Good luck To the "BURG"...Just a thought, maybe the ARENA could hire some on site psychologists...

Congrats to Williamsburg on a huge win and being the first team to punch their ticket to Rupp, and to defeat the defending regional champions is a great feat for this team. Best of luck at State!

UKCC Wrote:You need to chill with the Rupp talk. Haha this loss sucks, it does but we've been once or twice. I wish you all the best, sincerely but relax on the state talk. You know who runs eastern Kentucky whether it's every year or not. We don't talk for 40 years about one team winning region like Williamsburg will this one. Now, for the 1987 title, yes, we do. Big difference. Don't be disrespectful to all Clay County fans because 2-3 are boastful on here. We don't have to salivate and hope we'll be back because we know we will. Basketball players are bread in Clay County if anything else. Constantly having players come up and produce. Ryan House is the only true transfer rotation player. I'll never say Trey Farmer is a transfer even if he is. The name says enough
Did you ever stop to think that arrogant posts like this one may just be the reason that a lot of people get irritated at Clay's fan base? They do NOT need to chill with the Rupp talk. If Clay had won, that's all we would be reading this morning. Clay County may have "bred" some fine players, but they recruit some too. It appears that the only way you can give Williamsburg a compliment is to down grade them first.
To be honest with you, I would've been happy with a Clay County win, too. But, it's nice to see some new faces at Rupp and I hope they salivate all over the boards!!
UKCC Wrote:I could see myself cheering for that Williamsburg team if it weren't for the fact that they put my Tigers out of it. Like how it is built with that lineup. Skylar Griffith was by far the difference in this game. Second chance points, rebounding, and some missed free throws kept Clay County of it. So many missed opportunities in the first half as well. Not making excuses, just stating basketball facts. Lord knows this doesn't sting near as much as getting upset by not even a top 5 team in North Laurel 3 years ago.
You ARE making excuses. Clay County had a great deal to do with taking themselves out of the game early on. Williamsburg had what it took to keep Farmer from shooting their way back in!! If Farmer had shot all night long, like he did in the fourth quarter, this game may very well have had a different outcome. So IMO, Williamsburg certainly DID put the Tigers out of it, but Clay getting down by as much as 19 didn't hurt the Jackets.

"The real thing. It's dang Williamsburg. my gosh if Clay plays average then they win by 10.
Really! They played 1a football and think they now ready for this. Lol.
It's Williamsburg and it's 64 and top notch. Get real!"

Williamsburg has an extremely talented group of athletes. Not just Ball players, but athletes. Really wish them well at the state and hope they represent the mountains well.
You are correct these Williamsburg kids are very talented bunch of athletes and except for Massey have played together all their life. I really don't get it when people talk about how much more talented Clay was. Those five kids have shown they can play football, basketball and if this bunch of seniors plays baseball this year they will be very good, because they are athletes.
CONGRADULATIONS JACKETS

cctiger Wrote:I've never seen Williamsburg play but congrats on the win. How ever clay isn't a very good basketball team. You have a kid who would play power forward at most schools running the point. They don't play defense and they try to out score people. Offense can only take you so far when you get in to the tourney. They are a very lazy basketball team. Farmer is more of a liability then any thing. He may get you 16 but he's giving up 25.
I will take up for Farmer, My CC fans and friends, if it had not been for Farmer we would have beaten you up by 25 or 30.

First I never said anywhere, other than a prediction, where Williamsburg
would win anything, I just took up for A kid and one of the best high school
BBplayers I have ever seen. It is hard to believe the things said about him. I don't understand it, this kid has been through enough. God I wish we had him. I am sure that 90% of the people love and care for him. he has been through enough.

In my opinion Farmer is one of A few top players we have faced all year, Luke Woods, Whitley, Andrew Taylor Corbin, The big Taylor kid SL. They had another KId that was very good. don't remember his name. Williamsburg had A couple kids in that class. This is just My opinion. I am sure I have left some deserving Kids off, it is not intended. I just don't remember names,
03-10-2015, 02:48 PM
I will give you the name of A kid who is maybe the most underated HS player in the state, what he does don't make the sport section high lites, but I don't think Williamsburg could win without him. He not only plays well, but he is the coach on the floor. CHASE LOWERY.

4 out of 5 of Clays starters will play at the next level. And if Sexton continues to develop that will make all 5. He is just a sophomore. Then you have 1 player In Smith who will probably land D1 somewhere so this is where I think people are saying that they are more talented.
Now I do think Williamsburg had 3 that could play at the next level for basketball but none above the NAIA or D3 level.

Congrats on the win. Exposed Clay's 2 biggest weakness Imo. Rebounding and guarding the 3. Good luck and rupp

I'm glad to see Williamsburg get the win. Small schools such as them don't get many opportunities to get to Rupp Arena, they stepped up and took advantage of the opportunity and earned their way to the state tourney.:1:

I understand that defense is a big part of the game and Farmer might not be a "lock down defender." However offense is also a big part of the game and he can put the ball in the hoop. Without Farmer Clay County isn't even in the championship game Monday night. Williamsburg out rebounded Clay by 12, hit 7 out of 12 threes, didn't miss many free-throws, and had Shelton face guard Farmer after the first quarter. They done everything necessary to win that game. Gotta give them credit.

Congrats to The Burg on winning against a very formidable opponent. They played with heart, desire and pride. Love seeing a set of seniors who have played together so long be successful.

You can check my post to see how many times I've been arrogant. I guess I was upset with people bashing Clay County when they really wanted to bash the few on here that constantly predict blowouts. I for one, never do that. I hate even giving predictions because you're just asking to be beat but I do sometimes. If people want to "rub dirt", don't do it toward Clay County. Do it toward the few on here that predict every game we'll win by 20. Not the ones who respect all opponents and programs. That's why I went on a rant. I know every program at any level has its crazed fans. Most of Clay County was very respectful and congratulatory of Williamsburg. It is nice to see a new face at Rupp, as long as it's not a rival school and Williamsburg is not. This is a forum and I understand that but when people say Clay County this and that and really mean -insert BGR name- it's irritating. So, like anybody. I took some medicine, and my medicine is the basketball tradition of Clay County. That helps me sleep at night and we've been lucky.
Anyway, Go Cats! I'm sure most of us would agree on that.

Perhaps I am wrong, but the bolded parts are very arrogant and pious. You aren't answering the bashers, you are talking about the program and the area. I think it's unfair.
How much talking about Rupp would you and the other CC fans be doing right now had Clay won last night?
AND we can agree about UK. Also about Ryan House. I read a post that he posted on 13th Reg Basketball facebook thread. That kid will have my heart and support from now on!!

Randy Watson no disrespect to the clay kids at all but if smith is D1 How is Andrew not the smith kid can play but needs to gain some weight Andrew is built like a D1 kid and is just now figuring out that he is bigger and stronger than anyone that tries to guard him
