What will the burg do without that bunch of boys next year?
03-17-2015, 01:06 PM
Wburg has a solid group returning, another big class (atleast by numbers), will return to try and pick up where they left off in BG. They return a good LB corps and some good RBs. Things are not in despair in Wburg, but the tallent that will be there wont be nearly what it was. Lot of kids saw good minutes last year to gain experience. I look for Williamsburg to be competitve for their region, but I dont see them making a trip back to BG.

The Jackets will not be as bad as some think next year...They have a good chance to win the district, just laying the ground work for some good things to come...

4 games that should be very competitive for the burg. LCA, Somerset,Leslie County and Paintsville.

I like this schedule for Wburg. L.C.A, Mboro, Somerset and Paintsville on the road are intriguing games. They've pretty much scheduled an entire 2A district.
Im glad they were finally able to get Somerset. They should have been playing that one for years, as well as Mboro.

it is an impressive schedule for the Jackets.I'd like to see them replace Ludlow with somebody like Danville

I think this is a very tough schedule and should prepare the Jackets for the Post Season. With that said I could see the jackets losing as many as 8 games or winning as many as 8 games. I think they lose to Somerset and Paintsville and drop 2 more on the way to a 6-4 record.

Ludlow prepares them for a tough road trip.

I am going to miss all those weak schedule comments next year...Its to early for predictions, let me watch a few practices...

I was just trying to be respectful, but if you want my honest opinion the schedule strength is average at best. Paintsville will be a top 5 team in 1A in my opinion this season, but outside of them the rest of the teams will have a lot to prove this year. I look for Somerset to be much improved, but they are coming off a winless season. So if a team that was winless is the second best team on the schedule, than the schedule isn't very strong. However, Williamsburg is going to be way down and in regards of competitiveness the schedule will be tough. So most of the teams on the schedule will be mediocre, but Williamsburg will still struggle to get wins.

Do not under estimate Leslie County this year..

I wasn't necessary talking to you GoBIGblue82. Williamsburg want struggle as bad as you think...Other than LCA I see Williamsburg playing with anyone of them....jmo and that doesn't mean much. 1A Williamsburg 2A Leslie County 3A Corbin 4A Clay County 5A North Laurel. :pondering:

It's all relative.
You're comparing a schedule for a state contender with one for a rebuilding team that lost 12-plus seniors.

we all are aware of the talent the Jackets are losing and for most teams, that would be devistating, but the Jackets have a feeder program that the rest of the athletics around the school should copy off of.. their little league program creates numbers for the football program and this is why they will be fine and again in the mix for a region title. They have major talent with now varsity experience coming back, so look out!!! The juniors have some serious players!!! The Sophemores and Freshman are FOOTBALL players!! Just Watch!!!

Williamsburg loses 8 Corbin kids from their 2 middles school state championship teams, the best athlete in Harlan County (Massey) and probably eastern ky, lost Sizemore the year before that . The majority of the seniors on this team was from other schools other than Williamsburg, hell how long have you all had that great feeder program, no regional titles, or state championship games in the history of the high school till 2013 when these transfers started showing up and taught you how to get over the hump and become winners.:eyeroll:

I would say a lot of them came for opportunity to play, most didn't want to play for coach Jewell. The Patrick boys lived down there and decided to stay close to home and it became a snowball effect. What brought you to Williamsburg?

To be honest I uses to follow 1A Hazard until my cousin son transfer to Williamsburg from Letcher County.....Now I am a big orange fan for life in 1A. Plus now my cousin other son is playing for 3A corbin. I am now a corbin fan and Williamsburg fan.let's just say I became a snowball effect also....Go 1A Williamsburg,3A Corbin,2A Leslie County,4A Clay County and 5A North Laurel. :Cheerlead

My real queation is how does Wburg replace Massey and Griffiths combined 36 rushing TDs, Griffiths 43 Passing tds, Lowries 12 rec Tds and Sheltons 19 rec tds. I know other kids got time in games and shouldbe prepared to step up, but the returning players numbers just arent there. I believe the next rb up only had 5 or 6 tds and same for the back up QBs. Thats alot to replace. I think Herron will have kids ready, but this was a team full of a senior class of kids that only come around every 5-10 years. Griffith, Massey, Shelton, Lowrie and that line were incredible players. Classes/Teams like that dont come along too often. Especially on 1A ball. Herron is a great coach, but alot of their success the last two years, simply lays in the hands of the atheletes Wburg had.

So you are kin to the Sizemore's, Sure glad Cameron decided to stay home and play for the Hounds, should be a heck of a player before he graduates. Hope we can get together sometimes this year at a Corbin game, we eat in the upper end zone before home games, give me a PM sometimes!

When the clock is running Scotty_Bronson you don't get much time with the second unit. No need to pay attention to last year stats Williamsburg will be ready......I think...I have faith in this coaching staff for sure.

They wasn't a bad team last year. They were just a bit over confident from a weak schedule. But they return a lot back and I expect them to be improved and not be so cocky and big headed.

There seniors will be talented but not as the past graduating class. They will not put up numbers like last year.
