Pikeville 2015
#61
I think Pikeville beats hazard again this year for 3 in a row. :insane:

Agree. Imo, Blake Charles will be one of those players. Look for him to be bigger and stronger this season. Couple him with Pugh in the backfield and they should be a force.

Plus I think people will be pleasantly surprised with the line play for Pikeville this year. Dont sleep on those guys.
#64
Never will sleep on Pikeville. They are one of the best programs in the mountains.
#65
Any final word on the schedule?
#66
When's the hazard game?

Please, in the name of all that which does not suck, someone confirm Pikeville and Paintsville will play again in the regular season this year.:Cheerlead

any predictions for that game?

The Paintsville game will be interesting. It should give us a good indication of how the two regions stack up with each other, atleast early on in the season. Now, after last year, we know a helluva whole lot can change from the the start of the season to the playoffs. Pikeville was the heavy favorite the first go around last year and delivered in completely dominating fashion. They were the heavy favorite again at home and go popped in the mouth and Paintsville shocked the state, then nearly did it to Raceland but ran out of juice defensively. It will be another great game in a great atmosphere, with Pikeville seeking revenge. Im sure Jet will have his stomach in knots all and possibly begin sputtering by that Friday night lol!

Pikeville will yet again be a good fundamental team, with kids that play with heart and class. Many have mentioned that there are several players as good as Pugh, who are they and who are some of the other names to look for?

Didn't mean to say several as good as Pugh at running back, obviously he will be a beast. Just meant to say Pikeville will have several very good players on the field. Again, not making ANY predictions for '15 but very excited.

Imo, it could be a very good possibility to see upcoming Soph.Evan Rhodes thrown into the mix with Pugh and Charles. This kid is VERY quick, and played like an upperclassman last season when he got his time at some reps.

The game will be at Paintsville.

Big game atmosphere in this one. Playoff type excitement for sure.

Will absolutely be nuts. People will have to get there 2 hours early to park close to the field.
#80
Imagine if Pikeville had Kash Daniels starting at QB and LB with Charles and Pugh in the backfield this year.

Almost happened.

Also look at the 9:06 mark of the video for a glimpse of what Blake Charles will be doing to people....

With the scouts being at the games make it 3 hours early. Confusederiously:

Looking good on that play. His weight lifting comp. numbers are impressive too. That will help him kick it up a notch or two this season.

I'm hoping he can be the type of player for Pikeville that A. Hatfield was for Belfry.

Not saying he won't be as good...but Hatfield was a generational type talent as a FB for Belfry.

Belfry has had some great FB's over the years and Hatfield may go down as the best to play the position in the modern era and he honed his skills over 4 seasons. Part of what made Hatfield so special was his feet.. his ability to get his feet out of tackles and mess of humanity at the LOS is a trait I am not sure I have seen in 20 years of EKY football. You never saw Hatfield getting "tripped up" or tackled by a shoestring.

I could see Charles though having an impact similar to a mix of G Childress from those back to back Championship teams in 03/04 and Tre Willis. Childress was very underrated as a FB and was an exceptional lead blocker and a pretty darn good Linebacker. Willis was just a ball of muscle and a load to bring down with the ability to pop a big one when someone didn't wrap up. Still a pretty lofty comparison for Charles..but with Pugh back there I think he has the ability to really have a huge season.

Same thoughts I had Jp. By just a mere observation of his physique, he does look similar. If he can be just as tough as Hatfield, then that in its self would be a bonus. Jmo.

Just to clarify, I said "same type." He doesn't have to be just as good to be a great player. Like Five-0- said, you can already see similarities. Very good defensive player too. I'll gladly take any combination of the players you mention though and the sky can be the limit for Charles.

^^^
Between Belfry, Pikeville, and Shelby Valley and the talent they have in their backfield I anticipate a LOT of rushing yards and rushing TD's this year.

Think it is going to be the most exciting year for football in EKY in many years, especially in Pike County

^Totally agree!
