Because of his Christian beliefs. Long story short, the faculty leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes was unable to attend the group meeting, thus he ended up leading the volunteer prayer gropu.

I have been inspired by Harry Rex Vonner's call to action for Christians. We HAVE to take action - we HAVE to take a stand. Being a Christian does not mean being a doormat.
I have already called the Family Research Council although I'm sure they'll be on it and I will also be in touch with the American Family Association just to make sure. I am also going to call the superintendent's office as well as send an email out.
The number to the office as well as the email to this superintendent are public knowledge via the school's website.

Remember when calling and/or emailing her - whether you get through to her or not - be firm, yet be respectful. Do not curse, etc. Whether you compose a small email or an essay, the most important part is that your voice is heard. We need to take a BIG stand to prevent this from being a common occurrence.

People are wondering why our Nation is in the shape it is in......
God WILL NOT BLESS A GODLESS nation!!!!!
God will bless His people, but not their nation. Go back through the history books and The Bible and do some research. God has never blessed a Godless nation.

I think that the superintendent was wrong to fire the principal, but I have a real issue with any school employee leading a prayer group of students during school hours on government property.
This country has a growing population of Muslims, and those who believe that the principal did nothing wrong, should ask yourselves if you would have a problem with a principal leading an Islamic prayer in a public school. Do you want an atheist teacher leading a club in a discussion denouncing religion?
I don't want government employees and NEA hardliners discussing any religion with the children in my community, and I fear that is where our schools are headed. Schools already waste valuable instruction time indoctrinating our youth with a warped left wing view of the world. I would rather not risk having schools twisting Christianity into something unrecognizable.
If there was an up or down vote to close public schools, I am not sure which way I would vote. Public schools and the socialists who try to run them from DC are as much to blame for the mess that this country finds itself as anything else. They need to be genuinely reformed or closed.

Yes, because with more Christians in our nation there would be no tragedy or suffering. Good call. As for the Principal I agree win what Hoot said in his first two paragraphs above.

I'm with you on the reforming or closure, the more government influence we have seen the more absurd the school environment has become. They are far more concerned with tolerance and rewriting US history than academics.
From the article---
"Last Wednesday, during a volunteer Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting, the Manchester High School principal said he filled in for the organization's leader and read scripture as well as prayed with students in attendance."
Anybody here ever attend a meeting for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes? I wouldn't want the government twisting Christianity into something unrecognizable either, and yet, God did choose man as his agents to get out "the good news." So we're just going to have to trust that He will tend His sheep and get on with it. But, as for FCA, they do a lot of good. The kids or young men and women who choose to attend are heartened by the subject matter and in the way it may be integrated into their personal lives. The end analysis that I have heard is that it cuts down on fights, enhances student performance, and tends to build relationships between class, race and above all, Christ. Principals by in large, are all great fans of the program, as the results always enhance their school environment.
Obviously I am missing something here, what's is the problem with a meeting carved out for Christian Athletes? And further I would ask this; what has changed in our schools from the time we went and today? Regulation, having to endure a behavior modification program deriving of suspicious origins by a fraction of the overall population, who has learned the art of social engineering through legislation and regulation. All the while supposedly being overseen by mindless PTA Barney Fifes and baseless site-based committees.
I've said this before on here and I don't mind a bit to say it again. Tolerance is the last dying virtue of a decadent superpower. Rome declined in a very similar fashion though they did not have the twin quicksilver catalysts of the 24/7 news loop and super computers to exacerbate the situation and keep the accelerator jammed to the floor as does the US. Sadly as with Rome, there are no shortage of cheerleaders lost in euphoric bliss over our demise, and that includes the Al Sharptons and the clueless social engineers, who like the rest of the transformers, must ignore the successes of the recent past or put forth a lie to explain it all away to sell their lies.
My hat goes off to Michael Lehr for his courage. I know it's easy to say and hard to do but, I'd much rather be unemployed with my scruples intact as to remain employed on the grounds that I am willing to prostitute away my beliefs for a paycheck. Thanks for posting this Wide, hopefully there will be a way to make a contribution to Mr Lerh's family.

II Chronicles ch. 7 (KJV)
14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
This is the answer.

Ah yes, the Old Testament comes roaring in with all the answers. I'll be sure to cut out pork, fat, and mixing dairy and meat so that God will save us all. That is if we're going to stick to Old Testament style sin and punishment.

A little piece of advice. Every single generation millions of people come into this world thinking they know better than the writings in the Bible. Who knows maybe a guy who basically just got here is smarter than God and maybe he isn't.
Ever heard of the Golden Rule? It's verse 12. However, it's the two verses that follow which never fail to grab my attention.
Matthew 7:12-14 (KJV)
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Most men are on the broad road and accordingly, the gate they must all crowd through as they come pouring in at the end of this life is wide beyond imagination.
But, for the few who actually take the time to try and understand what they think they believe about this life, and answer the call of their conscience bowing before the King of Kings, (like Pulp Fiction for example) theirs' is that strait gate. Sort of like getting to put on that green blazer at the end of the Master's Tourney, or sitting down in that new tricked out Colorado for the MVP of the Super Bowl. The strait gate which opens into eternal reward compares those two awards like a match against a super nova, no contest.
But before you go slamming Pulp around too much there is one possibility that I'm relatively certain that you have not considered, he's right and you're not.

I'm not declaring a Holy War or anything. I'm just saying that if you or anybody thinks that bad things wouldn't happen to an ALL Christian nation you're a fool. The shape this nation is in has nothing to do with Christianity. And if you or anybody else claim to live and die by the Old Testament you're full of it. But if you can honestly tell me you live and die by Deuteronomy or Leviticus then more power to you I guess.

That's quite an argument. When a Christian stands against the left wing agenda, we'll laugh at him and act like he is a complete moron in lieu of a coherent response.

Well, there is a qualifier to all this that has obviously gotten past you. The law, (The Old Testament), to which the Jew was held bound, was completely fulfilled or paid for, when Christ came to earth in order to live a perfectly sin free life. Ultimately to hang on the cross, giving up His own life to satisfy the requirement of the law upon all men. The day Jesus died was the day the power of the law was broken for man. But, only if that man chooses to bow before God in repentance. If a man chooses to remain on his own, outside of the authority given Jesus to mitigate the sin of men by the Father, his future can only be eternal despair.
Unlike a court case, there is no argument with which man might defend himself before the Living God. Only the shed blood of Jesus Christ washes away man's sin in God's eyes. His Son gave the ultimate sacrifice which again broke the power of the law over those who will accept Him as Lord and Savior.
The litany of laws you alluded to were intended for Jews (only) to live by until the time that the prophesy of the Messiah was fulfilled, up until that day only did the Jew need to live by the law, because the Jew up until that time was looking forward to salvation through the coming of the Lamb of God, God's own Son. Hence, all the sacrifices and yearly burnt offerings and such, kept the true concept of man's ultimate delivery clearly seeded in the minds of every Jew down through the ages. It was literally like a dress rehearsal for a wedding, except it was not optional and happened each year. Absolutely everybody born, or alive after His death, all look backward to the cross and are held to a new standard, and that is as follows. There is only one way to gain eternal life now that He has paid our sin debt and that is to accept and trust fully in the afore mentioned sacrifice of the Lord on your and my behalf. See, Jesus is THE ultimate Mediator. The lawyer who cannot lose His argument as those of us who are saved plead the blood of Christ when we leave this earth.
All of that to make this point, only the litany of the law (as it pertained to the Jew only, such as the deal with pork and as recorded in the Old Testament, was voided by the crucifixion) the rest of it applies fully. And in any event, the verse Pulp quoted is in fact the only hope the US has. Accept that or not, there are only two camps on the matter so, in either case you'll have plenty of company. Problem is as I said, Pulp is right.
No man can earn salvation, nor could any in any way merit salvation. The judgment is not a place to go make an argument for one's self. ONLY one thing happens at the Judgment, and every unhappy person who finds himself there can look forward to only one outcome, Judgment. As to those who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, they are happy because the Judgment no longer applies to them. Their sins are washed away forever by the blood of the Lamb.
Now, to your point about bad things happening to an ALL Christian nation. God protects His people. But, as is abundantly clear within Scripture when His people backslide or turn their backs on Him, and though He will be patient with them for a time. At some point Judgment will fall. The Jew throughout history has suffered various calamity I freely admit. However, each time it happened it was foretold. The people were given opportunity to repent, if they did repent and Scripture is adequately illustrious to that end, God withheld Judgment. However, if time and warning did not turn the Jew, some invading army would sweep through, famine would come, or some other dire straight would befall them. So, if it makes you feel better to deny all of that I completely understand. But, like I have said, God's Word will not return unto Him void. America will pay for her insolence. Declarations of infanticide and acceptance of homosexuality by the SCOTUS notwithstanding.

To give you an update on this, I'm still trying to get directly through to the superintendent. Many times I have called in to receive an answering machine to her secretary's office...which, is to be expected since the phone has probably rang off the hook there in the past week. The one time I did get through to her secretary, she said that surprisingly the superintendent has called everybody back that has asked about the situation. Even she did not know a great deal about it, but if the superintendent doesn't contact me within the next week I will call again. Once I have my conversation with the superintendent, I will send her a follow up e-mail. If she does not contact me back, I will send her an e-mail.
