No turf in Pulaski County
#1
Board voted 3-2 against adding turf to both PC and SW fields next season. The money was there but didnt matter. PC field will remain a laughingstock around the state.:insane:

its all about that mud.

Ive never been to either field, but I prefer natural grass.
#4
Well, the more turf being laid down, the more I hear that folks prefer the grass field.

Wonder why they voted not to put down the turf, if the money was available? Lack of funds is usually the number 1 reason to not do something.
#5
I believe that Pulaski wouldn't mind grass, if there was grass on their field. it is dirt and weeds. You would not let your kid go outside and play in a field that looks like this.
#6
Majority of players and coaches prefer turf. It makes your practice easier because it always available. Plus, it helps your community as well. Youth teams can use it without fear of messing it up if the weather is bad. Very shortsighted decision. I'd try rallying some votes and getting new board members in the next election cycle.

If I am the AD of a school with resources to spare, or the Head Booster for an historically strong program looking to make a change..... I am giving Coach Hines a call and fanning the flames a little in hopes I may be able to lure him as my Head Coach down the road.

Read from someone that the hang-up might be letting all other sports (i.e. Soccer, softball, etc) use the facility and it might violate Title IX. Why would they not try to make it a multi-purpose facility???

It's worked well at Boyle since they put in turf. Requires a lot of juggling of schedules but it's worth it IMO.

Multi-purpose facility, is huge selling point.:Thumbs:

As much as I would have liked to see turf at the Reservation, it is almost as enjoyable hearing the frustration coming from PC fans.:lmao:

SW is the laughing stock of Pulaski County right now Jim. Haven't you heard?

Why is South Western a laughing stock? We didn't want turf to begin with, It's PC that has pulled all strings trying to get it.
#14
Laughing stock because they are not getting turf? OR because the field sucks. How did it get in such a shape anyway? Do they not have grass seed in the county?

Poor pjdoug, can never get ahead, Jim old boy you need to learn how to spell Southwestern before you talk about them. Apparently the " South Western" education is top notch especially in the spelling area.

You are the laughing "stock" of Pulaski County.

I'm also curious how Southwestern is the laughing stalk? District champions, region runner-up, split with the 5a state champs last season, returning a lot of players. I would think no one would be laughing the week they play them. I know you have had your beef with them in the past but did you watch any of the games last year?

stalk? Southwestern could likely win their district this season.

I was really confused. I thought it may make more sense that they were following people and laughing at them then it would if people were the ones laughing at them.

To each there own, but I will say this having a turf field helps more than just football!!! It really does help an entire athletic department. Turf fields can be trained on year around, I know my kid ran track and workout days that's what they ran on instead of the track to help knees and ankles take a beating. The baseball team used it on early season practices when the baseball field was soaking wet and could be stepped on if nothing more than throwing or drill work. It certainly helps football but having a turf field helps out all sports and I'm sure it has more uses than I just mentioned. Pulaski schools have pretty decent facilities from what little I have seen but this would have put their county teams over the top.

Southwestern was much improved from what I got to see, but lets not forget, they beat Pulaski county when Riley hall was out, the regional championship game was @ Sw I believe and Halls first game back and still not 100%, I happened to be at that game and it wasnt as close as the score. Pulaski county also returns all most everyone from their State Championship team including Hall. I dont think Sw is in Pulaski Countys class just yet.

it was also the first season for coach Larry French at Southwestern. The Warriors will be much improved and dangerous this coming season.

To play Devil's Advocate Pulaski beat Southwestern when the Warriors were without their best player as well.

Edwards was injured in the rematch and left the game after only two carries.

^ I agree EKU, I don't get the whole not as close as it appeared. It was tied at half, with Southwestern missing a field goal with time running out. According to the KHSAA Pulaski only out gained Southwestern by 37 total yards. A missed extra point kept the score from being tied 17 to 17 in the fourth quarter. Pulaski scored with less then two minutes to go up 8. If that's not being in the same class as an opponent I'm not sure what is. Comparison of scores (which I know is a sin but) take out the early corbin game last year and common opponents are fairly similar. Not to mention what EKUAlum said about Edwards.

Edwards is a good HS back but not a game changer, Hall is-- and mark my word SW wont get within two touchdowns this year.
