not like Corbin.
#51
Who are the 4 teams

So far it sounds like 5 teams
Clay
Corbin
Knox
Pulaski southwest
Holy cross

Who isn't in the bowl game
