No turf in Pulaski County

I think Pulaski County faced several backs on the year better than Edwards and shut them down.

I think Pulaski faced Edwards once and didn't shut him down in that game.

He seemed to play well the first game.

On that note.. even if you want to discredit the role of Edwards then you have to point out that when he left Southwestern was technically down to their 3rd String HB.

Edwards was doing an admirable job in place of Doan.

For a Southwestern team that was really lacking any real playmakers it is still pretty impressive that using a 3rd string tailback they pushed a healthy Pulaski as far as they could.

23 rushes for 78 yards isnt tearing it up, sorry Edwards is a good HS player but no where close to being as important to his team as Hall was to his, The fact of the matter is Pulaski County is 5A state champions and SW wantsto say they are just as good,:please:

what backs did they face last year that had 1500 yards rushing, besides the graves co kid? I don't know much about Corbin or Somerset but I know who Haddix is and figure he likes to throw it around a little more, and Southwestern had Somersets best running back when Pulaski played them.

Just to go on a little more about Edwards 78 yards rushing the first game, he also had a few big chunks receiving that game as well. Is that burning it up? No, but out gaining an opponent by 37 yards and winning by one score isn't exactly saying the ball game was a blowout even though the score didn't indicate it. Your basis of why Pulaski is so much better is like saying Highlands two years ago wasn't on the same level as Collins because Collins won the 4A state championship. Does Southwestern have the 2014 one? No, but were they just as good? I have to believe so based on the numbers and how well they played in both games regardless of who was playing and who wasn't.

I don't care either way. I am a Somerset guy. But SWHS is just as good as PC. Ever since PC has won the state title their fan base as been an embarassment to the community. Both good programs with a bright futures ahead of them. Just wish the PC fans weren't so frigging annoying. Just admit it guys there are other good programs besides PC and you dont have to get mad and defensive every time someone says a team is just as good as you. Good luck to both teams this year.

I love all the trash talking about who is better between SW and PC but I would love to see some directed towards the people who won't let them fix their football fields. I don't know for sure about the field at SW but I went to a track meet at PC a couple of weeks ago and their field is terrible. I would have honestly rather played in the parking lot. Not fair for the kids at either school. The 3 people responsible for such poor conditions are Dr. Citak ( prick), Randy Emerson (prick), and Brandi Daniels (witch).
#39
Not a game changer? Rushed for more than a thousand yds., not starting till the third or forth game of the season, sharing carries with two other rb's before the transfer of Doan to Somerset. Really? As a Freshmen...Not a game changer! Tough crowd...

If it was already approved 4-1 , why did they need to vote again?

Maybe Steve Kelly can talk Burnside into annexing the two high schools, and have concerts there and pay for the turf with alcohol concession sales.:yikes:

It's too bad that they aren't getting turf but the field conditions at Pulaski are their own fault. When I played there in the early 2000s it wasn't in bad shape. They let it turn into the cow pasture it has become today.

I think the issue is that field should be better. Pulaski County is almost urban compared to some of the schools around the state that have turf.

If Super approved it BOE must be wanting out ha

2 people have let this happen, Richardson and Phelps. They are to busy with their noses in SW's ass to notice the shape of PC's field.

It don't matter to me if this years South Western and PC game is on turf, grass, dirt, or concrete I'm going to be there to see the PC faithful leave crying. You heard it here first South Western wins big 27-7.:Sad04:

My question still stands Jumperdog, other than Crider who did they face that was better? 97 yards of offense is a great performance against one of the top defenses in the state, and when almost a 100 yards of offense is missing from your backfield, it is a game changer. My question wasn't implying that Edwards had 1500 yards rushing it was just asking what backs had done that.

Like I said Edwards is a quality HS back, but Riley Hall is a big time HS QB, "diference maker". The thing that gets me is how all the SW peiople want to say they are just as good as Pulaski County when they have not proved it, they beat pulaski when Hall was down, its alot easier to replace a running back than it is to replace a Qb who runs your whole offense. The last time I checked Pulaski County won the State Championship not SW, correct?
#53
I did acknowledge Pulaski winning the State Championship, however it was proven that they were just as good when the did beat PULASKI COUNTY, and was only out gained by 37 yards the second time. Last I checked this was a team sport, I'm sorry that Hall got hurt, and I'm sorry that they didn't have a backup QB that was just as good, but that is part of being a team and developing depth. If the game had been a two score game, and there was a difference in offense of 80+ yards then I would happily bow down to you. You still have yet to name a running back, or how the game was closer than one score and 37 yards indicated.

According to the KHSAA website Pulaski had 297 total yards and SW 230-so that a little more than 37 my friend, and they don't post special team yardage. My quess is that Pulaski won that battle as well. I just think its a reach for them to think they deserve to be in the conversation with Pulaski County. Are they a quality team yes, have they been to back to back State title games NO! Do they return 19 starters NO! THE END!!!

it is The End for them because Southwestern will beat them like a rented mule this season :truestory:

According to this KHSAA website:
http://scoreboard.12dt.com/scoreboard/ri...4288_21565

258-231

That's only 27 yards difference.

Stop with all this special teams yardage junk as well. Soon you will be counting dropped passes as yards at this rate.

Just call it what it is man... you were off with your bold claim that the gap between Southwestern and Pulaski last year was anything but small.

I will not debate one bit that the best team was Pulaski and they won when it mattered and appear to be the best team once again entering this year. But the fact remains Southwestern gave Pulaski all they wanted both games and just like Hall being injured in the regular season the loss of Edwards and having to use a 3rd string Halfback definitely could have been the difference in an one score game.

There is nothing to suggest Pulaski was head and shoulders better than Southwestern or that the 8 point margin of victory was some fluke.

That's all I was trying to get at. I mean no disrespect to Pulaski they overcame a lot this season to earn the right to be state champs. I hope somerset wins it all because of the doan kid. My friends say the kid is something else on the field and a great kid off the field. With the skilled kids coming back to southwestern it should be a great year. I just hope everybody in town doesn't burn it down having three good teams there. Here's hoping the kids get what they deserve.

You need to join the real world, South Western has more talent, better coaches, a bigger, stronger line of scrimmage, and 1 of the top 5 football traditions in the state. Get over it jumperdogpeter. THE END!!!
