Paintsville 92 - Johnson Central 68
#91
"TERMINATOR X" Wrote:im friends with a lot of people from both schools, and luck has nothing to do with central getting their asses kicked by 20 in the first quarter.

You know what, Mr. Slone, JC knows that they didn't play their best in that game. I haven't seen one of them get on here and complain about Paintsville cheating or about how the refs screwed them out of a game. (Even though in my opinion they would have every right to do but I'll keep that to myself). Can't you just get on here and say good job for your team and stop putting down the JC's team? Can't you just let bygones be bygones?

Paintsville played a very tough game and they were hitting everything that they put up...at one point I thought they could have farted one in. They played tough defense and their offense was really good. They came in ready to avenge the loss they had earlier at home to JC. Nice job by the players all around.

But don't count on winning the District easily, Tigers....

JC will bounce back just like they have before and they are gonna fight tooth and nail for that District Tournament Championship.

Go EAGLES!!!!

Yeah that's why JC beat them in districts last seasonConfusederved: .

Listen moose, im talkin about this season, not last. So u can get over last saeson and just live with it. Paintsville will go far, they always do. So just live with it man. Last years district was then and this is now idiot.Confusederved:

INT is right. Let's see if I recall JC won the district tournament, made it farther than Paintsville in region, JC has won the last two Apple Bowls by a combined score of 98-12 (and Paintsville won't win the Apple Bowl for the next 3 years at least)...That my friend is a complete turn around and Paintsville hasn't quite grasped the concept of being second to JC. JC also year in and year out has had better academics than Paintsville

JC has proven they can beat Paintsville and if it comes down to JC and Paintsville in the district or regional championship...I'd put my money on JC

Everyone knows that test scores can be made to look good by any school. Johnson Central is a fine institution of learning, but to say that their academics is better than Paintsville year in and year out is a rediculous statement.
if it is so....then when most students that leave JC for PHS, and then transfer back, their parents say that they loved the school but just couldn't make the grades, so they had to go back to Johnson Central?? That is not a dig on JC, just what three different parents have told me. JC has great academics, but don't become to dislodged from reality.

Can you not have an intelligent conversation without calling people names? In just about every post I have read by you you are calling someone a name. Try having a conversation without the name calling. You never know you might just like it.

Let's grow up, talk about this game and the upcoming games such as the tournaments. Totally ridiculous. Sad part is it's not just kids and not just one sided.

"Imnottelling" Wrote:Oh no definitely not jealousy. People just don't like the way Paintsville snubs their noses at everyone. They think that just because they are a city school they are better than everyone else. I personally wouldn't want to go to school with a bunch of snobs. It may be jealousy on some people's parts but not mine. Give me down to earth kids who treat everyone as a friend as opposed to kids who think their butts are made of gold just because daddy has money anyday.

Proud to be a "Greaser"!

Let's practice what we preach there INT. LOL!!

If you are going to confront someone about callin names, Make sure that you aren't doing the same thing first!
Hey Big Ben #7, I wanna talk about basketball, not football or academics, basketball. Paintsville is good, and people wont stop talkin about last year. Yeah, JC won, get over it, thats past, this is now, not last year.
"Eagle Eye" Wrote:Have to disagree.....I am very familiar with both schools. I have family at both schools and it is taught from Kindergarten at Paintsville that they are superior in every aspect when it comes to "the other school". Not everyone buys into it, but it has been that way for years. I have always felt that Johnson County students have just always been on the defense. Now I believe things have turned around academically and athletically and Paintsville is having a hard time accepting it.

My wife and I both must have missed the superiority class when we went to Kindergarten at Paintsville. I'm also pretty sure it wasn't taught at Lawrence County in high school either.

"The Guru" Wrote:Has JC's press worked at all this year?
I have seen them play a half dozen games and not in any has the press been effective.
What was it again that they named it????? "GOLD FLUSH" or something??
And I have no idea what you could have seen that would make you think that Paintsville couldn't handle a press!!! A whole lot better teams have called off their non named presses against Paintsville this year.

I dont know.. that was the first time i saw either team play, but by the hype they have on here i was expecting something different..

The press obviously wasn't working, P'ville ran all over it. But if not for sloppy ball handling, this game could have been blown out of the gym by p'ville.. although J.C. didn't do much better, but the biggest surprise to me was the Vanhoose kid.. Everyone talks about Slone, McCarty, Lowe, the Johnson's, and they are all guards, but this was the only kid that impressed me.. From what I saw he could pass and shoot.. He seemed a little slow at times, but overall I think i would rather have him on my team than most of the others.. and from what I saw Grimm is also a hustler
"JKWON33" Wrote:Maybe it's because they don't like Coach Runyon, maybe it's the fact that they are the team from the 15th Region with probably the most success at the Sweet 16, maybe it's their State Championship (which they should have three), or maybe the fact that they compete year in and year out for a district/regional title. Sounds like a little jealousy to me.

Trust me it is not jealousy. It is the way they make up their teams that have had sucess. A good portion of their CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS, were so-called "Greasers" in their earlier years. They seem to have found their ways to the all mighty Tigerville by using the "SIDELINES" of the area!Confusedecret:

I admit, past perceptions JC has lagged behind in athletics and academics. But with the guidance of great leaders as Big "O" and Steve Trimble, and the new coaches like Starns, Matney, Hall, McCool and the continuing presence of Wireman on the sidelines, some Tiger faithful, not all, are having a tuff time dealing with it.:welcome:

Only one that comes to mind about transferring is Craig Ratliff. He done that in middle school or freshman year in high school. I wouldn't go as far as calling Trimble a great leader, he lives and breathes to beat Paintsville. Honestly, my playing days are over and I support both teams, I think there is jealousy among JC towards PHS for their success being such a small school. However, some people need to realize that these two schools are representing the whole county and eastern KY well. I think they need to support both schools except when they are on the playing grounds, they don't need to hate one another but appreciate the good competition, pat one another on the back and move on. PHS will always be PHS and JC will always be JC, sure they are on the upswing in many different aspects of their programs and thats something everyone needs to take pride in. 2 quality schools, 2 schools with great athletic teams year in and year out, why is everyone so bitter. Hopefully one day many will be able to look back and appreciate what both schools have done and will continue to do. I think this type of attitude was only displayed once, back in 96 when JC's band went to Rupp and played with PHS's during the state tourney. Hopefully more things like this will continue to happen, but if they keep holding grudges no progress will be made. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the season. Now can we please get off the topic of "should've been and Eagle/Tiger"????

I could name a few more, but I am like you I don't get on here and bash Paintsville. I was only giving reason why most fans of JC are not jealous but mad of the ways things happened in the past. If you read my posts on all forums, I give positive posts on 95% of the PHS forums. i just pick the ones that I see UNDERLYING tones in some posts.
Trust me, Trimble is a great leader. BMR hates JC, so does that mean he isn't a great leader?:nope:
Well considering he isn't the principle/superintendent of the school i see no reason why he isn't. Every time JC beats PHS Trimble goes off like they won the Super Bowl, do you see Sammons or former principal Boyd do that for Paintsville, heck no. The majority of the time Coach Runyon bashed JC was during the pep talk before the game to get his players fired up. Afterwards, he always said congrats on beating a great team, or they were just better than you. That's what he always said when I was there and continues to say that to this day. He has great respect for their program as he does any other in the mountains. I think the Big "O" was the best thing that has happend to all of Johnson Co. he set standards that JC went by and PHS tried to follow in most aspects, it will be hard for anyone to make the progress that he did.

You know what, you are right. I went home last night and was convicted by the Holy Spirit that what I had said on here was wrong. I ask forgiveness and I will strive from this point on to only comment on the game and not the schools represented. I will only strive to only give a "good job" from now on and not say (or type) anything degrading to any of the players. I should have looked when I was pointing the finger at Paintsville and saw the 4 fingers pointing back at myself. I believe that so many of us getting on this board are doing more harm than good for the boys that we say we are supporting...and we all need to step back and realize that these are kids we are talking about here....not professionals. We need to cheer on our team and be positive and encouraging. We need to stop being degrading and hostile with everyone else on here who is getting on to give shout outs to their favorites....no matter how hostile they get with us we should be polite and remember,

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Please forgive....

GO EAGLES!!!! You boys are the greatest and I believe in you!

I wouldn't brag when most of JC's players were seniors and they had to beat the baby tigers on a last second shot, not to mention Paintsville didn't have Pugh last year.
Sounds like Paintsville played great...:redboxer:

I am sorry that you see STEVE Trimble's excitement for his student athletes as being disrespectful to Paintsville's fans. I never seen him act like it was a superbowl win. Can you explain his actions? Did he jump up and down wave at the PHS fans and do something rude towards anyone? I really don't think that he would.
As far as showing class in a loss, can you explain why besides poor sporstmanship would a coach NOT come onto the floor and accept his district tournament RUNnER-UP trophy? Why would a coach let a team leave a bunch of runner-up trophies in another schools locker room for their custodial staff to deal with. I see trying to get a team to not accept 2nd place, but when you do earn a runner up trophy, BE A MAN AND ACCEPT IT! Teach your student athletes Pride and Respect in all fascets of life.

I can vouch for one incident where Trimble was disrespectful, I witnessed him do and say it. He looked at Shane Simpkins when he handed him his all-tourney team trophy, laughed and said "Better luck next year". I thought that was uncalled for and rude. He didn't say anything to me when he handed me my all-tourney team trophy, which was probably a good thing cause I was already as mad as I have EVER been in my entire life.

I agree that should not been said. I wasn't out there to verify this happened, but knowing the competitor in him, he was probably letting him know that the JC fans didn't like they way Simpkins would throw his hands up to the JC side of the court when he scored or when he would turn and yell profanities at the JC fans sitting in the outfield when he would make a great play.
I loved Shane's game. In every sport he played he brought his entire game each and every play. He just had a bad way of expressing himself.
If he handeled himself in the manner you held yourself, (if you are who I think you are) in victory and defeat, he would have been more respected.:thumb:

I never said he was disrespectful, all I said is he shouldn't be acting like that. Here are his actions, his school defeats Paintsville in something. What does he do, first man on the court/field running, smiling, clinching his fists, dry humping the coach, acting like its the greatest thing in the world. All I said is that a man in charge of a school shouldn't do that, act like your age and have a little sense about you and be tasteful in your celebration. Me and Eagle Eye actually had a pretty good conversation on the whole thing, and we both agree on a lot of aspects about how both schools handle themselves. And to your other question, maybe the coach left it up to the players, they earned second, not first. It could've been their decision that if they wanted it then go get it, if it wasn't good enough for them then don't get it. They knew that every year they have the chance to claim that trophy, so why not wait until you get the one you want?? You even said it was fine, they were freshmen and have 3 more cracks at it. Thats the way our coach was at State-Semi's in football. We got dirt rolled at NCC, he gave us our option, we chose to take it, many of the kids wouldn't be back and some of us prolly knew we would never get that far again, so we took it not with pride, but a souviner remembering how far we had come and yet so far from where we wanted to be.
