Raceland 2015
anotherfootballnut Wrote:Not obvious at all , no idea what your talking about

its your problem that you cant comprehend plain, easy to understand English.
I expect both Raceland and Russell to be in State Semi-finals again this year, with the Rams competing for their first State Championship in Bowling Green and wouldn't be one bit surprised to be taking in a 2nd Championship Game by watching the neighboring Red Devils.
Two excellent programs with superb coaching staffs only separated by 3 miles. Very bitter rivals on the field, but will break bread together at the dinner table. :yesno:

I remember driving through Winchester about 10 years ago and listening to Russell win the state championship on the radio.

Throw Ashland/Johnson Central in the mix and that would be quite the US 23 Celebration Party
Raceland has an excellent opportunity to get to Bowling Geen. With Mayfieldoving up will have a good shot to bring home the big trophy.

Why are you wasting oxygen?
Raceland has an excellent shot this year. I won't be surprised to see them there.
Hearing good things from the offseason workouts. The defense is seeming to work itself out. A kid that had completely slipped my mind until speaking with a coach this evening is Bryce Wellman. He was injured last year and will be either a jr or sr next year. He will see time at a LB slot. I also saw Frosh Judd Adkins and the Lacks kid this evening, they will be Frosh, but hopefully with the numbers returning from last year, they wont be needed unless injuries are a factor. We will be an extremely tough defense after hearing of some of the changes that have been made in the secondary. Has me less concerned about the holes left from graduation. There will be 10 seniors that return and possibly more if a few of the basketball kids come out and 20 juniors on next years team, with 17 sophomores and a group of 10-15 freshman coming in. Pretty good numbers already and seceral more have said they will be coming out, both atheletes and lineman, but that all remains to be seen. Lookig foward for the next installment of the Rams.
Heard kind of the same thing , apparently they are moving Davidson who started at linebacker last year to safety , which makes sense because he's also one of players who are competing for the qb job , but heard Kane would fill the linebacker spot , but didn't hear that from a coach , a parent told me that so we shall see

I expect to see Davidson or Black at QB. Davidson is more prepared in Regaurds to understanding the offense and being a bit more accurate. Both would be a dual threat QB, but idk if Black has alot of work to do in throwing the ball. The kid has one of the strongest arms that has come through Raceland in a long time, but he has a very loose arm when it comes to mechanics and accuracy. They want Black to sork out bc it would give them a 3 year QB, but Davidson can still give 2 years. I was told that Wellman and Snyder will fill the void left by Nathaniel going to FS. Right now John Cherry and Josh Clark are the corners. We will be hard to run on, but i still worry about coverage at the CB position. Coach Fannin is a good DB coach though. All signs point to a great defense and an offense that will should be able to put up some points and control the clock.

How many returning starters on defense for the Rams?
Raceland is always a threat to win the East. Strong tradition and classy fans.
Raceland returns the entire front 7 the SS and have moved a returning OLB to FS, and moving a previously injured kid back to the OLB as well as Kane Snyder (Raceland leading rusher from a year ago), to rotate at that position.

Offensively, we return all but 2 starting lineman, but replace them with kids who were starting/seeing big minutes by seasons end, filling holes left by graduation on the OL will not be an issue. We also return our entire backfield, but have to replace both WR and the QB.

I have to agree with that statement. 'most" of the fans are some of the classiest I've met.

the defense should be solid for sure and The Rams will be a tough out in the playoffs.
Early schedule will let us see both how good we are early on against Ashland, what kind of depth we have against East and West Carter, and how much we have grown up to week 4 against Greenup Co. The back half of our schedule is pretty tough. Starting with Lawrence Co looking for revenge from last years beat down at the hands of the Rams, then on to two tough SEOH schools in. Port West and Valley, only to cap the season off with the final 2 of the last 3 games on the road against Paintsville and Russell and Fairview at home. We will know what we are made up by week 7 for sure. The last 3 games will tell us what to expect crom that point on.
Went by and watched the team playing around outside today , a lot of talk about some basketball / baseball players coming out for football Only seen one new face. I didn't think any of those kids were going to play , the more kids that play is better but I didnt see any of the kids who were being talked about coming out couldve helped this team , wouldve boosted numbers but that's it

Like i said, i would believe it when i saw it. Have yet to see it. Numbers are good, but only if they cotribute, come one come all, but if its an upper classmen coming out, they should be able to contribute immediately imo.
Who are all the "new kids" on Racelands Bball team? Are they playing football also?
We have a huge Jr class right now with 20 or more players and a good size senior class with 10 or more. The Freshman and Soph classes have good numbers and a good blend of atheletes and lineman that could add some more depth at the skill positions by seasons end. Football is a numbers game, the more kids you have out, the more likely you are to find atheletes. Still some very capable NO SPORT atheletes roaming the halls, would love to see them, as well as a few of those basketball guys come out for football. But right now, we are looking good as far as numbers go.

You cant replace a Connor Messer, he is a once in every 5-10 year type of kid and last years Young never really found that chemistry in another reciever like he seemed to have with Trey Potter, which IMO, really affected us late in the playoffs and against Ironton, losing him was a bigger blow than anyone in ramland thought it would be in retrospect, rather they care to admit it or not. Hopefully, which ever dual threat QB we decide to go with, be it Davidson, Black, or Christian, hopefully they can develop a little bit of consistency in the passing game with Austin Howard, Josh Clark, and John Cherry, I believe that is who will end up getting the reciever jobs unless someone else knows a bit more than me.

If we would have had blance against Wburg last year, we would have been in Bowling Green. The play calling was balanced, but there was nothing there when the throw was on, when the recievers got seperation, the throw was long. (Credit alot of that to Wburg) Unless you are Belfry, you cant live on bread alone and expect to win championships if you cant have a productively balanced offense.

Okay...ive had enough. Is it August yet?
Scotty_Bronson raceland had a good season last year. Williamsburg play raceland without there two best defender...LB Jefferson Patrick 110 tackles and LB Austin Husky 61 tackles. Williamsburg sub LB forced raceland qb to over throw the wr. And again williamsburg play there worst game of the year against raceland. :truestory:

You and Scotty both are wrong , give credit where credit is do , for one chemistry with receivers had nothing to do with Williamsburg beating Raceland and Racelands defense had everything to do with Williamsburg struggle on offense not that they just had a bad game that bs , bottom line is Williamsburg made more plays and the best team won , a lot of plays Happened during the game that could've changed the outcome but didn't , good example of that is the first play of scrimmage for Raceland was a pass to wide open maverick Dixon with great speed went right through his hands if he caught that Raceland goes up 6-0 and who know how the momentum of that play changes the game but guess what ? They didn't make the play and Williamsburg Made enough plays to win and they were the better team

I disagree you have to replace Connor but not with one player , but with multiple players , moving Nathaniel to safety makes the defense more physical , along with Carson at he other safety for coverage . Connor was a great cover safety but not physical at all so you take two players and replace him there , on offense last year connor was used more of a decoy because everyone was keying on him , this year Howard moves into his reviewer spot very fast kid along with John cherry , if Nataniel isn't the qb he will be on offense somewhere probably at receiver , if not I look for Carson to move to receiver again replacing connor with multiple kids , and let's be honest not one of those basketball kids would help at all , they all played in jr high and they didn't like contact at all , which is fine football isn't for everyone and that doesn't mean they are less of a athlete just not football players
