Since they are the #1 seed in the distict who will they play?
Now that there are 5 teams in this district, it becomes formatted much like the NCAA. With there be a so called, "Pre-tournament game". The 4 and 5 seed in the district, now plays the first game of the district. In this case it is Lawrence Co. and Magoffin Co. Paintsville will then play the winner of this game on another night. Way to go TIGERS!!! Keep up the good work and play like a team. Good luck in districts.

Probably one of his top 5-6 games, in my opinion!!
25 points, but more importantly, gave up the rock and had 6-7 assists!!! I know he could have put up more points, but I hope that he also saw, that his play allowed other players to become weapons as well, thus resulting into a team that makes it hard to defend. IMO, he just helped the Tigers look like a TEAM!

Congrats Tigers

Paintsville played well as a team and rebounded well while I thought Johnson Central should have called off the press sooner. I also thought Johnson Central didn't go to the board hard in the first half and when they fell behind they tried too much one on one stuff. Rice should have had the ball more in the first half.

I am not sold on this new coach, we have not been beat this bad by the Tiger's ever. If JC is defeated in the first game of the district will the power's to be pull the plug on Starne's much as they did Humphrey's in football, one year and out. Stay tuned,it could get interesting.
It wasn't Coach Starns' fault. Paintsville just wanted it more. Don't count the Eagles out yet....they know what is at stake here and they will come out prove all the naysayers wrong.
Go Eagles!:wenumber1

Paintrsville is not gonna crash and burn in the district. They will stay strong like they aleays do and kick butt doin it. I dont think they r goin to state, but they will go far.

I have seen them play a half dozen games and not in any has the press been effective.
What was it again that they named it????? "GOLD FLUSH" or something??
And I have no idea what you could have seen that would make you think that Paintsville couldn't handle a press!!! A whole lot better teams have called off their non named presses against Paintsville this year.

I don't think that that is any of anyone's business do you? I believe that if Coach Starns walked out of practice then that is between him and his players and not to be broadcast over the internet like this. They will work out the kinks if there are any to be worked out and they will be a more solid team than before....so just let it go and stop trying to ruin the team and the chemistry that Coach Starns is trying to build in them. Coach Starns loves these boys and has bent over backwards to build a relationship with them...everyone needs to get off his back and let him do his job.

Of course the press has worked this year. You just weren't at the right games obviously. When it works it works really well....there just happens to be a few games in which it didn't work....sorry that you only saw those games. How do you choose which games to attend in the first place?

Maybe and maybe not. There is nothing that people in the 15th love more than to see Paintsville lose.

I think that the Eagles need a little attitude adjustment because when Meek came out I was behind the bench and these words came from his mouth exactly..."We F'n Suck"...so look at it this way Central...if your gonna have that attitude then why even play the damn game!!!

Maybe it's because they don't like Coach Runyon, maybe it's the fact that they are the team from the 15th Region with probably the most success at the Sweet 16, maybe it's their State Championship (which they should have three), or maybe the fact that they compete year in and year out for a district/regional title. Sounds like a little jealousy to me.

Oh no definitely not jealousy. People just don't like the way Paintsville snubs their noses at everyone. They think that just because they are a city school they are better than everyone else. I personally wouldn't want to go to school with a bunch of snobs. It may be jealousy on some people's parts but not mine. Give me down to earth kids who treat everyone as a friend as opposed to kids who think their butts are made of gold just because daddy has money anyday.

Absolutely! Not that I think walking out on practice is a bad thing. If the kids aren't responding then it can be a wakeup call. But back to your question, that wasn't an issue about an individual kid, it was a judgment call by a coach. Those are always open to second guessing and speculations. Why he did it shouldn't be a protected secret.

Greaser my ass, you don't know a mound from a mole hill. Believe it or not there isn't much of a city in the entire county. Get out of town a little bit and tell someone from Cincinnati or Louisville that being from Paintsville makes you a city kid and they will laugh their tails off.
There are always rivalries in high school, but after the fact most of the kids are friends. I can count as many or more Johnson Central grads as close friends than any other. The added rivalry when it comes to JC and Paintsville is the parents and administration generally dislike each other. Make no mistake the bitterness comes from the top down and the kids get caught in the middle. I also don't think it is as much an elitist attitude from one school (although it does exist in some) as an inferiority complex from the other (on a much grader scale). JMHO

Have to disagree.....I am very familiar with both schools. I have family at both schools and it is taught from Kindergarten at Paintsville that they are superior in every aspect when it comes to "the other school". Not everyone buys into it, but it has been that way for years. I have always felt that Johnson County students have just always been on the defense. Now I believe things have turned around academically and athletically and Paintsville is having a hard time accepting it.

I'm not a city girl...never claimed to be and wouldn't want to be one...I'm happy being a country girl. But I have known kids from Paintsville and I have heard the way they talked about the Johnson Central kids. I beg to differ with you when you say the kids get stuck in the middle. Initially it comes from the top down but the kids happily buy into it and foster it.

Are we going to talk about the game or other issues that don't matter?

the fact is paintsville plays incredibally when they have to, after that heartbreaking loss to betsy lane the other night, they are not going to accept another loss, they are going to be playing like they did against central for the rest of the year
02-20-2006, 02:00 PM
im friends with a lot of people from both schools, and luck has nothing to do with central getting their asses kicked by 20 in the first quarter.

i agree with imnotelling, all the schools love to see paintsvillelose, but the fact is they r not going to. Paintsville play their best in the tournament, and they will go far. Im not sayin they will got to state, but they will still make it pretty far.

I think this comment is a bunch of BS. Ofcourse we say that to our kids, so does JC. U just need to keep ur mouth shut and dont talk about somethin u know nothin about. Yeah we tell our kids we're the best cuz we probably r, so just shut up and mind ur own damn business.
